Recently I came across another person making a game almost exactly like mine, the only difference is they use an isometric camera and I use on-rails.
They're at about the same stage of development that I can see but have a considerably larger following.

Is there any quick way to refer to the intruder bag development stage? I was playing my first game recently and throughout the game I constantly had to refer to a certain page number of the rulebook and find out what happens when you draw a certain token.
Completely beats me why it’s not on the reference cards or the back of the rulebook? Am I missing an easy reference somewhere?
I tried looking up a scale for this but I couldn't find anything.

The original author of this article is unknown. I’ve first seen it posted many years ago on a forum I think, and I saved it because it made a lot of sense. As I read it again today, I still think it carries a lot of wisdom, and that’s why I want to share it. The 5 Stages Of A Trader’s Development:
Stage One: Unconscious Incompetence This is the first step you take when starting to look into trading. You know that it is a good way of making money because you’ve heard so many things about it and heard of so many millionaires. Unfortunately, just like when you first desire to drive a car you think it will be easy – after all, how hard can it be? Price either moves up or down – what’s the big secret to that then – let’s get cracking!
Unfortunately, just as when you first take your place in front of a steering wheel you find very quickly that you haven’t got the first damn clue about what you’re trying to do.
You take lots of trades and lots of risks. When you enter a trade, it turns against you, so you reverse and it turns again, and again, and again. You may have initial success and that’s even worse because it tells your brain that this really is simple and you start to risk more money. You try to turn around your losses by doubling up every time you trade. Sometimes you’ll get away with it but more often than not you will come away scathed and bruised. You are totally oblivious to your incompetence at trading.
Stage Two – Conscious Incompetence Stage two is where you realize that there is more work involved in trading and that you might actually have to work a few things out. You consciously realize that you are an incompetent trader – you don’t have the skills or the insight to turn a regular profit. You now set about buying trading systems and e-books galore, read websites based everywhere from USA to the Ukraine and begin your search for the holy grail. During this time you will be a system nomad – you will flick from method to method day by day and week by week never sticking with one long enough to actually see if it does work. I believe that the inclusion of the existing death penalties are purely to give long-term players something to spice up the current game meta. From a purely alpha/testing approach it makes absolutely no sense.
How am I, as an "alpha tester", supposed to take risks with a dangerous mission, ship manoeuvre's, etc. if there's a very real chance that the gun I'm using will be dropped in this random cave and stolen or lost forever, or my ship destroyed? The freedom to go nuts with a new weapon or ship is what allows us to find the limits of functionality and also any flaws of implementation, but that all goes out the window if I can literally die from standing in the wrong place on a train platform.
Even the new medical gameplay loop doesn't require death as an incentive; you can just give a reward to both parties participating in the rescue to ensure people don't just backspace their way back to civilisation, or just only deduct credits for offing yourself.
"What if they're hoping players can find hacks/workarounds for the current implementation of death?" That kind of testing is waaaaaay down the line compared to the other stuff they need to get sorted like cargo, server meshing, medical, combat, salvage...the list goes on. Implementing this penalty now will only slow proper edge-case testing of future feature implementations.
If I bring up an issue about the game I'm always met with the canned response "Well, it's only in alpha, what did you expect?", and yet it is now more difficult for me to experience any of the more extreme features of the alpha without risk of a serious reset to my possessions. The whole thing feels like it's been added to give something new to long-time players to keep them happy, to which I feel like saying "Why do you need something exciting? It's only an alpha, what did you expect?"
Alphas at their core should be about testing core functionality in tandem with development, of which there is plenty left to test when considering this game. It all feels a little "cart before the horse", and ever since the devs opened alpha up to pledge buyers, they've kinda backed themselves into a corner in terms of what stuff gets prioritised.
***EDIT: For reference, I'm a project manager that works on digital projects in the esports industry. If there is a feature that needs testing, but it crashes our prototype every 5 minutes, we remove it and have it worked on in a separate pipeline so that it doesn't hamper our testing of other feat
