Bellflower Puns

With the takes and changes on slavery in fantasy fiction, will these two huge pieces of lore simply not be pursued anymore?

Seems kind of a shame to flesh out region, culture and classes so much and then kind of drop them in the future.

Note: The character Kikyou Kabutozukamori is from the Touhou fangame 東方鬼葬剣 ~ Infinite Blade Pavilion; the character Sakura Tanaka is one of my original characters (OCs).

As the sun rose on another day in Gensokyo, two girls were seen sitting on top of the roof of the Hakurei Shrine.

“Hey…Happy New Year,” one of the girls—a human outsider with brown eyes, a cherry blossom pink hoodie, blue jeans, and black hair that reached down to her arms—began a conversation.

“Weren’t you here in Gensokyo for a New Year’s Eve party or something?” The outsider’s companion—a vengeful spirit with light cyan eyes, a body of armor, light gray socks, dark gray sandals, a pink scarf, a similarly-colored bow, and light purple hair—replied.

“I…I forgot about that, Kikyou! I totally forgot!”

“Well? It’s not like you’re an amnesiac or whatever. Besides, Sakura, time flies by quite fast—especially if you’re going through a major crisis like this pandemic that you and your sister—and the rest of the Outside World—have been stuck in for the past two to three years or so.”

“Exactly,” Sakura replied as she and Kikyou flew off of the rooftop and took to the skies of the Land of Illusions.

“So…shall we duel?” Kikyou proposed.

“It’s literally half-past eight. Are you sure you wanna disturb those who are still sleeping with a loud-ass danmaku battle?”

“No, but…”

“What? It’s just for fun! Besides, we haven’t done this in quite a while!”

“Fine, Kikyou—one thing: I’ll warn you that I’m not holding back, though!”

With a slash of her katana, Kikyou summoned red, arrowhead-shaped bullets that converged and aimed at Sakura, who swiftly dodged her friend’s danmaku.

“Cherry Sign ‘Cherry Blossoms Blooming in Profusion!’” Sakura retaliated.

“‘Ruin Butterfly!’”

Within fifteen minutes, both girls fell out of the sky and collapsed on the ground with a loud thud.

“So…do you think I won, Kikyou?”

The iron-willed vengeful spirit chuckled. “Maybe—but your patterns were shockingly beautiful.”

“What do you mean by ‘shockingly?’ Both my appearance and danmaku clearly fit my namesake.”

“I know. Almost all of my spell cards don’t fit my namesake—except for one.”

“Oh…goodness,” Sakura responded while backing up before flying up into the air as a precaution.

“‘BLOODSTAINED BELLFLOWER BLOSSOM!’” Kikyou screamed as she slashed her katana once again, summoning red arrow

Someone in the translation status thread said this deserves its own post, so I thought I'd give it one.

Unfortunately, due to IRL circumstances outside anyone's control, Senmomo's hacker is no longer able to commit to the project, so we're in need of a new one. Since it's mostly hacking work that still needs to be done, that means a patch for Chapter 1 will most likely not be coming out this year.

Lonesome and I can still get editing work done, and Darbury and Light can still perform their roles as well, so the project isn't dead in the water, but I'll be updating the Fuwanovel thread in hopes of finding a new hacker. If anyone reading this thinks they're able and willing to help, please don't hesitate to DM me. The main work remaining for Chapter 1 hacking-wise is:

• Making the animated calendar screens work. Kalazb started on this, and he's providing his files so his replacement can pick up where he left off.

• Script-related adjustments such as implementing italics and adding lines. Whenever the exact same line appears twice in a script file, the second is just a pointer to the first, so changing one changes them all. From a translation standpoint, that's not good. Our hacker will need to be able to insert a line there for real that we can work with.

• Potentially messing with the way text is displayed so the English line can actually fit inside the box.

I look forward to hearing from any potential helpers.

I struggled to beat him and chalked it up to not being prepared. Level 90 and came back to try again and he got hyper armor for days, never stops spamming charms at every opportunity, can guard break you whenever he feels like it, an instant command grab and counters are next to impossible since he can swing the odachi faster then the katana.

Long complaint short is it just me or is Saito just a steroid induced boss fight.

I swear I tried to do it the right way, I used every weapon and skill in my inventory, but no matter what I did I was still losing. (I don't like calling bosses, or video games in general, "unfair," but in this case I'm pretty damn close. Saito has fast magic, fast attacks, extremely high toughness, a massive moveset, and it sure seems sometimes like he has unlimited stamina, or close to it.)

Fast weapons didn't work, they didn't do enough damage.
Heavy weapons didn't work, they were too slow and I'd get flinched.
Ranged weapons, magic, and Yaoki abilities didn't work, Saito uses a Gust talisman that reflects ranged attacks.
Status effects sort of worked, but not nearly well enough to give me an edge in battle.

I swear I put in two hours trying to defeat this bastard, making no progress the whole time, I wasn't pushing his health bar down any further in the twentieth battle than I was in the first.

Finally, after going through my whole repertoire of attacks I realized that there's a high stance Axe action skill that can't be flinched! As long as I could face tank his first strike or two, I could hit him with this Axe skill, and on the rare occasion that it would deplete his Ki I'd be able to get in a few real attacks.

I don't like cheesing bosses, but once in a while it sure seems like there aren't many other alternatives.

Anyway, that's my shame, I just had to share it. Were it not for a single unflinchable Axe skill I'd still be fighting Saito this morning. =/ Maybe I'll have better luck when I face him again in NG+.
