The hierarchy of DNS request works like: Your PC browser, Resolving Name Server, Root Server, TLD, Authoritative Name Server, Resolving Name server, Your PC.
On Cisco router Neil tells about these commands: 1: ip domain-lookup 2: ip name-server A.B.C.D 3: ip domain-name WORD 4: ip domain-list WORD 5: ip dns server 6: ip host WORD A.B.C.D
But it is very hard to understand the purpose of those commands.
1: This enables resolving of domain names on routers. What does it mean by resolving ? Routers have local caches for DNS ?
2: The name server can be set to a server or self. If we add self as name server, why did we enter domain lookup command ? Can we add more name servers ? I tried in packet tracer but next name server overrides previous one.
3: What is the purpose of this command ?
4: Also I don't get the difference between this and domain name.
5: This command is not even in packet tracer.
6: This adds an address record in router if we are making it a DNS resolver server. It works in conjunction with ip dns server command.
7: Finally, What is a DNS Client ? Purpose of it ?

On a LAN this is a fairly easy thing to implement. There are multiple DNS filtering services or you could just use something like a pi-hole of you're low budget. It seems to get harder when you have remote users.
How do you handle DNS filtering for users who aren't necessarily on the VPN 100% of the time?
Under new guidelines proposed by MarkMonitor and others who represent the same industries that backed SOPA, domain holders with sites associated to "commercial activity" will no longer be able to protect their private information with WHOIS protection services. "Commercial activity" casts a wide net, which means that a vast number of domain holders will be affected. Your privacy provider could be forced to publish your contact data in WHOIS or even give it out to anyone who complains about your website, without due process. Why should a small business owner have to publicize her home address just to have a website?
We think your privacy should be protected, regardless of whether your website is personal or commercial, and your confidential info should not be revealed without due process. If you agree, it’s time to tell ICANN.
