A list of puns related to "Functional Contextualism"
With the update to the 2022 versions of Ps, Ai, Id, etc. I've lost all contextual functionality from the crown on my Logitech Craft. Options still shows contextual selected, but only the default all-apps function works. No updates appear to be available. Anyone else?
This can really help them learn how to use a new phone, air fryer, or any other digital device if you look for this specifically.
I have been trying to get my grandmother (93F) to use the Fire tablet I got her and she is good in some apps, but lousy in others and I came to the conclusion that this is why. Some of the apps use intuitive controls like gestures and long presses that she is unable to grasp and others have big buttons with labels on them which makes it really easy. She just reads them one at a time until she gets to the one she wants.
Well not all of you, but ya'll sure do say some dumb things sometimes. Like the following:
Sensing, patterns and connections.
Consider Sid who lives, as they say, in the moment. What is it for Sid to do this? Here is one dumb idea: Whatever it is, it cannot be for Sid to see patterns and connections for that would be doing a bit of intuiting, which is the opposite of sensing, and Sid is a sensor. This a dumb idea because there are patterns and connections that obtain in the here and now: Between what Sid is sensing right now and what Sid will sense next, or between what Sid is now sensing and soon doing, or soon sensing and now doing, or sensing or doing now and later or having sensed before and done already.
Sensing and meaning.
Living in the moment as Sid does is one way to live. Why would Sid so live? According to one dumb suggestion, not because its a meaningful pursuit: - "One would so live because one is excited by sensations, and to be excited by sensations is not to be excited by what things mean." The suggestion is dumb because being excited by sensations is either for them to be imbued with meaning or to bestow meaning upon them or both, or else Sid is in deeper trouble than even he suspects.
Sensation and possibilities.
- "Sid is engaged in the business of sensing. This is because he is excited by sensations. But the possibility of undergoing sensations does not excite Sid. Not one bit. Nor the pursuit of novel sensations. Nor different ways of sensing, or the sensations of tommorrow, or those that lie around the corner, or those of aliens. He cannot be excited by such things, of course, because to be excited by sensation is precisely not to be excited about possibilities." Or this, anyway, is how another dumb idea sounds.
Se is not "the five senses," instead it is most about perception of, and orientation around, time. If Se was about "the five senses," that would imply every non-Se type will be physically incapable of operating a motor vehicle without immediately crashing it due to their tenuous relationship with the function. I hope that helps illustrate the absurdity of that trope.
When I say it's about time, what I mean is that Se isolated from any other function (which arguably may never occur) is about perceiving things without any relationship to the past or future. This is where the "in the moment" trope comes striding into the room shaking hands with everybody, but it's a misconception. Note that I said "relationship with." Se is not inherently about having no perception of the past or future, no planning for the future, ignoring both entirely... none of that, it's just that the things in the now are perceived as having little relationship with either. "Maybe it will be different this time" is something you might find an Se type behaving as disproportionately when compared to other types because the relationship with the past of the object doesn't seem very relevant or concrete compared to the forceful and imposing immediacy of its existence now. "If it doesn't seem bad now, is it really still bad?"
This is why they can seem "open to new experiences," but not necessarily because they want to seek them out in every case, more so because a permanence of dislike of the object is harder to establish than with other types. It is, however, still possible to establish and especially traumatizing or emotional experiences tied to the object may override any typical tendency to "forgive and forget" the impact that the object had (inanimate, person, etc.).
Although it is true that Se-doms don't tend to long-term plan to the degree that others do, they still have to plan a lot in the short-term, unless they are living a life entirely structured for them, which is probably something they'd want out of. Short of being so wealthy they can just throw money at any problem, they are going to have to do some planning in the short-term to get through life in the improvisational way they tend to most be comfortable with. And although it is true that many Se types report enjoying thrills and sights and sounds, enjoyment of these things is not what Se is. Others enjoy those things too, Se types just tend to enjoy them in a more time neutral way, untethered from the imposition of thing

What does a word processor do?
Pages is great at these things. And, in fact, better than the other two competitors.
Pages has some of the easiest to use yet completely comprehensive text formatting tools. It turns something thatβs a nightmare on Microsoft Word into a trivial task. Line spacing, before paragraph line spacing, after paragraph line spacing, drop caps, columns, indents, hyphenation, tabs, rules, justification. The formatting sidebar arranges these complex options in a manner that is effortless to discover and use.
The user interface also teaches key concepts like paragraphical formatting and styles, which are front and center. In Microsoft Word these concepts are flat out hidden or found in clumsy cluttered interfaces. This leaves most users to manually format any text in their document instead of style their document. Or to use tab spaces instead of actual paragraphing. We all know these Word users.
But any iWork app is special because itβs also a layout app. The power of iWork stems from the ease of moving shapes, text, or images anywhere you want with advanced controls.
When you combine the exceptional formatting tools with the great layout features youβre left with an app that makes better looking and properly formatted documents way faster and easier.
The sandbox of layout tools also make Pages much more creatively free and replaces many single use functions in Microsoft Word with simple intuitive ingenuity.
The user interface is also better. Unlike the ribbon in Microsoft Word, the Pages format sidebar only shows contextual options based on what a user has selected. And unlike the ribbon, it preserves precious vertical space that should be used for writing. The interface is also beautiful and simplified which makes writing less frustrating and the interface less distracting.
So regardless of peopleβs preconceptions about Pages I think itβs a more powerful and capable way to write documents with proper formatting. If the tools are easy to use the software becomes immediately useful to the vast majority of people. In fact, Iβve handed such perfectly formatted documents to people in Microsoft Word format and theyβve asked me how I accomplished it. Well, not in Word.
I encourage anyone with a Mac to try Pages. And the beauty of iWork is once you learn one youβre already a pro at the other two.
The Terran fleet that arrived in the Weaver system was relatively small; consisting of one dreadnaught, four battlecruisers, two missile frigates, and eight corvettes, along with several support vessels and troop transports.
They had spent a week in transit, with the voyage having been mostly quiet. With the exception of the pack of Void Wolves that had been trailing the fleet for the last three days.
The fleet had dropped out of FTL for about an hour earlier that day to "discourage" them from following any further. It would be unfortunate if the creatures were to bother the Weaver colony later, or decide to harass the fleet in the middle of combat.
"Discouraging them", had consisted of first locating the biggest, meanest looking one of the critters, and shooting it in the face with a kinetic round from the spinal gun of a battlecruiser; a lesson to the others that ships were not prey.
The creature did not survive the lesson.
However the creatures were either slow learners, or determined, and continued their approach. Since the point had not yet been made, the admiral had ordered the ship to target "the next biggest one".
It too, did not survive the lesson.
The lessons continued until the void wolf pack had taken approximately 50% casualties; at which point the remaining creatures fled, while emitting electromagnetic "howls" of various frequency.
Now however, the fleet was finally at the edge of the system and within communication range.
"Alright Silver, send a greeting and link us in to the Weaver's Battlenet, lets see how things are going" said the admiral.
"You got it boss" replied the AI.
The tactical display lit up with the words "ESTABLISHING BATTLEFIELD CONTROL, STANDBY".
A minute or so passed before he began to wonder what was taking so long. "Silver?"
"Keep your panties on, these spiders are weird. Even with the translation index Hool gave us, it's still hard to parse what they are sending" replied the AI.
"Yes. We've been in contact with them for over a century, and STILL haven't entirely perfected our understanding of the Weaver's language. Their spoken language is highly contextual, information dense, multi-banded, and, well, sort of "sung" to each other." said Ambassador Hool.

The Corrupted:
Hey Gang.
In conjunction with the Overlords of Reddit and the Mod community, we have written submissions for the Social Media Anti Trolling Bill Draft Legislation 2021.
This is in response to the call for Public Submissions from those involved in the Operation of Social Media Forums.
We value transparency here, so below is a copy of my written submission in relation to the potential impacts on r/ASX_Bets as a result of the legislation in it's current form.
Remember, the legislation is only a draft at this stage.
Anyone who has a extension or an alternate to this view feel free to comment below.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am a sub-reddit moderator for the Australian Stock Market sub-reddit, r/ASX_Bets.
Some specifics of the sub are necessary prior to detailing my position for the Public Submissions.
We have grown our sub from creation in March 2020 to approximately 85 thousand members. From the access we have to Redditβs growth graphs and empirical data, we can reasonably presume that this growth rate has been quite swift. A myriad of factors are required for explanation to contextualize that growth, suffice it to say that we have expanded rapidly due to demand for the platform.
Our rules structure is very clear. We have a priority pinned post that details the rules, a welcome message that directs new users to the rules and they are also a part of the side bar on the main sub feed. Within the best of our ability and within the confines of the culture, we moderate to those rules.
There a 5 Moderators and although we run the day to day with a degree of autonomy, we make our significant decisions via βmajority rules consensusβ in our group chat. Culture is specifically important as I will detail later, especially in relation to the proposed Bill.
The nature of our sub could best be described as irreverent, fun, edgy and high octane. We primarily have content posted on the more speculative end of the ASX exchange, as a result this attracts a certain type of user. We periodically receive requests from companies to market their products to our users and we have remained united as a team in not allowing any of these to co

I recently wrote this code:

cout<<"Enter three numbers:";
cin>>a>>b>>c;

cout<<"Max: "<<max;

int maximum(int a,int b,int c) {
if (a>=b && a>=c)

}
else if (b>=a && b>=c)
{
max=b;
}
else if (c>=a && c>=b)
{
max=c;

return max;
}
but once I run it I get two errors one is "address of overloaded function with no contextual type information" referring to max=a/b/c and the also "cannot resolve overloaded function"max" etc...It is the first time I encountered these errors and I dont know why they are caused and how to fix them. Thank you for any feedback!
Note: this post is mostly for U.S. conservatives/moderates/liberals/libertarians who find themselves here with the recent explosion of this sub.
Youβve probably seen a bunch of radical posts about how you donβt belong, the sub is leftist only, etc.
If youβre still here, letβs address the confusion about r/antiworkβs leftist nature and explore why you do belong here. This is not comprehensive, and will have plenty of room for improvement.
Iβm going to, with your help, try to:
First, what do we probably outright agree on? Maybe this will help frame the discussion to be more productive.
Leftism/Socialism and Common Myths:
Maybe some of these ideas are why youβre uncomfortable with socialism/leftism:
Letβs explore what socialism actually is, how these myths originate/perpetuate, and who benefits from them.
Socialism: at its core, socialism is worker/communal control of the means of production. But what does that mean, and why would we want that?
The Problem of Ownership
Imagine you have a rock and $1 million. You could purchase $1 million worth of shares of an index fund, give them to the rock, and fuck off. The rock, by its nature, cannot possess any comparative advantages or contribute any value to society. Yet, simply through its ownership, it will continually accrue/extract wealth from society. In <12 years, the rock would double its wealth. In 100 years, the rock would have $300 million (assuming an

I've noticed this specifically in the BNHA fandom, but it definitely crops up in other anime fandoms as well, where writers will come up with their own nicknames for Japanese names/characters. Now, this is not inherently bad, but there are three issues I have with this trend: 1) these nicknames are often derived from English nickname-making nomenclatures (even though in the fic they're still in Japan, and are speaking Japanese) , 2) the author has every important character hand out nicknames to every other important character, and 3) the author goes to lengths to have their characters say these nicknames in dialogue way more than is natural.
For context, I speak Japanese (as an L2) and have a BA in Linguistics; I am aware that I'm overly sensitive to this, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I thought I'd vent this out anyway, if only to relieve my frustration, not because of the unnatural mixing of languages (which is honestly to be expected in this context), but rather because of the execution of the nickname(s) within the narrative.
1 - English-style nicknames
This alone isn't a complete deal breaker. Fics are obv written by a multilingual community, but most write in English, and many creators and consumers are native English speakers. It's not surprising at all that writers would fall back on their native nomenclatures to come up with a nickname for their fav characters.
That said, it can feel weird in a context full of Japanese names. Here's some basic info on Japanese nicknames for those interested. In general, nicknames are derived in a couple ways: diminutive forms, abbreviations, clippings, and epithets, to name a few. However, each language accomplishes these transformations in different ways. Japanese has name enders like -chan and -kun that are often used to derive diminutive names (as well as really babey one like -chin or -tan, e.g. Kuroko --> Kuro-chin), much like English uses -y/-i/-ie. Japanese does have abbreviations (e.g. Toukyou Manji --> TouMan), but doesn't really use them as nicknames for people I think (correct me if I'm wrong). Nicknames from clippings (e.g. Kyousuke --> Kyou) are not uncommon, but note that these clipped nicknames are commonly used with name enders (e.g. Kyou-san, Kyou-chan, etc.). Epithets are similar to English where they've done something amazing or have a notable

I was wondering about Twitter and noticed $PLTR was one of the more mentioned stocks on Reddit, so I figured I'd stop by and do a DD. (Truthfully - I don't have much going on right now). With that in mind, I should put out there that I don't have a position in $PLTR and have no personal or professional stake in it, so today's DD is really just about what data there is on $PLTR and what it might mean for future price action.
For this DD I will use VoEx (described below) to give a general sense of $PLTR's current stability, and then from there, there will be several other data points that can be placed together to get a comprehensive picture of the stock.
For VoEx, a quick summary: basically, there are several price-directing forces in the market, and VoEx measures them. There are times when these forces become overly abundant and/or strong - and when this happens VoEx indicates that by moving outside of the indicated stable zone. The stability zone is marked by two horizontal lines: the top, known as the inhibition line, denotes when a stock's price-action is causing inhibitory forces to become overly abundant, and the bottom line, known as the propagation line, denotes when a stock's price action is causing price-trend-propagating forces to become overly abundant.
So with that in mind, let's take a look at $PLTR's VoEx:
Immediately there is the obvious elephant that VoEx (both trend and daily) is in the propagation line, which is associated with continued price decline. Other interesting findings include:
Its worth having a comparison stock or two to help contextualize VoEx.
Randomly picking one from today's reports: $TME:

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Recently I feel like I've come to an epiphany of sorts. After so many hours of my life wasted on battleboarding I think I'm finally starting to see the proverbial code of the Matrix. In one sense my so called epiphany is so incredibly obvious one would need to be a fool to not already be aware of it
People wank verses that they like and downplay verses that they don't like. Shocking revelation I know. In other news water is wet, fire is hot and space gives me an existential crisis.
But for real, this is far more prevalent and oftentimes far more subtle than you may think. In fact it happens so often and can be done so easily I would wager nearly everyone that's engaged in battleboarding for any significant length of time, (Including myself.) has done this at some point if not on purpose then by accident.
I'm gonna use 6 characters as examples now. If I target a particular character that you're very passionate about please hear me out and remember at the end of the day battleboarding is supposed to be fun and you probably shouldn't take it too seriously.
Okay, sorry I know I tend to ramble. What I've found is there's a lot of truisms in battleboarding. Things that people take for granted and these things more or less correlate not exactly with a character's popularity, but with their perceived power. On an individual level people reject feats from characters they don't like or are biased against in some way and they ignore possible weaker interpretations for feats and characters that they do like or are biased in favor of.
Let's jump right into the examples as I think that will make things more clear. After that I'll give my conclusion and why I think this is worth talking about.
Yes we're going to talk about that feat. The universal shockwaves. If you're somehow unfamiliar with this feat watch the damn video! Some people think that shows that Goku during his fight with Beerus is capable of destroying Universe 7. After all, he did that on accident when he was trying not to break shit. Imagine what he could do if he wanted to blow shit up!
Other people think this doesn't really show anything of consequence at all. As it was noted in the video, the shockwaves are getting more powerful the further they get from their origin point. So it stands to reason that at their origin point this is not universe destroying power. To this day this

While he mostly blames Studio 60's failure on it being overhyped, he also says what I've been saying for 15 years, which is very validating.
(This quote comes after some discussion of how 30 Rock was funny while Studio 60 was merely "witty", contextualizing why he seems to be down on "wit" here.)

If you have read them both and are fully sure that you do not believe them to be true, then I donβt think your opinion will change much here, Iβll never be able to explain CharaNarra like them and this theoryβs purpose is not to prove CharaNarra, but rather that Chara is the Narrator of Deltarune
I hope you can understand
DISCLAIMER: I am specifically talking about the Chara of UT, like the exact same Chara from UT, NOT Charaβs DR counterpart, that person is very much NOT the Narrator of Deltaruneβ¦or anywhere near us at allβ¦. In the chapters weβve gotten so far that is
And with that out of the way, let us finally beginβ¦. From the very beginning!
To even prove that Chara is the Narrator we first need to prove that the Narrator of DR is a person as well

Even when refusing to run the tap the Narratorβ¦Makes it pretty clear that you have no longer a say in the matter and that itβs a matter of time before you give in and choose to run it
Also on the fact that this the most defining and important action that the Narrator has taken and how up to this point the narrator has been rather passive, would most likely have to do with how it seems to be a "plot twist" (of course there are other moments that imply this and will be explored soon enough)
Much like when Kris ripped out the Red SOUL for the first time in Chapter 1

I started out my career contracting, usually, 3-6 month gigs just scrounging by to get experience, not particularly concerned about what company and the pay packet as I was still living at home at the time.
Contracting allows you to work at some preeetty big companies for short durations of time, looks nice on a resume (I hope), and gives you the experience and feel for what it's like when you see how IT operations are carried out in smaller orgs and bigger orgs and in this case, Fortune 100 Civil Engineering.
My role at this company initially was very broad, we were consolidating two offices and moving them about 2-3 Kilometers down the street to a different office. On top of that was also a device refresh so we were receiving an office's worth of Dell Latitude laptops, some of their CAD ones with Quadro graphics cards in them, some snazzy 14" foldable ones for Execs etc. Dell was awarded this contract from us because apparently, HP couldn't play ball and wasn't able to provide the goods within our tight deadlines, suffice to say - this was a fairly large contract given the context of the numbers of devices and the organization they were going to.
Anyway, so we're finished with the rollout (post complimentary upgrade to 64GB ram on our laptops which came out of the factory misconfigured with only 32) and now we're in the meat and potato part of the project - moving all this stuff down the street. At the new location, we'd already purchased a metric crapload of peripherals (with spares) and as with all moves you then have the luxury of going through things and addressing the hiccups and bumps that occurred along the way, "defects" if you will with the move.
Well, one fairly large defect that reared its ugly head relatively soon into the office move was the rate at which our keyboards were failing on us, not the mouse - just the keyboards. Certain keys actually and they were failing at a rate of maybe 20-30%. Normally, if you only bought maybe 10-20 or maybe 30 you'd probably be okay with these margins but if you blow these out to 200/300 keyboards (with spares not in the field) you can see how this would become problematic.
Anyway, fast forward a bit I'm sitting on an email chain about 8-10 emails deep at this point with generic Helpdesk from Dell who of course, needed to run through his checklist for things which wen

I looked at Tasha in absolute shock.
βThe Hall Of God?β I repeated.
βYes. The Hall Of God. Itβs where God resides. All realities, all universes are connected to this one singular place where God can control and see them fromβ She said
βWhy the hell would I come with you?β
βTwo Reasons. One, youβre not supposed to have that connection to your life above your back past the desert level. Two, you just let me through to heaven even though the Keepers didnβt let me. Both the Keepers and the desert woman donβt forgetβ
It was a beautiful coincidence, because as soon as she said that, a group of four Keepers appeared from the bushes and began to walk right towards us. βNoβ

I jumped in with her, bracing myself for the cold of the water but the water wasnβt cold, it was quite warm and comfortable, almost like a bath. It didnβt drown me either. It seemed to make half of my body float above it like I had some sort of flotation device on. The current was fast and it pushed us downstream.

βAnd what are you gonna do after you get there?β

And it's happening worldwide. One thing Kiwis are usually proud of is their laissez faire, she'll be right, you-do-you attitude to the quirky behaviour of others. Now, suddenly, if you don't agree to discard your right to freely associate, speak or even think, then you are the devil incarnate and ripe for cancellation. It's like we've become a nation of zombies, incapable of doing anything other than what we're told. Where did this uncharacteristic attitude come from? Probably from the "Nudge Unit", staffed by social scientists and psychologists, whose only function is to manipulate your mind into doing what the Prime Minister wants you to do.
This essay is a fascinating insight into how far we are slipping away from the democratic ideal. The author is talking about the UK where the first Behavioural Insights Team, or "Nudge Unit" emerged. He is proud of it's achievements and much of the essay covers those. But then there's the law of unintended consequences:
>Nudging made subtle state influence palatable, but mixed with a state of emergency, have we inadvertently sanctioned state propaganda?
Quite. Not to even consider the repugnant idea of preferring to manipulate public opinion, rather than educating us to arrive at our own informed conclusions. This is the main take away: our governments are spending our own money to hire the brightest minds on the planet to make us do what they dictate. Our author recognises this danger,
>So it has been surprising that the most ardent proponents of empiricism in policy have not been inoculated from identity politics and their own echo-chambers. In fact, it is the proponents of evidence and empiricism, our best and most educated elites, who are now often the least willing to hear information that challenges their worldview or runs contrary to their identity.
But he lamely concludes with,
>Those who commission behavioural experts to provide policy advice must themselves understand how best to use it.
...which is like saying it's OK to leave an alcoholic with a bottle of scotch.
But this is the UK. Surely this couldn't happen in New Zealand? Well, I don't know if they call it the Nudge Unit here, but [the Behavioural Insights Team](https://www.bi.team/search/new+zeala

Recently a group of important voices have come out against Web3. These arenβt the usual technology adverse critics but rather voices that are in general pro technological innovation; People like Jack Dorsey and Tim OβReilly but also others like Levi from Box.com and large parts of the entire gaming community also seems to have an issue with the fundamental morality of the Web3 project.
This should be taken seriously but instead of getting into a tit-for-tat with their claims I would like to zoom out a little bit more and try to explain why Web3 is not just a great technical innovation, itβs also morally superior to any societal solution we currently have, rendering the objections by critics moot.
Let's start with the obvious question: Why do we need a moral case for blockchain?
The answer is actually quite simple.
Any claimed solution to a problem, potentially affecting humans at large scale, need to to deliver on at least 4 axises.
Non-coercive
A moral solution doesn't need to be forced, it will prove itself by improving the circumstances for those embracing it. Only through volunteer adoption can a solution said to be moral.
Non-exclusive
People who adopt the solution later aren't in principle excluded from participating in the upside early adopters enjoyed. Early adopters aren't in shielded from the downside of those adopting late.
Transparent
A morally superior system is not afraid of its own logic or the axioms it's built upon. In fact the superiority hinges on the accessibility of the rules and the reasoning governing the system.
Better problems
There is no such thing as a perfect solution.
All solutions come with their own unique problems.
The crucial difference is whether those problems are better problems to have than those it replaced.
Ok but what problems does Web3/Crypto actually solve?
At its core crypto solves the problem of trust.
This might sound underwhelming but once you start thinking about how many things in society are based on trust you quickly realize how important solutions to this problem are.
Trust in your friends, trust in your colleagues, trust in local government, federal, police, legal system, neighborhood, financial system, economic policies, the market, companies, ownership, your self! I could go on.

... keep reading on reddit β‘This DD is all about China and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Apes have written a lot about US markets and western market structure, but have a blind spot for what's going on overseas. This DD aims to clean that up a bit. The connection to GME is through Evergrande and contagion. I will present a counter-SuperStonk narrative on Evergrande and back it up with the social data/information I have available. This will set off many Apes' snek senses, as apes are still learning how to handle new information that goes against the prevailing narrative. You've been warned! Read on with a skeptical eye and trust in the wrinkle brain system if you're unsure of the validity of my viewpoint. At the end of the day it's just my perspective, and might be totally wrong.

Please note I'm just an enthusiast of Mandarin and Chinese culture. I'm some random American who learns about China for fun. I'm not a native speaker, don't have any Chinese heritage, and have never been to China. Salt grains are recommended.
Please be aware that we will be taking a critical look at the CCP. This by NO MEANS is a criticism of Chinese people or China in general. There are a lot of very harsh details in here, and some extremely harsh history. Please remember as you read these harsh realities are from the CCP and not innate qualities of Chinese people in any way. The Chinese people are a wonderful and vibrant group of diverse cultures with a rich history. They deserve the best lives the world can offer. However, the CCP warrants strong criticism, as we'll see written below.
We will first cover the context of pertinent Chinese history, key societal concepts such as "face", and build up an understanding how the Chinese real estate bubble was inevitable. We'll also dissect what the Evergrande situation looks like from our new perspective on Chinese culture and a new understanding of how the CCP works.
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is becoming more well known in the west, so hopefully you've heard of them by now. Still, most people (apes included) don't really know jack-shit about the CCP and it's a bit of a travesty in my opinion. Let me lay down a few quick bullet poi

So quick tl;dr
What are Containment Sites bad at? Running distance at low pop.
What are Containment Sites good at? Pretty much everything else.
Mainly I wanted to make a quick(ish) post, partially to defend Containment Sites, partially to let the devs who clearly put a lot of time into them know that some people see and appreciate their work, and partially to contextualize how we criticize base design.
So yes, it takes a while to run to the action in a low pop situation. That's a fair criticism. But for the rest of the common complaints, I think a lot of us don't quite appreciate the context of the base design.
The other day I was at a Containment Site fight, and some people were complaining about the base in /yell, while in a 96+ fight, where relative population sizes varied throughout, and there was a fight the entire time, across the entire base, that shifted between different points and locations repeatedly without.
And here I'm thinking, "tell me another base that can do that?"
Containment Sites deal with some unfair expectations I think. Here's a couple of the issues they face.
If there was only one of these somewhere in reliable sidelane of a single continent, I think there would be far less fuss. No one complains this much about how West Pass Watchtower for example is a right pain to take, and the only real way to do it is to cheese with as many vehicles and as much pop dumping as you can muster.
Because there's three of them and they had to slot into a rework of a continent, they couldn't have a whole section of the map designed for them.
Nason's Defiance for example is also giant base where running from one side to the other takes an age, but you usually don't have to run that distance because of how it fits into the surrounding terrain and lattice, and said terrain and lattice are allowed to work for the base, with the three-way fight being effectively used as a feature.
Containment sites don't have that luxury, so they had to fit their whole solution to zerging into a single, self-contained design.
Again comparing and contrasting Nason's: Nason's doesn't really need a purpose other than to be a good place to have an extended fight at. It sits in that center lattice ring kind of like a free-for-all brawling circle, and if you have an hour long fight there that never really

It draws in curious adventurers with friendly simulacrums, plotting to feed on their memories. Uncover the mystery of this shipβs demise and discover the secrets of the past brought to life!
Centuries ago, this merchant ship set sail from a port to which it did not return. The ship was badly damaged in a storm and stranded at sea. The crew died long ago.
In order to save itself from drowning, an elder oblex colonized the ship and fed on the original crew. It is now stranded.
The oblex hunts by drawing in curious seafarers with simulacrums of the original crew, acting as though theyβve been recently stranded and require aid. Once the sailors are trapped within the belly of the ship, the oblex consumes their memories. The oblex hopes to escape this half-sunk ship by boarding another, but has so far been unsuccessful. It is malnourished and weak, but this does not mean it wonβt go down without a fight.
The adventure begins as a mystery. It is apparent to the PCs that the ship is extremely old, yet unnaturally well preserved. The PCs explore the slimy upper decks of the ship in hopes of understanding its fate and locating their objective. It is here that they meet the first simulacrum, which takes the form of a friendly young sailor. The oblex will do its best to draw the PCs deeper into the ship with simulacrums like these. They act as guides, βsavingβ the PCs from monsters lurking in the ooze. They offer the PCs a safe place to rest and speak of powerful magical items held as cargo.
As they descend below decks in their continued pursuit of answers, the adventure transitions into a cramped dungeon-crawl punctuated by many opportunities for roleplaying. The PCs brave colonies of intellect devourers, nests of cranium rats, and the strange ooze that fills the lower decks. The PCs have many opportunities to interact with NPCs, most of which are actually simulacrums of the oblex, and find clues that will help them piece together the true nature of the ship. At this point, the oblex will seal off exits and put the most dangerous monsters behind the party, pushing them to delve deeper. If the oblex is confronted or realizes it may be able to cooper

There are a couple of posts here that do a pretty good job at explaining LS's philosophy, but I noticed in the AMA that lots of people don't fully understand what he's saying since he uses weird words that nobody else in the scene uses. It's even worse on his streams and new viewers may not be able to understand him. Even the non-technical terms can be confusing if you're an international fan (like me!) and English isn't your first language. And while LS is very smart, he is very long-winded and takes forever to get to the point.
I'm not very good at League or in Magic: The Gathering, his go-to comparison, but I've watched his content for years and will try to explain some of the words and phrases he uses to help new churchgoers. This is mostly simplified and is only meant to give a basic understanding. The best way to learn is from the man himself. Please comment if something is unclear or wrong!
