Do inner hair cells of the cochlea release glutamate as well? Is it only outer hair cells that depolarise and release glutamate? How is this then relayed to the inner hair cell which sends information to the cochlear?

MiR-153 Inhibition Significantly Restores KNCQ4 in Cochlea After Noise Exposure and Attenuates Sensorineural Hearing Loss September 3, 2021

" The present study demonstrated that miR-153 can directly bind to 3′UTR region of KCNQ4, thereby causing striking suppression of KCNQ4 in mice after PTS noise exposure. The inhibition of miR-153 effectively restored KCNQ4 in cochlea after noise exposure in mice. Our findings provide a novel approach for the prevention and treatment of noise induced SNHL. "

post mortem autopsy of the cochleas for people with noise induced hyperacusis - would it help?

Hi all,

I just recalled how in the movie Concussion the doctor found chronic traumatic encephalopathy in the brains of NFL players by doing a detailed autopsy of the brains of NFL players. This got me thinking.

Do you think that something like this might help for H? There is so little known about this condition. Would doing a full autopsy on the cochlea of a person with H give any insight into what is causing our pain? Any thoughts, speculation?

I narrowed it down to noise induced hyperacusis to rule out H with a central cause.

Removing the cochlea

This is fine for people with tumors in their cochlea. So it's possible. I wonder if this would solve everything, be it at a cost of complete deafness and maybe worse tinnitus. Anybody have any info or thoughts on that?

Please no posts with 'it's not worth it' or 'you'll get better'.

READING the Third Cochlea Raid/Rushima Landing Operation arc.

Just read the entire 39 chapter arc in a day.

The Third Cochlea part of the arc was amazing.

The Rushima part started great but felt off by the end. Reminded me of the final arc of attack on titan in terms of pacing issues and feeling stretched out and the feeling of something missing when the main character is not being focused on.😅Still good with some excellent chapters within it.

What are your thoughts on this arc?

I just finished Re: chapter 98 so please no spoilers

[Tokyo Ghoul] what do the ghouls in cochlea eat, and why can’t street ghouls have it?

The ghouls in cochlea have to be eating something to stay alive, and from the prison break (at least in the anime) their kagunes all appear to be well. Why is the CCG killing street ghouls trying to survive, while feeding all the ones that’ve killed so many people they have to be put in a maximum security prison? Sorry if this is a stupid question. Spoilers are welcome.
