TIL Katharine Hepburn is the only person to win an Oscar for portraying a relative. She was a direct descendant of Eleanor of Aquitaine, who she portrayed in The Lion in Winter and won best actress. Eleanor had been dead for more than 750 years when Hepburn played her.

Longrunning French team FDJ Nouvelle - Aquitaine Futuroscope maintained some of the momentum it had seen in 2020, gradually climbing the UCI team ranking. With almost no changes to its lineup by the start of the year, the team maintained a consistent presence in the finale of races across the calendar. Now entering its 17th season, FDJ looks to improve even more over the new few years.
#2021 Season Recap
The team had a remarkably consistent 2021 season. Despite just two wins, a handful of FDJ riders secured Top 10 results throughout the year, bringing in valuable UCI points and helping the team inch up the UCI ranking. The team's star rider, Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig was the most successful, factoring in the finale of a number of top-tier races, from Strade Bianche, Trofeo Alfredo Binda and the Vuelta a Burgos - where she finally notched a long-awaited World Tour win on Stage 3 - in the spring, straight through to La Course - where she outsprinted a strong final group to finish 2nd - the Tour of Norway and the Simac Ladies Tour in the summer. Γvita Muzic took the team's other win last year, becoming the French national road race champion. She also finished 5th in San Sebastian and GP de Plouay while showing her emerging strength in stage races. Emilia Fahlin came close to success in several stages and the overall of the ThΓΌringen Ladies Tour and secured Top 10s in several spring classics, while Italian talent Marta Cavalli showed some grit in the Giro d'Italia and Ceratizit Challenge and finished the first women's Paris-Roubaix with an impressive 9th place. Clara Copponi also had a late season surge at the GP d'Isbergues and The Women's Tour. At the latter, she secured two stage finish podiums as well as 3rd place overall - the team's best GC result in a stage race all year.

Richard the Lion hearted is more a hero for Aquitaine than for England
ive debated about that with some students in my class (in Aquitaine haha) and they preferred the old "he is more English" but i disagree, he was raised in Aquitaine and loved being here and not in England so i think we should consider him our hero
since some before have disagree with me i suppose that it is an unpopular opinion

What can you tell me about Eleanor of Aquitaine?
I started having interest in her through Sid Meierβs Civilization 6 however it was a bit hard doing research on her because many articles mention other historical figures that I donβt know so it is extremely difficult to know what is going on because it feels like Iβm watching a show but starting in the middle of a season. Can anyone tell me things she is significant for? And if possible, what are Courts of Love? Was Eleanor famous for them?

Richard I (the Lionheart) Denier. S.8006, minted in Aquitaine. This is the rarer type with the cross below Richards name as opposed to on top. This is my first Anglo-Gallic coin and Iβm stoked to have a coin with Richards name on it as all his coinage minted in England has Henrys name I believe.

I'm confused.. Fidelias and Invidia Aquitaine
Hi! I'm currently reading the final book in the series, just started. Fidelias/Marcus is thinking about how he betrayed Invidia Aquitaine by shooting her with a poisoned arrow, which led to her being saved by The Vord Queen.
