What I like about Lightning eMotors (ZEV) is that they dominate a niche space that stands to grow very quickly. Rather than focusing on "last-mile” lighter-duty vehicles, which would compete with high volume manufacturers, they use a medium-duty legacy chassis to take advantage of existing β€œupfit ecosystems” that class 3-7 fleet commercial fleets actively depend on. This means easy electrification of ambulances, street cleaners, refrigerator trucks, and lifts as well as universal access to easily sourced spare parts for critical maintenance.

While preserving fleet owners' capital investments, their legacy chassis strategy also gives them a first mover advantage by clearing them of all federal and state safety certifications, thus removing a major time and logistics obstacle. Because the vehicles are designed for long lifespan and they are expensive to modify, fleet operators commonly change out drive trains rather than buy new vehicles. Is there a Zev slides equivalent for m&p shields? Would like to buy a optic cut and ported slide off the rip

Going to get an m&p shield for conceal carry. I want this thing to be top notch. Instead of buying the shield and having cuts retrofit and stuff, I'd rather just buy a slide from an aftermarket, and then a lower for it to go on.

Are there any manufacturers, similar to Zev, who make upgraded slides for the shield?

Anyone have luck getting a Kona EV in a non ZEV state?

I live in Illinois and really like the Kona EV, but as I did more research it seems that Hyundai is only selling them in the 12 zero emission states. I called some local dealers and they can’t even special order it here.

I see some posts online about dealers in ZEV states not being allowed (by Hyundai Corporate) to sell to non-ZEV state residents. The posts were from early 2020 though.

I was wondering if anyone had any luck before I start down that path

Battery deal

Proterra, a maker of electric municipal buses and other large vehicles and a maker of battery systems, will provide battery technology for Lightning eMotors Generation 4 Lightning Electric Transit commercial van.

Lightning eMotors anticipates annual production of up to 3,000 vehicles by 2023. The first Lightning Electric Transit vans are expected to be delivered to customers later this year.

β€œProterra’s batteries are premium technology for premium vehicles,” said Tim Reeser, CEO of Lightning eMotors. β€œWe’ve delivered more zero-emission medium-duty commercial EVs than any other manufacturer in North America, and Proterra’s batteries will allow us to give our customers even more range, power, and features on our purpose-built vehicles at the price they need to scale up their electric fleets.”

Gareth Joyce, president of Proterra Powered & Energy, added, β€œTogether, we’re showcasing how American electric vehicle manufacturers are accelerating the shift to a clean transportation future.”

Both companies were founded in Colorado, though Proterra has since moved its headquarters to Burlingame, California, in the northern reaches of Silicon Valley.
