I ask in part because on the surface the two (EDIT: nominal) systems seem very much aligned, but deeper down, the samurai of Japan seem to have had a martial role far more strongly than the Chinese gentry, whom it was generally expected would be cultivating the civil arts. This gives me pause as to considering the other three rungs as being equivalent as well: was the Japanese conception of a peasant, artisan or merchant the same as the Chinese? Or am I overthinking things?

Sources of mine within the London aristo society circles have confirmed to me that Eugenie has been outed within the family as the one leaking information about events or secret plans and other information to the Sussexes. She has effectively been cut off from the Cambridges, Tindalls, Philips, Anne, Wessexes, Queen and Charles & Camilla. Edo apparently does not like her, and her relationship is strained with Bea because of Eugenie’s inferiority complex, jealousy of her sister and her annoyance that Bea dared to give birth the same year as she did, and that Bea got to marry so quickly. Jack isn’t coping well since his father’s illness and death, neither is his mother apparently and Eugenie has been getting at him over his lack of public support for her parents. Quite a few of Eugenie’s old friends have cut contact with her, and dislike her continued support for the Sussexes after everything they’ve done. Her support towards them when they did what they did while Philip was dying is a big factor in why Bea and Edo are strained with her, and the recent Switzerland holiday was a PR stunt to prove happy families. There is also talk that Eugenie holds it against Bea for marrying a man who already had a child, and Bea hates her distaste towards Wolfie, and the pap walk that she did with the necklace with B, E, W & S was a shot at Eugenie, that Wolfie is 100% family to her, and just as important as Sienna to her. Eugenie likes to point out that August is the first grandchild and grandson for their parents, when Bea & Edo know that Wolfie was warmly welcomed and accepted by A&S and by the Queen & Philip.

A little introduction is needed. I initially posted this story on an Italian forum under the topic “the stupidest DM you ever had”, but a friend of mine asked me to post here in RPG horror stories. First things first, I should apologize in advance for my bad English, as this is the first time I write such a lengthy text in foreign language so please excuse any error in syntax or grammar. And speaking about lengthy, buckle your seats because this is a long story. Like, so long that I had to divide in chapters (no kidding, we’re talking 1 hour long or more read).

The reason for such wordiness is because this was not wrote straight away, but rather in small fragments along the months of this delirious campaign. So here is it, the almost word-by-word translation from the original post:

After my umpteenth attempt to play a D&D campaign, gone dead because the usual absentee players, I was able to find a group of players in my city thanks to some unforeseen miracle. And by “miracle” I mean a divine intervention, from an unnamed deity who decided to relentlessly punish me in this earthly realm. I do not believe in reincarnation, but if that’s actually true after enduring this campaign I will reborn in a well-hung billionaire. With wings.

By getting in touch, I learn this is a Pathfinder group who came to be from the union of other players who, just like me, had to deal with various desaparecidos that constantly defect sessions out of the blue. Thinking back about it, I can safely say the frequency and the punctuality of the group, both players and DM, was a huge step forward for me. It was the ONLY step forward for me. But let’s go in order.

I would have liked a D&D 3.5 campaign, but they played Pathfinder (1° edition); not a problem, I already knew most of the rules/differences because in my many years of DMing I considered switching game system, and I also allowed in one of my campaign one of my players to use a Gunslinger in the 3.5. The DM, however, warned me there would be few modifications to the core rules, along with homebrewing, banning and restrictions to avoid any possibility to break the game. In my hearing that, I was already growing the aforementioned pair of wings…

You see, the campaign was set in our world, around 1850 in England, but magic exists. Creatures like demons, werewolves and vampires are seen as legendary being, and if they really existed in the past they are now long extinct; the magic is also considered stuff of legends,

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

This is going to be a brief outlining of the reasons why Aizen shits all over Madara and my best attempt to figure out how DB might give Madara the win.

aizen just won't fucking die

Even after his defeat and imprisonment, during which we can assume that the Hougyoku was also removed, nothing the Soul Society tried could kill Aizen. That means that Aizen was capable of surviving attempts on his life from characters as destructive as Yamamoto to characters as brilliant as Mayuri, and he walked away no worse for wear. Essentially, if you claim that Madara is capable of kiilling Aizen, you're alleging that not only would Madara win against the entire Soul Society, he would win against the entire SS while they also had functionally unlimited prep time.*

Madara literally admits that he was nearly killed by Might Guy, a dude who's only ability is to hit really hard. Incidentally, one of Might Guy's most impressive feats is the fact that in his final attack, he moved fast enough to distort space. Aizen's favorite kido, Black Coffin, happens to do the exact same thing.

kyoka suigetsu is broken

Yeah that's it. Madara has no counter to it. For that matter, no one in Bleach except for Yhwach (who only manages to be immune by having his own brand of broken, and even he was briefly affected by it), has a counter to it. It's just that broken.

Madara can bust out his fire release, and his wood release, and his susanoo and truth seeking orbs and anything he wants and absolutely none of it matters because Aizen can sit down and sip tea from a safe distance while Madara fights air for as long as Aizen wants him to. Aizen can literally exhaust Madara for as long as he wants and then teleport in and deliver a killing blow whenever he wants.

"but the sharingan/rinnegan sees through illu-"

No. The sharingan sees chakra which enables them to more easily perceive genjutsu, and thus break out of it. The rinnegan, meanwhile, was capable of seeing through the infinite tsukuyomi, but not anything else. Kyoka Suigetsu is not a genjutsu and doesn't function through anything resembling chakra. If you see it (or see Aizen after he merges with it), you are under its control. Knowing that you are under its control (which Madara wouldn't unless he's given prior knowledge) won't break you out of it.

How did Aizen ever lose with such a broken ability? He never uses it against Ichigo and then is outdone by Yhwach's bullshittery. That's it.

While watching the series, I had a reflection that under the guise of gags and touching, although cheap, moralizing, Gintama carries a certain thought about the attitude of the Japanese towards his country after the Second World War. The Amanto invasion and the "prohibition of the sword" undoubtedly refer to the historical events of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries related to the end of isolationism and the imposition of Western patterns as a result of the American occupation. I do not know how much influence in the presented world aliens have on the development of technology (in other words - whether it is also a kind of "boon" from the "invaders"), but it certainly contrasts with the still lingering elements of traditional Japanese culture - for example architecture or clothing. At the same time, the main character is presented as an old freedom fighter who, however, abandons his nationalist ideals and goes on a kind of internal emigration. He does not believe in ancient Japan and its customs, but focuses on specific people and relationships with them. Nationalists, meanwhile, are portrayed as goofy and clumsy (Katsura) or dangerous and destructive (Benizakura and Shinsengumi Crisis Arc guys), though not necessarily ethically evil (rather something like "lawful evil" or "chaotic good"). On the other hand, we still like the "collaborators", i.e. Shinsengumi, who, in their opinion, also fight for the "good of the country" and are often distinguished by their positive behavior.

Perhaps I over-interpret and do not fully notice certain things (I'm only around the hundredth episode), but it seems to me that the Japanese and the Germans are united by the fact that both nations have firmly rejected their past and made a strong turn towards a more progressive and peaceful society, which but it was somehow imposed by force. At the same time, there are still both these elements (nationalism, traditionalism, national pride versus progressiveness, openness and peacefulness) which somehow react with each other and must be kept in check. However, there is a certain inclination towards new values, a certain compliance and rejection of great ideas in favor of - one could say - humanistic values. After all, the three main characters are not actively involved on either side of the dispute, and they experience adventures in a variety of different Edo environments.

I think I've written this thought quite chaotically, but I wanted to start some sort of discussion.
