Is it wrong for me to read in a Catholic bible?

I am a member of the serbian orthodox Church , but I live and was raised in Germany. Even though I speak good serbian I feel more comfortable reading the bible in German. Since there are no German orthodox bibles I usually read in the Catholic bible. I'm afraid of doing something wrong by reading in a non-orthodox bible. Thanks for your answers!

I hate it when Christians/Catholics weaponize the Bible to justify imperialism + human rights violations, & portray it as God’s punishment for “sinners” and the apocalyptic downfall of humanity.

I’m talking about the book of revelations here. I hate it when Christians/Catholics use the Bible as a “prophecy” for Middle East politics and weaponize it to justify the tragedies civilians are facing in Middle Eastern countries - even go as far as to say that God is “punishing” them for their “sins”.

They point to the Middle East and act like the “sin” government and civilians are going to be the downfall of humanity, and the main theatre for “the apocalypse”. There is no self awareness, no self reflection. Have they seen the “sins” of the US/European government(s) and civilians?!

Imperialism, war crimes, corruption, and human rights violations by the US, European nations, etc is not God’s punishment. Nations collapsing and civilians suffering is because of the war crimes, corruption, imperialism and human rights violations the US and European nations victimize these Middle Eastern countries to. Their biblical arguments is absurd because it positions the US and European nations as “God”. Are institutions and systems “God”? No.

The idea that it’s in God’s will and it’s divinely ordained for the downfall of other nations and populations of people is a core tenant of the manifest destiny, and is centered in white supremacy, colonialism/imperialism, and exceptionalism.

The fact that people can’t look at that and think, “hey, this is really fucked up and something’s not right here”, is absolutely terrifying.

And the worst part is if you point this out, they’ll brand you as either an “evil person who works with Satan’s forces/Satan’s spawn” and/or an extremist against the US constitution. I mean, if our government supports, protects and serves a Christian/Catholic theocracy, white supremacy/exceptionalism, imperialism, war crimes, and human rights violations against non-whites and non-Christians/Catholics, then yeah - I’m against it.

And I’m here like, if our government and constitution is rooted in the Bible, then we live in a Christian/Catholic theocracy, under white supremacy/exceptionalism and we need to change our constitution so that it’s not rooted in that. But yeah, sure, I’m a “radical”. I’m so sorry I want a government and constitution that serves for all, not just a few.

I never want to hear something as awful as “God’s nation” and “God’s children”, because the hypocrisy and exceptionalism is revolting. Are those people and nations not of God and God’s children either? Or is it more convenient to strip them of that and demonize/vilify them

In 1609, Italian astronomer Galileo Galilei theorized that the galaxy followed a heliocentric model rather than a geocentric one. The Catholic Church condemned his theory, stating that he was trying to reinterpret the Bible. He was vilified during his life, but it was later proven that he was right.

Did some of the Netflix show characters represent Catholic bible characters?

Like is Matt supposed to represent St. Michael? Apologies if this sounds dumb, I get the surface level shit like him struggling with his faith being a big part of his character growth over the course of the show but I don't have the religious knowledge to pick this show apart and assign potential matches between the bible and it.

Anti-Catholic interpretations of the Book of Revelation and other books in the Bible that have apocalyptic beliefs regarding Babylon the Great, abomination of desolation, and the Antichrist and the False Prophet (I now know all of those things are toxic myths and failed prophecies)

Have any of you ever believed that the Catholic Church was Babylon the Great and that the Pope was either the Antichrist or the False Prophet or would make way for such beings when you were a Christian if you belonged to a church or denomination? If so, did you believe in such ideas and conspiracy theories? What do you think of them now that you got out of Christianity?

I encountered such interpretations of the Bible during my teenage years despite being a Catholic back then. I did believe there would be an Antichrist and a false prophecy as well as in other end times crap I read in the Bible, but I didn't believe in the anti-Catholic interpretations of such verses and passages. I didn't believe in such ideas, but I know someone in my "family" who looked up such false beliefs and theories and ended up believing them. I almost fell for those theories when I was a nondenominational Christian between 2019 and 2021, after being nonreligious from 2016 to 2019. It's so shocking, saddening, and angering that someone I know in my life now is an evangelical Protestant who believes that the Pope will either be the antichrist or the false prophet and that the Catholic Church is Babylon the Great, and that there will be a one-world government where the Christian devil and the antichrist will be worshipped by almost everyone except Christians and anyone who converts to Christianity and stays that way. They also believe Catholicism is not true Christianity nor is it biblical, and that Catholics worship and pray to Mary, other dead saints, and angels. I also know some other Protestants who believe such ideas and delusions. It's so frustrating and it's even more frustrating that there's still a lot of Christians and other religious people in the world today, especially those who don't want any progress and don't support human and civil rights advances for women, LGBTQ+ people, secular people, etc. and have sometimes reversed human progress.

I don't know how to show evidence that refutes those failed prophecies of the Bible about the end of the world which I now know that the authors of the different books of the Bible that talk about the end of the world believed were in that period and expected a messiah to come within their lifetimes and the lifetimes of their contemporaries, who they were writing to. It's so shocking but that's one evidence Christianity is not true and is in fact a cult. I can't even use the Bible to get such non-Catholic Christians to think critical
