A list of puns related to "Waterless coolant"
Or is Evans coolant only used for high end engines?
Hi Guys,
This morning the idiot light for my oil temperature came on. Whilst it's been quite warm today (somewhere between 20-25 degrees celsius) and I was in a bit of stop-start traffic I'm not sure this bodes well for trips abroad where I might be riding in 30 degrees+. Because the cooling system on my '02 F650GS is apparently pretty under-powered I was debating getting Evans Waterless Coolant (or something similar), any of you guys had experience with it? Anything else that might be causing my cooling issues? The coolant is around the minimum level I believe, but this should be ok?
I refreshed the whole cooling system but I'm still bit paranoid after the coolant incident. I read that going to waterless coolant might help extend the life of the system since it has no water pressure, but it has a lower specific heat so the system will run a bit hotter. Should I stay with 50/50 or give waterless coolant a try?
So last ride, I could smell my 2011 250SX-F overheating because I could smell the anti-freeze. Never really noticed any smoke but I could 100% smell the antifreeze burning. This was in the sand dunes where it was a lot of open second - fourth riding but also some tough hills. I was out riding some technical trails today, there was a bit of first gear low speed chugging along. My bike started overheating again, but this time there was quite a bit of smoke coming out of the radiator/engine area.
We we're getting close to the end of our day, so I let the bike rest a bit then booted back to the truck. I checked my anti-freeze when it was cold and I could see it at the top of the radiator, so it wasn't low it was just boiling. I had problems with a Honda overheating, but I threw engine ice in it and it never did it again. I was going to throw it in my bike, but my buddy gave me a jug of Evans that he was using in his RZR.
My questions are, what's the best way to drain the system? Pull the hose off the water pump and kick the bike over a few times to force the coolant out? Also, has anyone ever run the Evans in their bike? Did you notice a decent improvement in cooling ability? The only thing that worries me about Evans is that it doesn't boil so I won't know when my bike is running hot.

Now I might add, that I would not use this in my daily driver sedan. I'd think that it would be total overkill aside from never having to change the coolant. But I am considering using it in my diesel truck, which I do use to tow heavy loads. I plan on towing cross country in a few months with it and going through mountain passes. So high boiling temperatures sounds very appealing to me at 375 degrees vs around 260 degrees for standard coolant.
From what I've read up on this coolant, that after completely flushing your coolant and replacing it with this stuff, you will never have to change your coolant again. Basically this stuff is the non-water bit of what's in 50/50 coolant mixtures. propylene glycol?
It never corrodes metals because it has no water in it and it's easier on your cooling system because it requires only about 4psi of pressure vs higher psi in other cooling systems. My truck tops out at 16psi for coolant to raise the boiling point on the water. So I would be less prone to coolant and hose leaks.
This stuff apparently boils at 375 degrees. That seems huge to me, especially on having the 6.0 liter powerstroke where coolant is the biggest killer of oil and egr coolers. Coolant degrades and clogs the oil cooler, which causes the egr to heat up, steam, and can rupture and leak coolant in to the head gaskets, can cause the steam pressures to be 4x the pressures on the cylinders, stretching head bolts and causing them to fail. I'd love to avoid that on my beloved truck with 145k miles. I've meticulously taken care of it, but one less thing to worry about such as the coolant would be nice.
I know they use this stuff in big rig trucking and in racecars, race bikes etc. but other then that I haven't heard of many people using it in normal trucks much. at 43 bucks a gallon, it's pricy, and would cost me about 280 bucks to do a coolant change on mine, but then I'd never have to change the coolant again. What are your thoughts on this stuff?
Sorry, I'm not trying to sell snake oil or anything. From what I've read, including the Amazon reviews, there are nothing but good things to be said about it. But I'm just curious if anyone themselves have actually used it before.
Had an idea bouncing around in my head for a while about a completely submerged build with a remote radiator. I know there are cases that have the motherboard ports facing up, so I'm wondering if you could successfully weld together a custom case to support this idea of a build styled like an automotive cooling system. Not going to actually do this, but I just want to know what people think of this insanity.

It's expensive, but the point is that your cooling system won't corrode and you never have to replace it (at least according to Evans).
At this point i'm literally searching for any kind of horror story or mild inconvenience caused by waterless coolant but i just cant find any, all the negatives about it are 100% speculative.
So.....has ANYONE had a problem with using it? especially on e46/e39 models
I have an 88 Bronco 5.0 and I want to do a fluid change before the weather in my area gets any hotter. I bought Prestoneยฎ All Vehicles Antifreeze + Coolant Concentrate but now Iโm wondering if I should use the 50-50 mix over the concentrate?
Any advice Is appreciated!

Go post NSFW jokes somewhere else. If I can't tell my kids this joke, then it is not a DAD JOKE.
If you feel it's appropriate to share NSFW jokes with your kids, that's on you. But a real, true dad joke should work for anyone's kid.
Mods... If you exist... Please, stop this madness. Rule #6 should simply not allow NSFW or (wtf) NSFL tags. Also, remember that MINORS browse this subreddit too? Why put that in rule #6, then allow NSFW???
Please consider changing rule #6. I love this sub, but the recent influx of NSFW tagged posts that get all the upvotes, just seem wrong when there are good solid DAD jokes being overlooked because of them.
Thank you,
A Dad.

Keep in mind, my son is 4 years old, so everything is an original to him.
I had to work late into the evening yesterday, and he was just going to bed when I got home. I had left home for the office nearly 14 hours prior, had a long day, lots of meetings, traffic, etc.
When I walked through the door, I was exhausted, run down, and starving. My wife hugged me and asked how my day was, and I replied, "Done. It was a good day, but has got me exhausted. I just want to grab a bite and go to bed. I'm hungry."
From my son's bedroom, I hear him shout, "Hi Hungry! Nice to meet you!"
Not only did it make me laugh, but I completely forgot about how hungry and tired I was. I went to his bedroom, and we laughed together about it. It was exactly what I needed.
Edit: Thanks for all the awards, kind strangers! I'll let my son know y'all enjoyed his joke too!

Has anyone here tried using evans waterless coolant in their liquid cooled PC? I am currently waiting for the rest of my build's parts and I am considering trying the stuff out.
