A list of puns related to "Free Food"
Not sure why this idea gets removed here but food should 100% be free.
Disclaimer: This question is from a curious woman, not an angry man!
Have you ever dated a woman/women and been concerned youβre simply used for the food, drinks, entertainment that comes with dates?
If so, what are your red flags that this is the case? What can a woman do to prove itβs not? (Beyond the obvious paying for some things)
Just curious. I got 1 pizza a week for free at my old upscale pizza place, but that was it.
Ok so the title is a little bit overdramatic but yeah I work at food joint and we get half off the price of food when we work. My GM until this moment was verrrry lenient on this rule. She allows people to take home food for free as long as they ring it up and apply a 100% discount so it doesn't count as food waste. To add to that, she even gives us her manager code to use since we can't do the discount without it and shews to lazy to get up and type it for us every time. Its become a habit for pretty much all of us who eat there. I've been working there for 2 years and I honestly forgot that we're technically not even supposed to get free food (according to corporate). I happen to eat there after every shift cuz it saves a lottttt of money for me.
So one day my GM was having a really bad day, she needed to work an 11-close (which is like over 12 hours) and everyone was walking around eggshells with her. I got on her bad side that day because I needed to leave an hour early. I had told another manager the prior week and it was written down in the schedule but it got a bit busy and I needed to stay. After working 15/20 minuets extra I told GM I really got to go. She got salty and told me that I'm on the schedule and I need to stay there. We got in a bit of a fight, not too dramatic but I left and took food home with me like I always do. She texted me and said "I hope you paid for that or I'll charge you for it myself." I shrugged it off and went about my day.
Yesterday, my direct deposit came in and I noticed I was missing a significant chunk. I picked up my pay stub and noticed I was missing one of my days. It was a 7 hour shift, the amount was equivalent to 110.25 pre taxes.
I told her I was missing hours from my check and she had me sat down, gave me 2 write ups (one for leaving early and another for taking food), a week suspension, and a receipt for a whole months worth of food she says I took. She said she got the OK from her district manager to give me the charge as they have footage of me stealing it. She even said I'm lucky that they don't store the footage for more than a month or else she "could have charged me thousands"...
I was honestly stunned lol I had no idea this was allowed and I'm honestly a bit timid so I didn't really care to argue with her about it, at least not right there and then. I got home and my girlfriends was fuming... we really can't afford to lose $100 especially not right now. I've asked around and none of the other work
... keep reading on reddit β‘My paychecks been delayed about a week now thanks to some update and now Iβm negative with nothing to eat. Anyone know anyplaces giving out food today?
Sorry in advance if this is the wrong place
Edit: thanks everyone for the information and special thanks to the kind strangers that reached out
Edit 2: yβall are amazing!!! I think I should be ok for now but please continue to post any resources for others who may be in need!
Like imagine being kidnapped or something and the person thinks they can give you a burger from McDonaldβs π€¦ββοΈ π€¦ββοΈ π€¦ββοΈ
(I was watching locked up abroad and thatβs why I thought of this)
Edit: I want to apologize for giving some people a new fear π
Forgive me if Iβm wrong, but am I wrong to be a little butt hurt watching a doctor grab a bunch of food from the cafeteria and not have to pay for it, but me with barely a comma in my paycheck has to? I know they work A TON of hours, and Iβm not mad they get to eat free, I think that itβs a good thing butβ¦ all hospital staff should be granted the same privilege in my opinion.
Especially when I canβt even make it to the cafeteria until 10 minutes before they close and they are going to throw the food away that they charged me 8 dollars for regardlessβ¦
Ugh
**EDIT: I should rephrase. I am in no way saying Residents or physicians or any doctors at hospitals shouldnβt receive meals for free. My feelings about this is that all healthcare staff ( yes even janitorial, security, food service themselves) should all be allowed a meal on their shift, not JUST the doctors themselves even though they do work hard and deserve it. I know they work long hours, I work at the hospitalβ¦ I know this. We all work hard as a team and should be treated evenly in that one circumstance.
No joke I have a friend who is a broke student and every day for a year he has just walked to the sushi area got a thing of sushi skipped the checkouts and walked to the food court he has had free sushi, goulash, monster energy drinks and more for over a year because of this he just grabs it walks to the food court sits with his friends and starts eating he has even done it when the place was swarming with cops he has only been caught once and got off with a warning and he still does this (helps if it's a busy day or around lunch time for schools)
Yet everyone in ethical veganism debates says that's all they get. Curiousπ€
Like why do they just...lie about that lol. All the time.
I know u eat Tyson chicken strips and Great Value ground beef. It's in the freezer rn. There's a McDonald's cup in ur room. I did the same thing...I don't expect people in their 20s making $9/hour to shop exclusively at Whole Foods, that's ridiculous. And the especially insane part is a lot of people who say that are like, my coworkers and family and former roommates....like I literally have seen the evidence that ur lying??? Or if it's someone on social media I can scroll through their profile for less than 5 minutes and see them talking about the new Burger King chicken sandwich or whatever.
Sure, they may be unaware that there's no ethical way to consume animal products so buying those doesn't actually make it okay. I totally get that. I was before too. But the fact is they do buy factory farmed products (either mostly or EXCLUSIVELY!) and are lying about it. Why? That's beyond cognitive dissonance, they know they're lying.
EDIT: Holy heck what's with all the omnis commenting now where did y'all come from.
One of our clients it's a hotel resort. Once this resort got a bad review in social media for being fatphobic. As a mkt agency we wanted to clarify why she felt that way and what happened.
She told us that the day she went to the hotel's restaurant to have breakfast (sundays its a buffet) she was told by one of the waitress that she couldnΒ΄t take more food. She wanted a compensation.
That was weird, so we decided to ask to the restaurant personal their version of the storie. They told us that they need to stoped the ma'am cause when she ended her breakfast she started to take food and instead of eating it she was filling several tuppers and bags.
Other clients couldn't even grab some food, cause she was furious and was screaming that food belong to her.
When they asked her to stop she yelled them that they were being fatphobic for don't let her grab more food, just beacuse she was fat. (That was obviously not the reason)
So we told the lady, the maximum we can do is to give her 10% off in her next meal. She lost her mind and published a lot of bad stuff. She was yelling that she deserved at least a whole free meal and a free night at the hotel.
We end up blocking her. She didn't get not even the small coupon, neither those she wanted. She is not allowed at the hotel anymore.
Do any of you work at dealers where they provide any food for employees (sales or service)? Saturday lunches for example. Trying to understand how common it is.
I was around 15 or so when this happened. My mother brought us somewhere far because of work. She had to execute sure everything was going well in an event. Small celebrities came to talk and do stuff. Before the event, I was out of clean clothes and I didn't bring any spare clothes. My mother luckily was given spare βstaffβ T-shirts for the event. So I reluctantly had to ware the staff's T-shirt. After sometime around noon, One of the staff needed help lifting boxes and equipments. She saw me and rushed towards me and asked for help. So I told the truth to the women, I said I don't actually work for event. She didn't believe me (probably because I was 5'10). She grabbed my arm and dragged me to the boxes and other stuffs. I was free anyways so I decided βwhy not?β. I helped her out moving stuff here and there for quite some time. After the event was done, they gave out foods to the staff crewmembers that was involved in the event. I got it too but she gave me 2 of them. They were already mostly done packing stuff up and ready to leave. I head back to my brother and handed him one of the food that I got and we ate. Later my mom found us and asked if we wanted to eat. I told her we already did. She asked what did we ate? I proceeded to tell her what happened. She laughed and told to others in family and they allββββββββββββΒlaughed, we all packed and went home
With Xmas coming up, some may struggle. For anyone in London, this may be useful. I fully understand that not eveyone likes Amazon/giving data away/big tech, but I feel this is a good freebie.
Currently Amazon Fresh are offering Β£10 off you first shop at the following stores:
East Sheen, Holborn, Angel, Richmond, Aldgate East, Hounslow, Chingford, Euston, Wandsworth
All you need is an Amazon account. That's it. To get the Β£10 discount all you do is tap in with your fresh code and get Β£10's worth of food/drink and walk out.
However, the Β£10 is per store. If you hit up all the stores in London, that is Β£80.
Yeah, prices are higher than normal supermarkets, but Β£80 worth of free food and drink is not too bad I think.
The offer run's until 26th Jan 2022.

UPDATE - CENTRAL LONDON, 4 STORES
If using public transport and starting at Euston, you can visit 4 stores using buses.
Starting at Euston Amazon Fresh (It's actually closer to Warren Street than Euston) take Bus 73 from Euston Square to Angel Station for Angel Amazon Fresh than take Bus 205 to Aldgate East Station for Aldgate Amazon Fresh and than bus 15 to the bottom of Chancery Lane and walk up Chancery Lane for the Holborn Store (Pretty sure that store only is there because Tesco opened there walk-out tech store across the road.)
UPDATE - WANDSWORTH, EAST SHEEN, RICHMOND, HOUNSLOW
Wandsworth - East Sheen - Richmond can be done using Bus 337. From Richmond Amazon Fresh to Hounslow Amazon Fresh you can take the H37. Β£1.55 hopper bus fare MIGHT be all that is needed if you can get the H37 within the time frame of the Hopper fare.
However, I'm struggling to find gluten-free emergency food packs. I just want something to throw my evac bag. I was considering buying some of the ones containing gluten because maybe some calories are better than no calories, but I'm worried about the physical reaction it might cause if that's what I eat. The idea of getting sick just for the sake of trying it is difficult to swallow, although I know that would be suggested. I can't decide if no food is worse than food that will potentially cause illness or death due to dehydration from stomach upset. Both options seem pretty shitty imo.
Looking for guidance on this topic in particular, like the title says.
Off the top of my head, I know some species of nematode ( S.carpocapsae, S. feltiae, some others ) can be useful for targeting certain species of gnat or thrip and treating them in a 'systemic' sort of way.
Likewise I know Ladybug are touted as a common living pest-control product (that carry with it its own fungal problems) for certain problem bugs.
Sticky traps, and maybe some safe oil based plant sprays you could probably apply to plants, though I really don't know (mineral oil?).
At some point in the future I'm hoping to have both outdoor and indoor growing spaces for vegetables and trees alike (I'd like to work towards a bit of a tree nursery). However, I'm intimidated by the aspect of losing crops because of pests, and wonder if there are safe approaches to pest control that the average home gardener / farmer can use against would be pests, most likely bugs.
Growing Zone 3a/3b in Canada, hopefully not moving far either and I'd be planning my outdoor veggies accordingly to what grows, plus some fruits/herb that do well (raspberry, strawberry, apple trees, rhubarb , gourd/pumpkins, potato off the top of my head). I'd also like to habe honey bees at some point, I'm sure something that's it's own pest control ballgame. Any pointers on general tips or strategies would be nice, and I'm hoping this can be a discussion space for just that.
And, I guess pest can be more than just bugs, i.e how do you also keep deer from eating your spruce saplings (fencing, I'd hope :p), stuff like that though I'm really not concerned about it for the most part. Feel much more intimidated fighting everyday grasshoppers and the likes, and if it is generally difficult to defend your outdoor gardens from predation.
I was let go recently from my job due to covid and I applied for food stamps but still havenβt heard anything back so at this point Iβm living off basically nothing. Anyone have any tips on how to get free food? There are no food banks where I live and I donβt feel like getting arrested for stealing.
[Edit: I want to say a big thank you to everyone who reached out with all these amazing tips as well as anyone who reached out. Really thank you. I hope something will work out and all the help is noticed and youβre awesome. Thank you again.
