A list of puns related to "Abaca"
Hi, I have a question. Will rice hulls and abaca fibers ignite when dried in a cooking oven? Need to know for my thesis at school. Thanks.

Have you tried Abaca for online banking? Looking for California canna-friendly banking.
I've been using Cafec Traditional filters for a while and i am quite happy with them. Though I am running low and thought maybe i should try a different one this time. I didn't really like the Hario ones. So, i am looking to buy either Abaca or Traditional. Does anyone who tried both can tell me how do they differ? Thanks.
Abaca is a banana Manila hemp, instead of wood, paper. I have read reviews stating that it flows the same as the original Hario V60 filters. I had been wanting to get some for a while but just now decided to order some.
They are cheaper than the original Hario untabbed filters, priced about the same, maybe a $1 more for 100, as the newer tabbed filters. While ordering them I was researching Cafec filters to learn that Cafec just released some speciality filters designed for roast level of coffee and I got the medium one to try also. They come in three versions: light, medium and dark.
The light roast filter is thinner but denser and crepe texture on outside while smooth on the inside. It is designed to trap fines with less surface area on the inside than a crepe texture would have resulting in water flowing slower - no idea why that would be prefered for light roast.
The medium roast filter, which is the one I ordered, is the less dense of the three, has crepe texture on both the inside and out and the crepe texture is taller on it than the crepe on the other two, creating the most surface area on the inside, preventing fines from influencing it as much, promoting faster water flow throughout the brew.
The dark roast filter is between the two, with crepe on inside and out but not as tall as on the medium. Supposedly it has fast flow initially but becomes clogged later, slowing at end of brew. To me that sounds consistent with the untabbed Hario filters.
As with the light roast filter, I have no idea why those qualities would match the respective roast levels. I ordered the Medium since it flows fastest. Cafex seems to be a reputable brand so if its analysis is right, the medium roast filter might flow faster than even the original untabbed filters. Also, the specialty roast level design might explain why the tabbed Hario flow slower - perhaps they do not have as high a crepe texture as the untabbed ones, therefore less surface area. Hoffmann, in his video about Hario filters, noted that the European made Hario filters, which were the worst and slowest flow ones, where not as soft as the Japan tabbed and untabbed filters - by not as soft maybe it was denser without crepe height.
The specialty roast level filters are very new - seems like a June 2020 release. dailycoffeenews . com has a report on them, dated june 23, 2020. Cafec-jp also has an in-depth page on its filters about both the Abaca ones and the specialty roast level ones.
