What’s weird is I was speculating on Regal this morning. Jim Smallman, ex of PROGRESS, then NXT UK is now “NXT Creative Director”. Not sure how long that’s been the case or how long NXT have needed a creative director.
Regal will be sorely missed. The writing was on the wall when he was absent from the War Games build. Time will tell if he simply retires, or takes his brain elsewhere. Anywhere would be lucky to have him, seemingly.

Sorry to hear the news guys. Just saw the twitter posts and #JusticeForRegal hashtag. Was Regal murdered, I don't know the full story yet.
Years ago I was at a NXT house show in Aberdeen, Scotland (a city whose residents are the bearers of a running joke in Scotland, accusing them of preferring the company of sheep) and William Regal (the on screen authority figure by this point) comes out during the show.
We all cheered him and he said what an honour it is to be an Englishman getting cheered in Scotland, and that the last time he was wrestling in Aberdeen, we booed him.
And with a knowing wink, he then asked “so how are you, you bunch of sheep shaggers??!!”
Even the arena crew were laughing.

These two would be the necessary people to help improve Njpw strong and make it more watchable for viewers who feel like strong lacks directions. With the talent on strong and the lack of stories is a big issue. And with someone like Samoa Joe and William regal who both are great minds and not a lot about wrestling they can help improve the promotion. Strong needs better production and direction if they want to have a better footing in the US.
