I've noticed that all I hear is Drag Race Down Under and few even talk about Drag Race Espana. Yuhua Hamasaki has ignored it, we haven't yet had a Fashion Photo RuView of Episode 2 (which is really disappointing because Alexis and Nicki did such a great job).

All I hear is Drag Race Down Under and I really don't even want to know that racist season exists. For me, it's all about Drag Race Espana.

And the host is amazing. Supremme is everything RuPaul isn't: kind, considerate, no ego and laughs at stuff that is actually funny and she especially doesn't give racists a pass.

Just watched the latest episode and I really want to applaud the Spain version of Drag Race!

I haven't had such great time watching the show like since I don't know when. Yes we had great Drag Race UK 2 but very questionable judging and two main judges being American just didn't give me the same feeling I have with Spain.

They are all SO ENGAGED and happy to be there - the judges CARE for the queens and give them constructive critisism and we finally have FASHION-ADVICE from smb who is capable of givine one aka Ana.

Overall the vibe is just sooooooo up-beat and pleasing - it is like everybody just doesn't take themselves seriously and I love it so much. There is no calculated game-play from the queens and the judges - the show just goes with a flow and it is INCREDIBLE!

So - go and watch Drag Race Espana and Follow all the queens and the judges on social-media.

My Finnish Great Grandmother was named "Suomi". Is this a common first name for a Finnish girl? Would it have been in the early 20th century?

Despite not being a Spanish hence not being able to understand the cultural references / nuances, this franchise just brings me pure joy.

I particularly like this show's solid characterization of contestants with very organic storytelling, like I could get to know the contestants' personas without the feeling of them being introduced to me via 'producer pushes'. Also I like learning cultures foreign to mine.

Nothing feels FORCED. Like the queens are throwing playful shade and just living their best life.

Also probably unpopular but Dovima (despite somewhat having zero personality and this whole dead-inside vibe) is funnier than most Comedy queens we have had.

I may even go as far as saying this season can be the best we have had cause not only are the queens so good and the editing just feels right - THE JUDGING FINALLY MAKES SENSE and the judging-panel just GETS IT! Supremme saying that they have the best queens worlwide warmed my heart so much <3

P.S.

I loved Canada and UK2 a lot as well but the judging there sometimes just didn't make sense at all and it soured my experience with those seasons and Espana has been killing it even at the judging-portion and Supreme almost tearing up at each elimination just shows me how REAL the show is.

Okay, hear me out. Have you have that instant feeling of this is gonna be a good one at the start of every season? Because I swear, Drag Race Espana is looking really good and episode 1 has exceeded my expectation. Amazing personalities plus great judging and an overall feeling of good energy. Whereas, in Down Under...I could already tell I wasn't gonna stay tuned on episode 1 alone.

I was expecting to be obsessed with Sagittaria (way too snobby for her own good) or Inti but Carmen Farala stole my heart. Gorgeous, charismatic, very sweet, sexy (as a girl and a guy) and it still blows my mind that she designed that outfit and still didn't win.

She gives me J.Lo star quality. That's just my take on her. She's definitely going to be a fan fave. Sagittaria is cute but short on the likability but maybe she'll grow. I mean, Aquaria was a bit of a bitch in the beginning and became a lot nicer when it became clear she was just very shy.

So I've learnt some Spanish before, but I never seem to remember much other than how to catcall people and other questionable phrases. Watching Drag Race Espana now and I'm learning a lot of new words! Unfortunately, I don't think my Spanish is going to get any cleaner.

As a reminder I use the typical Dusted or Busted system, where each episode a queen earns 2 points for a win, 1.5 points for top 2 placement, 1 point for a high placement, 0 for safe, -1 for low, and -2 for lipsyncing. You earn triple points for your winner, double points for your finalists, and single points for your players.

A tiebreaker system is in place, based primarily on how often your queens were chosen. If you bet on a black horse in the competition, and have the same score as someone with a draft of fan favorites, you win the tie! The tiebreaker formula takes into account your whole draft and ensures that unless you have the exact same draft as somebody else, you will not have the same score.

The Queens

First off, let's talk about how the queens were rated for this season. Everybody had one winner, two finalists, and three players. With that, I came up with a rating for each queen. For each winner pick, they got 3 points, each finalist pick, 2 points, and 1 point for each pick as a player

Here's how they stacked up

Every queen was picked at least once in each category, with Hugáceo emerging as the frontrunner. There was remarkably little difference in the final ranking between the 5th-9th ranked queens, with just 4 points between the final rating.

This first week, we had three people with the high score of 9 points. Those three are Geneva, u/lzarc, and Thepstandsfor. So, this came down to the tiebreaker. Our official winner this week is Geneva!
