A list of puns related to "Handwringer"
It seems that every so often, some misguided journalist/ethicist/commentator writes a news article tut-tutting at this subreddit for hurting anti-[COVID]-vaxxer feelings. This place has, among other things, been called "cruel," "heartless," and "ugly, and dismissed offhand as "ghoulish." Someone has even claimed that the existence of this subreddit is bringing society closer fascism. And that's some of the nicer coverage! Those on the right have never hesitated to condemn this place as "dancing on people's graves." Inevitably, during every outbreak of tut-tutting, disapproval, and finger-wagging, people on this subreddit become defensive.
#Why?
To those who get hysterical because I'm "dancing on people's graves," I do not believe I am dancing on anyone's grave because I refuse to view their life decisions with rose-tinted glasses. But even if I WERE dancing on people's graves, So. Fucking. What?
Nearly every time this subreddit gets outside attention, people always point out, βwe do not want this subreddit to exist!β But I donβt count myself among those. I am indifferent to the existence of this subreddit, and generally do not concern myself with the question of whether it "should" exist or not. Moreover, that framing tacitly endorses the idea that this subreddit is blameworthy for even existing, and can be dismissed as a weak attempt to reconcile cognitive dissonance.
While I am unrepentant about my disregard for nearly all those who are featured here, there is one thing I can say with 100% certainty, and it is this: I don't want anyone to die. Specifically, I do not want anyone to needlessly die of a devastating disease when an effective, low-cost, and low-effort method of protection exists. To the anti-vaxxer who's reading this, THAT INCLUDES YOU. I may have nothing but the basest contempt for your actions and life choices, but even so, I do not want you to needlessly die. That is why I have now received two doses of an mRNA vaccine as well as a booster shot. It is why I nearly always keep my mask on in public places, and why I fully support vaccine and mask mandates where possible, so that children do not bring the virus home with t

Iβve seen so many articles posted lately with different βexpertsβ (including academics, random billionaires, random bloggers etc) declaring an imminent civil war in the US. Whenever I see a surge in reporting on a specific narrative like this I canβt help but get suspicious of the motive.
Obviously internal contradictions in the US are close to a breaking point. I also understand that the state has been turning its military & intelligence apparatus inward to prepare to quell potential unrest and because there is not much elsewhere to turn it with so little gas left in the βwar on terrorβ tank at this point.
I donβt think I buy the imminence of a civil war, though. Why such a concerted push of this narrative right now?

Iβve always had disordered eating habits but I was a healthy, if not skinny weight for much of my life. It fluctuated but I was always on the thin side.
As I got older (24) my old habits caught up with me. I did crazy restriction for 6+ months and then binged for β¦ a long time. I gained 80 pounds. I didnβt have the willpower to balance out the bingeing with restriction anymore.
At this same time, I was diagnosed with PTSD! I had so much to work through. Now two years later, Iβm mentally healthier than Iβve been in my adult life. I believe my bad eating was rooted in my PTSD. So now on to my physical health and to break these bad habits.
My CW is 224 and I aim for 140, but I could be content with 150. I am on phentermine and will meet with my doctor monthly.
Had Fage 2% plain greek yogurt for breakfast with sprinkle of cinnamon and granola. Black coffee. Going to grill chicken and stick it in the fridge for easy access this week.
Wish me luck. Iβm excited. Feeling motivated. A healthy life is the best Christmas gift I could give myself!
... psychological state???!!!
Serious question.
I'm genuinely baffled at post after post grappling with June's psychology in a fictional narrative. The concept of watching her in therapy, getting over her trauma would be boring af.
I'm here for Gilead to be taken down - HARD.
Nice people who have worked through their "issues" don't tend to start revolutions.
Meanwhile...the show's been very, VERY clear on the matter. Her arc has made perfect sense.
... Antiheroes and female rage rule the day in TV fiction. None of this surprises me or disturbs me whatsoever. Bring on the rage, Junebug! That's my view.
Why are so many people so upset? Thoughts? I'm honestly confused...
...but honestly, thatβs hilarious. My kind of petty.
I wanted to give a heads up to other childfree folks that the recently released census data shows U.S. Population Over Last Decade Grew at Slowest Rate Since 1930s. If you see or hear a lot of discussion about declining birthrates over the next few weeks, this is why. Brace yourself for the bingos.
Subversion of this sub is well underway and one of those tactics is all the handwringing about antiwork not being a left vs right issue and βdivide and conquerβ, etc.
This completely ahistorical and revisionist dogshit serves one purpose: halting progress and preserving power imbalance.
In terms of ultimate goals: the left wants complete emancipation for all people. The civil rights movement, stonewall, occupy, BLM.
The right wants a white supremacist ethnostate and genocide for the rest. Oathkeepers, proud boys, 3%.
You donβt have to get into left vs right to discuss the issues and build power. But claiming antiwork isnβt very clearly a direct product of leftist ideology is bad faith meddling.
If youβre a conservative finding yourself agreeing with antiwork maybe youβre not as conservative as you think and that might be causing some conflicting feelings. That doesnβt make antiwork any less of a lefty, commie concept.
Deal with it.
Edit: this post has clearly struck a nerve with centrists and right wingers. just want to thank you all for helping me make my point.
Also wanted to touch on a few topics gelling in the replies.
Identity politics: the only people who use this term seriously are privileged white right wing males. dismissive wanking gesture
Sowing division: division exists. Itβs here. If you want less division, turn off Fox/CNN, stop listening to grifters like Shapiro or Jimmy Dore and make up your own mind.
Gatekeeping: there is no gate and no one is keeping you from entering through such non-existent gate. you are here on this sub sharing your opinion. however asinine it may be no one has impeded your ability to be here and contribute to antiwork in whatever way you see fit so stop acting like a victim.
Political spectrum: many have rightly pointed out that left and right donβt mean the exact same thing across the world. I understand that. Iβm in the US, in case that wasnβt obvious. Our Democrats are a center right party while republicans are far right. Bernie would be center left. These are not debatable facts. The gop is constantly stoking the culture war against the βSOCIALIST, COMMIE, LEFTY DEMOCRATSβ. Democrats never identify as left and never criticize βthe rightβ while Republicans constantly identify as the right and throw tantrums about anything Democrats do that might marginally benefit poor people.
There are clearly a lot of reactionaries here who think they can just cherry pick whatever they like and somehow i
