STORYTELLING POSSIBILITIES: Starting with The Mandalorian... I think these sequel stories are already adapting the Thrawn trilogy. I believe Thrawn will be the new big bad of the galaxy, with a new Empire of his own.
The Mandalorian Season 2 was a hefty season of set ups for upcoming and possible shows. It brought together the prequel and original era of Star Wars... Add to that are the numerous shows announced for the brand during Disney Plus Day 2020
So what if....

Ahsoka, last seen asking for Thrawn, will eventually meet Ezra again, in her show. (reintroduce the importance of Rebels' plotlines in live-action)

She meets Luke and they both learn more about Anakin, before, during, and after Vader. Reintroduce the importance of The Chosen One, and how Anakin is still affecting their future.

Kenobi and Anakin, whatever their actions may be in the Kenobi series, will affect the future (tackle the past and aftermath of the Clone Wars' effects in live action)

Luke has a Jedi Academy that can introduce characters from Legends lore... Imagine them being Grogu's masters.

The Acolyte, set in the ancient times (could reintroduce Legends Sith Lords), may affect and reintroduce a new version of the Sith in the future, an opposing force towards Luke's goals.

They could take some ideas from the sequel trilogy and adapt a version of Dark Empire. Snoke can be reintroduced and revealed as a successful clone of Palpatine that has been possessed by his spirit.

Din Djarin has already become The Mandalore and will probably continue to rebuild Mandalore going forward, uniting the creeds.

Grogu will become the second Mandalorian Jedi, a product of the teachings of a Jedi grandmaster and The Mandalore himself.

Boba Fett becomes most revered crime boss across the galaxy after killing Cad Bane (if the rumours are true)

All these Jedi, Bounty Hunters and Mandalorians, going on an all out war against a properly revived Sith by Snoke and separately built Empire by Thrawn.

Also a chance to disregard everything the sequel trilogy did and tell a better and coherent story that can connect every era of the franchise. Or you know, "Fix" the sequels the way Clone Wars did the prequels.
Anyway, there goes my theory/fanfic.... Sht on it, love it, anything you can say about this is duly appreciated. Let's improve and brainstorm this btch.

I think a lot of us would enjoy if new Legends were made as well as canon content. Would you? Why or why not? And what would you wish for?
Personally, Iβd love a new Zahn book focusing on Mara between The Last Command and Specter of the Past. It could be a one-off adventure story set either during her time working with Karrde, her missions with Lando, or her time running an independent business.
Iβd also be interested in another Luke and Mara story between Vision of the Future and the NJO, a la Survivorβs Quest.

They just released Darth Talon, a legends character who supposed to one of the antagonists of George Lucas' sequel trilogy, which disney rejected.

So I've written and thought of my own fair share of rewrites for the Sequel Trilogy. About a month ago I did upload an overview of a potential rewrite I had to this sub, but when it came to actually writing it, I struggled as there was a lot of backstory and characters that made the overall plot feel messy. As such, I've started to rewrite the plot to make it more focused and deleted that last post, while still keeping some of the framework I initially had.
For this rewrite, I want to keep many of the story details that were present in the Sequel Trilogy we got (as there were quite a few elements I like from it). At the same time, I wanna take inspiration from the Legends material with a combination of my own ideas to create a new story (kind of like how the creative team behind superhero movies take concepts and storylines from various comic books as the basis of a new story).
Backstory / World Building
- Following the Battle of Endor, the Galactic Empire was shattered into various different factions as several stormtroopers began turning on one another to fill the power vacuum left in the wake of Palpatine's death. One such faction, known as the Imperial Dominion, has become the dominant power in the Outer Rim, taking over various planets. Its capital is on Kijimi.
- Meanwhile, in the Core Worlds, the Rebel Alliance would spend the next thirty years trying to battle the Empire remnants out. They succeeded in doing so, pushing these imperial militants into the Mid Rim, while also establishing the New Galactic Republic on Coruscant.
- By the time Episode VII has begins, the Dominion and the Republic are in a Cold War with each other. The Dominion controls the Outer Rim and the Republic rules over the Core Worlds; this leaves the Mid Rim where several imperial remnants are fighting against militants consisting of the planet's population. As such, the Dominion and the Republic provide money, weapons, and logistical aid to the Imperial remnants and non-Imperial belligerents, respectively. This creates for some interesting political tensions between the two without retreading what the original trilogy had.
Characters
The following include the cast of characters for this trilogy along with some fan castings that I've thought of. The villains will be talked about in a separate section in more detail:
- Rey Skywalker (Daisy Ridley). In this version, Rey is Luke's daughter from the start, as I think it's better to flesh her out as a character
