A list of puns related to "Burnaby"
A huge thank you to all Burnaby City Snow Removal Employees. You guys killed it. Thanks so much for being out there as often as you were. While other cities were a mess Burnaby seemed prepared and did a great job. So nice to see our tax dollars going to work in the areas they should.
The McDonald's locations in Burnaby are charging customer 15 cents a bag even though it is a City of Vancouver only regulation. When I went to collect my food, I got a McMuffin wrapped in four napkins along with my two hash browns wrapped in four more napkins, which consisted of more waste than giving me a bag in the first place.
My dog got loose in north Burnaby this afternoon and bolted right for a busy intersection, he nearly got hit by one car.
I'm totally out of shape and I was wheezing by the time I got to the intersection after chasing him for two blocks.
Thank you to all the drivers who stopped to help catch him and stop traffic.
I'm curious to know how much your haircut is + how much you tip. I wanted to get an idea how much mine is compared to the "market" Currently my cut is $30+tax+tip = ~$38 total. If I pay cash though they don't tax.
Let me know in the comments :)
Posting from an old throw away because I donβt want problems with my social circle.
So the fire departments are deciding what to do about unvaccinated firefighters. I was pretty pissed to find out that Burnaby is paying for unvaccinated firefighters to get regular covid tests rather than putting them on leave or letting them go or at least making the fire fighter pay for their own test. Other cities are still deciding how to handle their unvaccinated firefighters.
Hereβs the thing. Yes - in theory their job is to fight fires. But in reality, a huge part of their job is assisting the elderly (lift assists, toaster calls, etc). So theyβre going into vulnerable peoples homes, a lot. A large part of their shifts are spent in the hall, in close quarters with their coworkers. While theyβre supposed to be maskedβ¦ yeah itβs not as strictly followed as one would hope (especially if the captain doesnβt think covid is a big deal).
Unlike the healthcare workers that were let go, there isnβt a shortage of firefighters. There are always hundreds of qualified applicants for positions. Theyβre extremely well paid for the amount of education and training they have to go through and for the amount of work they do in a day.
I understand that the firefighters and healthcare workers are overseen by completely different bodies, but this just seems wrong. It feels like a bit of a slap in the face to groups like the paramedics who lost staff when the vaccine mandate came down when they were already short staffed. Plus, if my neighbour down the hall falls down, does she have to worry an unvaccinated firefighter is going to be coming and picking her up? Sheβs vaccinated but extremely vulnerable.
Iβm not sure how I would go about voicing my complaint to my city representatives because I really donβt think they care about my one vote compared to an endorsement from the firefighters union. Can anything be done about this?
Around 10pm there was a small to medium build male maybe around 5β8-5β9 that was wearing all black with a hoodie up that tried to break into our home around Willingdon and Pender area!
We reported it to police as well. Careful if youβre around the area!
Merry Christmas everyone and stay safe!
Hi everyone,
I just got a Staffy pup to help with some stuff I've been going through, and while at the park I got told by someone that my dog needs to be muzzled (she's 4 months old, and was on leach the entire time).
when i got home i did some research and apparently Pitbull's, Staffordshire tarriers, and a few other breeds are automatically determined "Vicious dogs" even without prior incidents?
This seems weird to me as Vancouver doesn't have this, I have no issue muzzling my dog because she eats everything she finds, including rocks, but the cost to register her and license her were astronomical compared to other breeds.
This doesn't seem fair as I've had incidents with none "vicious" dog breeds being a lot more aggressive than I've personally seen any bully be.
After talking to the Bylaw office, they told us to put up a petition, so I'd love to ask if you have the time to help me get this bylaw changed, it's extremely outdated and I've seen that people have tried this before in the past (5+ years ago).

I have about 4 packages now that have been stuck in Richmond or Burnaby and havenβt updated since December 20th and I live not far away on Vancouver Island, I even have one that left Richmond and has been βin transitβ since December 20, even though I usually get it Delivered after 2 days of the βin transitβ scan.
