Ballistic armour has an NIJ rating: Is there a rating for blunt impact armour?

The closest I could find is for motocross and couldn't find any official rating system.

I would assume that Football/Hockey players have rated padding and motocross does make sense.

I just couldn't find anything official/definitive grading system.

National Guard (GN) buys 12,000 ballistic vests against handgun, rifle and shotgun impacts

img

The acquisition for more than 258 million pesos is one of five items in the tender for tactical equipment and clothing

The National Guard bought more than 12 thousand level four ballistic vests to protect its elements, which have a great capacity to resist impacts from pistols, rifles and shotguns.

According to Compranet, a decentralized administrative body of the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), a contract was awarded to Textiles Lopagui for 258 million 626 thousand 191 pesos for 12 thousand 387 vests with the maximum protection available before the arsenals with which the organized crime in Mexico.

MILENIO published this September 6 that, between June 2017 and June 2018, the armed forces secured 17 thousand 56 high-power weapons, and 50 percent of them are concentrated in Tamaulipas, MichoacΓ‘n, Guanajuato and Sonora, where it has the greatest presence the Jalisco Nueva GeneraciΓ³n cartel.

The acquisition of these vests is one of five items of the tender "Acquisition of tactical equipment, field and clothing for National Guard personnel" in which canes and handcuffs, travel backpacks, sleeping bags, clothing were also purchased sports and food utensils, which represented a total expenditure of one thousand 97 million 644 thousand 527 pesos.

The agency requested a copy of the NIJSTD0101.06 certificate to accredit level four of the vests, and laboratory tests of the certification process, translated by a certified expert.

Within the specifications of the tactical equipment, the National Guard requests that it have a high security optical code that "allows its reading, uniqueness, validation and authentication"; and requested that coding technologies such as QR codes, laser marking, invisible ink marking and photographic registration be incorporated.

Likewise, the company will provide a system that "must include software and hardware with capture equipment, allocation table and code readers, computer equipment, server, operating systems, database and everything necessary for its implementation", this to streamline the process of assigning equipment to each warehouse and item.

Documentation must also be presented that proves its ownership or the exclusivity of its use, and new product certificates for the optical code reading equipment and the assignment equipment.

The document reveals that the remaining items correspond to the

Factors contributing to different comfirmed impact vs ballistic calc

Hey folks. I have an interesting case from a recent range trip. I was impacting pretty seriously low from what multiple calculators were telling me. I first noticed at 600 yards, and took out to 1,000. What started as about a .5 mil low, ended at .8 mil low from calculator to actual impact. 9.2/9.3 mil actual vs 8.5 calculator. In my experience, this is a massive deviation from what has otherwise been spot on calculators across multiple guns.

This is a new barrel and new scope, so I'm wondering what factors could have contributed. Atmospherics were perfect so it isn't that. Rifle setup in the calcs were also good, as was input data. I've made a possible causes list below, can anyone lend a potential hand as to what can cause a large variation here. Typically I'm .1 or .2 off at most, not close to a full mil.

Shooting 147 eldm at 2620 fps. Using 4dof and ab mobile.

Muzzle velocity drop- would have dropped 80 fps from Chrono data. 80 rounds through tube, it was pretty dirty when I cleaned. Possible? New barrel was chronoed in first 20 rounds. End of range trip had 80 rounds.

Zero shift- confirmed not this at range

lower BC/form facctor - probably not this, way too drastic over 10%

Hot barrel stringing - likely not, hot barrel groups well at indoor range.

Scope tracking error - need to test this. Would be huge error, over 8%

Unstable bullet - how do you test this? Shooting 147 eldm at 2620 fps in a 1:8 barrel.

How to identify and measure distance to ballistic point-of-impact ?

I'm an engineer who's part of a Punkin' Chunkin team with a problem to solve. How do we figure out where the pumpkin landed, and how far is the point of impact from the firing line?

It's quite hard to follow a pumpkin's trajectory in the air with the naked eye, and when we have practice shoots, we're not always shooting into flat, mowed fields where it's easy to see the impact. Right now, we shoot throughout the day, and then go hunting for the impact sites. So that got me thinking...

What are the ways I could detect and range a falling object and estimate its position relative to the firing line? anyone have experience in something like this? The ranges are from 900 -3500 feet (275m - 1100m)

If a ballistic missile were fired from North Korea and US Defense Dept assets it will impact US territory in x amount of minutes, what will the military response be?

As a resident of Hawaii, I have been thinking about this after Saturday's false alarm.

Say hypothetically North Korea launches a missile without warning as they have been past few months. Department of Defense detects the launch and based on its trajectory assets it will make impact near or around a US territory, say Guam or Hawaii, what will the military response be?

Maybe the missile is just a test and not carrying any warheads? Maybe it is carrying a warhead and they plan to detonate in a remote part of the ocean as a show of force? I assume the US military will not take that risk and shoot it down nonetheless.

What kind of missile defense assets do we have in place in the Pacific to shoot down a missile? How reliable are they?

How quickly after that missile is detected and its trajectory estimated does the US retaliate? Do we wait for it to impact its target (which could be as short as 15 minutes), then only after we launch our own missiles or bombers at North Korea? Or do we wait no time and launch our own response while their missile is still airborne?

Certain armor perks such as Impact Induction do not work with many Titan melees (Hammer Strike, Seismic Strike, Shield Bash and Ballistic Slam)

Perks proccing off of melees have been wonky in many cases. In the case of Titans something like Impact Induction does not work with all shoulder charge abilities and Ballistic Slam.

This has been the case since Forsaken when these perks became available, and it is unfortunate as it prevents grenade recharge builds from flourishing. I wished I could double dip into Striker's Seismic Strike grenade recharge, or even better: get grenade energy from Ballistic Slam kills.

As you can see in the video this does not actually work and is likely (hopefully?) unintentional.

It would be nice to hear if this can get fixed in a future update because I am actually excited to finally try out my envisioned Titan build that goes around slamming everything to get grenades.
