It's 30 degrees F in Pennsylvania, at the end of November. Why is my forsythia blooming?

I have to remove several forsythias from an area in my yard. I cut all the branches down and dug/cut around the base and pulled the whole root balls/trunks out.
What do I do with these if I don't want to replant them? If I throw them in my dead branch pile in my yard will they try to take root in there and grow?
How do I make sure they don't start growing again?
Save me from TT-ing to summer for a bee hunt!
Iβm looking for 2 Turkey Day stands and 2-4 forsythias if anyone happens to have a few! Just let me know what youβd like in return!
I feel like there is an obvious 'right choice' but I can't seem to figure it out. Hoping someone here can help.
We're replanting the perimeter of the backyard - NJ, Zone 6B, soil is basically clay with rocks, there are some Norway Maple (I know I know), beech, black cherry trees around the edges (some on our side of the fence, some on the neighbors) so it's all shade to part shade.
We pulled/cut the scraggly forsythia and are in the process of dealing with the English ivy. Hoping to ultimately replace with a mix of more native and wildlife-supportive trees/shrubs/shade-loving groundcovers ...
Given that it's already going to be mid-September by the time we are through - what's the best way to proceed? I was thinking that if I could find some daikon seeds, maybe they would grow big enough to make some room in the soil before it got too cold and then we could do our planting in the spring?
Or should we just try to get some of these things into the ground ASAP now (assuming I can even find them)? Or cover the ground with cardboard and just ignore it until the spring? Or something else altogether?
It's not a huge amount of space but we've got limited time and skill so I'm not trying to make life harder than it needs to be. It's maybe a 4' border that runs in an L shape about 30' x 60'.
No warning or anything, I can't believe it.
Hello! I would love to trade cuttings if anyone is interested. Listed above are the bushes and trees we have on our property that I can take fresh cuttings of. I am looking for berry bush cuttings or any edibles. Thanks :)
Does anyone know a garden centre in the HRM that is carrying forsythia plants / bushes ?
Thanks in advance & happy gardening !
