A list of puns related to "Duke Ellington"
βHe was the most chronic of procrastinators, a man who never did today what he could put off until next month, or next year. He left letters unanswered, contracts unsigned, watches unworn, and longtime companions unwed, and the only thing harder than getting him out of bed in the afternoon was getting him to finish writing a new piece of music in time for the premiere. βI donβt need time,β he liked to say. βWhat I need is a deadline!β
opening lines from Duke: A Life of Duke Ellington, by Terry Teachout
In season 4 episode 8 Andrews grandfather turned into a ghost where his body was which means that your ghost stays with your body and not where you died so duke ellingtons body might be in Nicks attic
Hello all!
I have to write a paper about duke Ellingtonβs unique contributions/influence on the jazz genre, but I am having a lot of trouble finding material that tells me about it.
I read everywhere online that he played with a lot of swing and was very unique, but I simply cannot find any articles telling me his exact contributions to the genre.
Can anyone please supply notes or sources that can explain his contributions to jazz?
(Or at least point me in the right direction)
Thank you for any information!
Edit: thank you to everybody for all your help! I only used one book, but I got an A+ :)
come and join and post.

My boyfriend and I are trying to find the lyrics online but cannot find them anywhereβ¦ he was brought up as a JW and this year will be his first Christmas and he wants to learn the lyrics as a gag for Christmas Day. π
Anyoneβs help with providing the lyrics would be much help to make his Christmas dream come true! π
Edward Kennedy "Duke" Ellington: Born April 29, 1899
Louis Daniel Armstrong: Born August 4, 1901
I was doing some research about jazz and came across this nugget. Very interesting considering that Duke Ellington's music is considered to have come after Louis' in the evolution of jazz.
Hello everyone, just selling some titles from my collection. Have recently moved to the city, so I can provide better shipping rates than before! $10 within Canada, $15 to the USA, +2 for each additional record. All prices in USD. Always happy to work out deals or trades. Thanks for looking!
The Beatles - Rubber Soul (mono) record looks and plays great, one Mr. βSHEWELLβ wrote their name on the top of the label on side 1. Sleeve is just beginning to split on the top which is a ten second fix. Normally I would fix it myself and call it VG+, but I havenβt got any glue! VG+/VG $30
Little River Band - First Under The Wire MFSL NM/VG+. Vinyl looks like it was probably never played, sleeve has some light wear around the edges. $32 SOLD
Duke Ellington - Ellington Indigos Original Columbia 6-eye pressing from Canada. Vinyl has some superficial marks but plays great. $18
The Beatles - Twist and Shout this record is essentially the Canadian version of Please Please Me with most of the same songs from 1964. Plays great, one pop on A3 from a pressing error but otherwise NM play wise. Sleeve is a strong VG+ with just some light ring wear along the top. $60
Elton John - Madman Across the Water US 1971 copy. VG+/ VG+. Booklet included. $9
Roxy Music - Avalon Original Canadian copy. EX/VG+. OIS. $10 SOLD
Alan Parsons - Eye In The Sky VG++/VG++. OIS included. $7
OMD - Architecture & Morality EX/EX. OIS. $10
Swamp Blues compilation this here is a Mississippi delta blues compilation. I say G+/G+ due to a seam split, some light scratching and dust, but could easily be a VG/VG after a clean. $8
Cocteau Twins - BBC Sessions this is a CD, not a record, but I figured there might be some interest. Mods please donβt crucify me! I
... keep reading on reddit β‘Every time I listen to βin a sentimental moodβ by duke ellington I cant help but hear the main wonderwall vocal melody at 1:02. Do you think this is a coincidence or Oasis were influenced by the song? There are alot of little nuances throughout the song that link to this idea too. Anyone else heard this or am i just thinking too deep.
Please share! Duke is just the best and I love hearing others' spin on his tunes. I just discovered one I hadn't heard before, spurred this post. Favorites that come to mind β
Ben Webster Perdido
Nina Simone I Got it Bad and That Ain't Good
Jazz Messengers Caravan
.And a recent fave, Charles Lloyd and Jason Moran Mood Indigo
