A list of puns related to "Blind Spot Monitor"
Got a new-to-me 2020 Camry Hybrid, just arrived Sunday, was driving it for maybe the fifth time total yesterday and got an alert that the Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert were both unavailable.
The alert came out of the blue, there were no other cars nearby on the road, there were no unusual weather conditions (some very light rain, temperature was mid 60s) or road conditions. Car has about 51,000 miles.
I've done some looking online but haven't found any definitive information about what this problem could be. Does anyone here have any idea?
Does it only come in Limited models? Thinking of purchasing a Santa Fe or Tucson that has it but the salesman said I can only get it in the Limited trim. Is this accurate info? Thanks
I test drove a Model Y some time ago and during the test drive I noticed that the blind spot monitor didn't activate any audible signal even once. I mentioned this to the rep, and he told me that maybe the chime was disabled. It was enabled. I am getting a bit concerned about this feature - whether it works or not/how well it works.
I am used to the system used in BMW which flashes a light next to the mirror, and vibrates the steering wheel, and Audi which flashes a light on the mirror in the direction fo the lane change, all of which are very obvious. The rep told me to look a the screen and only change if I don't see a red car, but that does not go far enough (i.e., if there's a speeding car going into the lane that I am trying to change to, it does not seem to be able to show it because of the field of view).
Please let me know what's your experience with the blind spot monitor...
Hello all!
I recently purchased a 2022 3.3T RWD G70. Today as I was driving, my Blind Spot View Monitor (I believe this is the technical name for it, but the camera that turns on when you use your left and right blinkers) stopped working.
I couldn't find anything online talking about this issue. I turned the car on and off, as well as turned the setting on and off, in an attempt to reset it but it didnt correct itself.
Has any one else run into this problem by any chance, and have a fix for it. Im hoping for something simple that Im missing so I can avoid having to take it in honestly.
Just bought a Toyota Highlander 2017 XLE edition. The BSM lights blink when I'm turning into a lane that has a car in the blindspot but there is audible beep to warn me. Is it normal behavior? How do I turn the audible alarm on?
Recently I was driving down a very busy 6 lane road. I was in a middle lane in my european compact car while a huge hulking pickup truck was in the lane to the right of me. There were quite a lot of traffic and everyone was following the flow of their lane.
Suddenly the right lane slows down. The pickup truck instantly starts to switch to my lane. I notice his sudden maneuver but it's a bit too late to react. Before I can brake to avoid the accident I notice his side mirror has light that blinks rapidly, the truck jerks back into the lane and slows to not smash into the cars in front. Accident avoided before I could touch the brake pedal.
It was the truck's onboard computer. It saw me even though the driver didn't and intervened to keep him from hitting me. The blinky light in his side mirror was the blind spot monitor. The jerking motion back into the lane was probably the LKA.
I can't even imagine the damage this accident would have caused on a packed 6 lane road going at a decent speed. It certainly would have ruined everyone's day.
Everyone likes to say bad things about these active safety systems but now I've seen first hand how they improve road safety.
Hello, I just ordered a new Rav4 Hybrid in Poland, I got a mid trim level, in Poland it's called Comfort (also added a package called Style that adds wireless charging, electric trunk, center screen etc). But in Poland (and Europe I guess?) blind spot monitor is only available in the most expensive trim level. Is it possible to switch the mirrors with a stock blind spot monitor? If so how many parts are required and how much would it cost?
Is there any reason that I should or shouldn't just leave these features on all the time? I got a 2022 TRD off road a couple weeks ago and I haven't turned them on yet. But I don't see anything in the manual thaat would indicate it's a bad idea to just turn em on and leave em on. What do ya'll do with yours?
Has anyone had issues with the blind spot monitor lighting up when no ones there?
Service said the radar it uses sometimes picks up other things like automatic door openers you pass. Sounds like BS.
I just got a new to me 2017 Santa Fe limited Ultimate and it has the blind spot switch but when pressing the button it has no effect the light does not turn on.
Iβm loving my new M3 but man I really miss blind spot warning. In dicey situations where you need to make quick maneuvers, itβs so helpful.
I just need to rant because this and Apple Music are such hanging fruit and their absences are really felt for me.
We are looking for a minivan. We have 2 small kids and a large dog, and have parents/in-laws visiting often and need a bigger people hauler.
Narrowed down my option to the Sienna XLE trima, as the comparable Odysseys are more expensive, and they are based on timing belts, which is an expensive maintenance once they hit 100K miles.
My preference is the 2018 , as depreciation has kinda been paid for. Reddit fam - what do you think?
Just drive my outback across country and as I was driving I noticed the blind spot detection was a little wonky. Whenever I would pass a truck (I would pass on left lane while truck was in right) my left blind spot would light up but not my right one. Some times even both would light up. Just wondering what I can do about this.
Hey I wanna know if the 2016-2018 camaro 2ss comes standard with blind spot monitoring but I canβt find the answer anywhere. If anyone can help me out itβll be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hello! I am looking to install blind spot monitor and Apple CarPlay to my 2015 Lexus CT200h. Any recommendations for places that offer such service in good quality and price are welcomed!
So for the 2020 model year they allowed you to get the blind spot monitor but for some reason it does not have rear cross traffic alert. They added it to the 2021 Corolla and seeing that rear cross traffic alert uses the same sensors as the blind spot monitor can a dealership add this feature?
Backstory: wife was driving home from work a few nights ago on a window night. A trash can blew into her path and she wasnβt able to fully avoid it due to oncoming traffic and an a-hole driving too close for her to slam in the brakes. She clipped it with the passenger side mirror. Thankfully she avoided damage to anything other than the mirror - which unfortunately was knocked clean off the car and smashed to pieces. I replaced the mirror with an aftermarket one that has the necessary BSM components, but Iβm still getting a message in the dash that thereβs a sensor malfunction. Iβm looking to avoid visiting the dealership where Iβm sure Iβll have to part with several hundred a few hundred bucks just for them to plug it into the computer and click a reset button.
Blindspot monitoring is such a basic feature now. I really miss it from my last car, I don't think all of my Model 3's camera and radar systems perform such a basic task as well. This car has fairly big blind spots, and looking at the screen isn't as convenient or safe. Nothing is as easy as simply look at the mirror.
Also the HUD seems like an incredibly easy way to keep the dash clean while still being able to show you your speed in front of you and keep your eyes on the road. I've seen Accords that have this feature, seems like a no brainer.
Still my favorite car though lol.
I tried to research this but couldn't find a definite answer. Anyone know if the SEL trim has the blind spot monitor, or is that only included in the Limited and Caligraphy?
I just put on a new set of wheels on my N to go with my winter tires, and my blind spot monitoring is giving me false positives for cars being in my blind spot when it is completely clear.
Has anyone else encountered this issue before? Google has produced no meaningful results for me.
Blind spot monitoring question.. Is there a way to make the car beep when putting the turn signal on AND when there is a car in your blind spot? I am used to the Honda CRV warning you as soon as you turn the blinker on with beeps plus the warning light on the mirrors if there is something in your blind spot. The RAV4 Prime XSE currently makes no sounds.
I'm new to the car world (let alone the Hyundai world!) but I've been particularly interested in the new Blind Spot View Monitor which is rolling out on the Santa Fe, Palisades and Tucsons. I live around congested NYC highways, so this could be the item that pushes me over the line to choose a Hyundai. I'm a great driver but I get nervous when changing lanes and having to look in blind spots.
I'm curious what peoples' experiences are with the BSV compared to just the light-up blind spot detector. Am I foolish to make a decision based on a car having the BSV as opposed to just the detector? Would really value any experiences. Thanks so much.
Hey everyone, I have a 2015 3 Hatchback Touring (before that my first Mazda was a 2010 3 Touring) and last Jan we leased a 2019 CX5 Sport.
The blind spot monitoring on my 2015 works perfectly, once I got used to having this tech I trust it and never doubt it. Yet on the 2019 CX it's detecting cars what seem like 2 or almost 3 cars behind me so I can't trust it because I think I have a car next to me when in reality I dont. So I look at my mirrors, turn my head and there's no car, the car is way behind me.
Does anyone else have this issue? Does the blind spot need to be calibrated? Or did Mazda change the detection? The car is due for an oil change next month and thinking about bringing it up then.
I mean your the driver trying to unlock for a passenger and they keep pulling on the handle at the same time:

Why is Acura placing bsm blinker on A pillar not on side view mirror like every other manufacturers? Anyone know the reason why? Acura's decision to do this is confusing me as even Honda is moving the placement for its newer vehicles from the A pillar to the side view mirrors.
Just ordered. Have not yet received my car.
Is there any feature to tell me NOT to change lane when a car is too close to me on that lane?
