A list of puns related to "Imperialist"
When I try to explain that veganism is not a privilege on this sub, I have a bunch of westerners earning between 1000%β3000% more than me going βwell actually, it is. You're just privilegedβ.
They will also say being in India is a privilege over being in America. They will talk about ethnic marginalization in the US, but flat-out deny the much severe ethnic marginalization in India. They seem to think βthey're all brown, so they must be the sameβ.
Why is this?
I don't know how to properly categorize it but roughly from the 1880s to the end of WW1, we just see this string of high-profile assassinations back to back.
James Garfield, American President - 1881
Alexander II - Russian Emperor - 1881
Sadi Carnot, French President - 1894
Umberto I - King of Italy - 1900
William McKinley - American President - 1901
Carlos I - King of Portugal - 1908
GeΓ³rgios I - King of Greece - 1913
Franz Ferdinand - Duke of Austria - 1914
Nicolas II - Russian Emperor - 1917
And not to mention the ones that had been attempted but managed to survive; Teddy Roosevelt, Kaiser Wilhelm, Leopold of Belgium, Sultan AbdΓΌlhamid II, and Spanish king Alfonso XIII.
I understand that there were plenty of chaotic and violent periods throughout history, however, this period here stands out as pretty interesting.
What was going on?
When I am referring to Western Anti-Imperialists I am mostly talking about organizations such as Grayzone, MintPress, Empire Files, Stop the War, Breakthrough News and others that describe themselves as anti-imperialists and socialists that are against the US Empire but at the same time also promote multipolarity.
Are they being dishonest? Multipolarity is not all countries or nation-states having an equal say in global politics but just mean other powerful states having a greater share of geopolitical power. China and Russia are not opposing the US out of anti-imperialism but rather because they want their own spheres of influence thus becoming imperial powers themselves.
I wish they were more honest and call themselves Anti-Western because if they claim to oppose imperialism or Great Power hegemony but dismiss that Russia or China are trying to become imperial hegemons I cannot take their anti-imperialism seriously. They can moan and slam the US all they want go ahead but please don't call yourself anti-imperialist if you deny that China also has imperial ambitions.
As someone who is Southeast Asian, China is looking to become an imperial hegemon here and it just irritates me that Western anti-imperialists decides that it is ok for China to become an Empire once again.
