A list of puns related to "Australian Rules"
>Talking about Djokovic situation with Nets Australian player Patty Mills. Asked him if he thought rules should apply to everyone: "Yeah. I won an Olympic medal and quarantined in a hotel for two weeks."
Background is that Tennis star Djokovic tried to enter Australia unvaccinated and was denied entry for the Australian Open.
I am after a link to an .ics file (or similar) for the 2022 AFL Fixture. Can any one help me?
So as a truck driver, I've learned a lot of unwritten road rules that just work (or don't, because people are doing 1 thing to 2 sets of rules)
My top ones are:
When you come up to roadworks on a highway with queued traffic, put your hazards on so that anyone coming up behind half asleep gets that extra warning that cars are stopped
When someone lets you overtake them, it's polite courtesy to "wag" the indicators to say thankyou
When a long vehicle (B-Double, A Double, Triple or Quad) overtakes you, it's super hard for them to know when they are safely past you, so tap the main beams to let them know it's safe to pull back
If nothing else is going on and oncoming cars flash their main beams, there's probably a cop up ahead
Give way to the right at roundabouts (the rule is actually give way to traffic already on the roundabout, so first person over the line has the right of way)
Everyone always zipper merges (there's actually 2 different rules for merging)
Dual split on multi lane roads for emergency vehicles and putting your hazards on, technically, only one lane has to clear, but left lane pulls left, right lane pulls right, then you stick your hazards on to show the emergency services to just hammer down, you all know they're there
Then there's some interesting ones that took some getting used to, which are more local rules.
This Carpark gets 99% of its traffic going straight at the bend, so people don't indicate left to exit the road into the carpark, instead they indicate right to follow the road
This road has a 2 stage give way setup, but the residential road (Elm) has some weird deFacto right of way over the rural road (Harwoods)
This stupid bridge is acceptable for heavy vehicle traffic in all but the right 2 lanes, because it's just ridiculous to change lanes on the bridge with how steep it is. Car drivers generally do not hassle trucks on this bridge for being in the "wrong" lane.
So yeah, what are some interesting quirks to the road rules you have found over the years? What are some unwritten rules you follow and just know what they mean?
The kind of stuff you don't get taught or tested on.
The original Australian Rules football game offers to contemporary broadcasters, advertisers and footy nuts alike an indulgence bonanza of massive proportionate opportunity given those games reputedly went on for an entire week and the field of play spanned a distance between goals of 3.2 km (2 miles).
I donβt know if this type of post is allowed (feel free to remove if so) and sorry for the mobile formatting but Iβm at a loss!
So I live with my husband in the UK, I havenβt seen my family since precovid and have booked flights for January. Besides being homesick as fuck itβs the last time I will be able to see a few family members due to age or sickness. Our direct flight has been redirected to Darwin. It says the transit is a few hours but from what Iβm reading we have to quarantine in NT and quarantine again in WA? I donβt know how to make head or tails of it, I feel the information given on the websites are contradictory or maybe Iβm just confused by it all.
Any help would be much appreciated, I know that the rules are constantly changing. I want to see my family like so many overseas Aussies do
Much love to Perth, miss that place and the fuckers that live there x
Thank You!
Currently reading the excellent 'Footballistics' and have just read the section about Vic-bias and time-period bias in the HOF selections. This bit focused in particular on the exclusion of Margarey medallist, 1 x premiership player and 2 premiership coach Tom Leahy from the HOF. The author and his team made pretty compelling statistically supported arguments that non-Vic players and players from the pre-WW1 era are under represented.
Which players do you think are missing (or should have Legend status)?
Just got into Gaelic. This post I saw made me wonder.

So would skills from other football sports like punting n American Gridiron and power shots in soccer transition to Gaelic smoothly?
