I don't understand this, I feel incredibly uncomfortable talking about something unless I've spent some time researching the subject. Even if I've already done previously and I'm 99% sure I know what I'm talking about. I just don't get the benefits of trying to discuss something you don't actually understand that well.
So this just happened less than two hours ago. I've been given permission by my fiancé as he thought it was fairly funny and strange himself.
Background: I (19F) and my fiancé (20M) are both exmormons. We left the church when we were a lot younger for a few different reasons. My parents are still very religious and I'm able to respect that. My fiancé's father is very religious as well, but he takes it to the extremes. We often butt heads with him as we respect his beliefs, but have chosen not to follow them ourselves. My fiancé and I are expecting our first baby and it will most likely be born out of wedlock for personal reasons, and his father likes to express his displeasure and insert himself into our relationship by shoving religion into our faces.
Today, I was sitting downstairs with my fiancé's mother, his younger sister, and his father. His father started to lecture his daughter about her school project and how the grammar was horrible (while also admitting he knew nothing about grammar. He was wrong by the way, her grammar was absolutely fine). He then began to rant about how schools aren't teaching real history and how it's all wrong. He wanted us to learn about Hitler, Stalin, and other individuals that we DO learn about in school. I remember spending a whole month on the Holocaust and learning how incredibly important it was that we didn't repeat history. Well, we then began talking about Christopher Columbus for absolutely no real reason. The conversation then took the weirdest, and most unexpected turn ever.
According to him, the education system is wrong about Christopher Columbus. Apparently, Christopher Columbus wasn't as bad as he is portrayed in history, and that he left Spain in search for religious freedom as he was being oppressed. He also created Thanksgiving too. I mentioned to him that I think he may have been confused with the pilgrims and that Columbus had been looking for a new route to the West Indies. He proceeded to say that it's in the scriptures and that I didn't know what I was talking about. When his wife and daughter joined in and backed me up, he kept trying to say that the BoM proved that what he was saying was true, and that the education system was full of crap. He just refused to believe the facts even when his daughter brought up an article to prove our points.
I personally haven't ever read anything in the BoM about Christopher Columbus, so I could be wrong. I'm nearly certain that he had confused the pilgrims

Whenever something triggering happens I just loose my ability to respond. Like I always get surprised at how people can act and why they do this and that. I just stand there like a fool staring at them like "what did you just say/do?"
I easily get triggered by men who feel entitled to me. Like wether they be trying to touch me or say some weird comment. Just the entitled shit. Today at work I was chatting with a customer about that I'm going to move to another city with my bf, since we're both going to college. And a man 20+ older than me cuts off and says "So you're not breaking up with your boyfriend before? You should have some fun and sleep around!"
And I just got dumbfounded as usually and uttered a quiet... "no...?" But in reality I would have loved to say "That's none of your f'n business you nasty old geezer. Gtfo and don't speak to me ever again."

So just to clarify this is not my story, this is a friend of mine’s, also am on mobile so sorry for wrong formatting or grammar. So lets call my friend A, the mom M, stepfather is SF and grandma is G. So my friend who was a straight A student started to get lower grades because of quarantine, because its hard to keep track of all of your work when some teachers are not professionals and upload work on various different websites. The 2 teachers were gonna focus on are for english (Grimm) and history (hagan). Stuff that might be a little important are: We are in 8th grade, graduating in 2 weeks, were both straight A students, he is in honors, I’m in regular, our parents are friends, and we arent really the best example to be set to others. Ok onto the story: Grimm who is a fairly old teacher doesnt really know how to use the online schooling system, so she assigns work that you cant physically do because there is no description provided, no way to turn it in, and you cant really talk to her abt it cuz her office hours are dummy early being from 10-11, which is 2 hours less than all the other teachers. A tried to email her multiple times but would never get a straight answer, so he was pretty much on his own with me and a couple friends helpin on a discord call. All of a sudden A leaves the call on our server and calls me seperately, and as soon as i join he deafens himself. I hear him showing his mom the emails between him and the teacher, all the work she never assigned that he got a 0 for, etc. After that he disconnected from the call altogether. Keep in mind his mom is a doctor so she is taking this pandemic way to seriously, like to the point were she puts packages in a 2 week quarantine, scrubs the floors daily, cleans shoes daily, etc. but its not her that does all this because she is too lazy to, she makes A do it. We went on a walk about 4 days ago, but we had to keep distance, wear masks, gloves, and no water, yea, NO FUCKI** water. We had to go on a 2 hour long hike without water. I jokingly coughed, for which she said that this would be the last time we would hang out until the pandemic is over. He gets yelled at for the stupidest reasons and dgaf about anyones opinion, including SF, and G. My friend wants to move out and move in with G but his mom doesnt want that because then she wouldnt have control. She has driven him to do some stuff, that i wont talk about here. She forces him to go on walks daily, which take hours, and then she takes him w
