A list of puns related to "Xenoestrogen"
Whatβs up MPMD fam! Endocrine not end or time π
I have been doing a lot of research into PFAS and other endocrine disrupters.
I am curious how many of you are concerned about these being in your blood? I live by a superfund site and grew up drinking contaminated water.
I am wondering how many of you would be interested in reducing the levels of these in your blood???
I have found a few interesting papers in Cholestyramine and fiber. It is possible to test, but not super easy to test for.
I was thinking about trying to petition some labs to at least do a research grade version.
I run a small mass spec laboratory, but we donβt really have the bandwidth to do consumer testing right now.
Saw a graph showing that testosterone levels in males have been steadily decreasing since the 80βs. Apparently some studies link this to ever-present xenoestrogens (chemicals mimicking the structure of estrogen that link to e2 receptors) that can be found in micro plastics, fragrances, and nearly all processed foods of any kind. If this is true, how can we begin avoiding this shit if itβs quite literally everywhere? Anyone have any data on the largest sources of estrogen-mimicking compounds? Hoping to spark some interesting discussion about this.
Liver detoxification is becoming a common health practice for many good reasons. Both Dr. Lisa and Dr. Meghan recommend periodic cleanses as a way to reduce oxidative stress and inflammation, balance hormones, and improve metabolism. The increased exposure to environmental chemicals in the air and our food are responsible for the buildup of chemicals in the bodyβs tissues. This will then increase oxidative stress, free radical formation, and cellular degeneration.
The reason these chemicals are so easily incorporated and are damaging to the body is their estrogen-like composition called xenoestrogens. Xenos means foreign, and these foreign estrogens come from other sources not made within our body. Synthetic compounds and plant products present in the environment have been found to have estrogenic activity, mimicking hormonal functions involving estrogen metabolism.
Xenoestrogens are diverse in structure and mode of action. They bind to estrogen receptors with sometimes the same or greater affinity as endogenous (body made) estrogen itself. When xenoestrogens act on the body, they can disrupt regular hormonal action without binding to estrogen receptors. This can result in cell injury, errors in DNA replication, and conditions that derive from estrogen dominance.
Avoiding exposure to xenoestrogens can play a huge role in improving your health. Some of the best ways to do this are:
Since we do not live in a bubble and we may not be able to do the above strategies 100 percent of the time, we can encourage the liver to detoxify hormones more efficiently by incorporating periodic cleanses. It is important to choose a cleanse that is designed to improve the three phases of liver detoxification. When the liver is able to detoxify
... keep reading on reddit β‘I read an article about how estrogen cream caused gender dysphoria (linked below), and Iβm really curious if this effect could occur, to a lesser degree, from environmental exposures to chemicals (ie the ones known to bind to estrogen receptors in the body). My intent is not to make assumptions about anyoneβs situation, Iβm genuinely curious to know if this is scientifically possible.

As said above.
Hey all, I wanted to share something with the community because I just found out about this and I thought this is something that I was never aware of! So hopefully this reaches any of you that were unaware of this like me. I recently read about xenoestrogens and what they do to us, this effects us as people with PCOS because our endocrine system is already taking a hit with all our hormone imbalances. Addressing this issue could relieve some symptoms / help our battle with PCOS. Xenoestrogens are a class of chemicals found in all types of plastic ( food containers/ beauty products/ cleaning products/ hair dye/ food packages, etc) that can effect the balance of our endocrine system, they interfere with our ability to excrete estrogen by mimicking our natural estrogen in the body and throwing our hormonal system out of wack. I know that getting rid of plastic from everything is not realistic but I think restricting it and being aware of what we eat from, and what products we use can help! Some changes that I made recently was avoiding non stick pans, eating and storing food in glass or metal containers, avoiding heating anything in a plastic container in the microwave, using a metal water bottle. I am still actively working on this but I just wanted to share this information to anybody who needs it!
I am not a scientist, just a curious and concerned woman with a question about xenoestrogens. I've been hearing about them a lot in nutrition blogs. Apparently there are loads of synthetic chemicals in the environment that after getting unintentionally ingested they mimic estrogen in the human body and disrupt our natural hormone balance. But isn't it odd that there are so many different chemicals mimicking one hormone? Why aren't there some chemicals that are shaped like testosterone or human growth hormone? It just seems odd to me. If anyone can explain this to me I'd love it!
Hey everyone!
I recently found out that I have a sensitivity to xenoestrogens which happen to be in a ton of cosmetics and beauty products.
Does anyone have suggestions on where I could buy products that don't contain xenoestrogens or even recipes for making things at home such as mascara, blush, eye shadow etc.?
Thanks for your help!!
I know that often when women are on hormone therapies, the body releases the hormones taken in urine and feces, which are taken away with waste water. These often enter the environment when the purification process applied to waste water fails to remove them, and they enter aquatic environments. These can cause problems, such as messing with fish's reproductive cycles and systems, and feminization of male fish. These are called xenoestrogens.
My question is, does taking estradiol over other synthetic estrogens reduce the environmental impact? Do cisgendered women's bodies release significant amounts of estrogens to have an impact when not on hormone therapies? Would a trans woman's release of xenoestrogens be similar if she were on estradiol?
