A list of puns related to "Veena Sud"
The Lie - 2018 film, directed by Veena Sud, for Blumhouse. It stars Mireille Enos, Peter Sarsgaard and Joey King.
I canβt find a complete summary of this seemingly buried Blumhouse film, or any reviews that spoil what happens with the twist ending. The film doesnβt seem to be streaming anywhere and as a fan of Veena Sudβs show The Killing I was curious to find out what went wrong and what plot twist the reviewers were angry about. Some called it a slap in the face...so I gots to know.
Guessing that Joey King and her friend are in on βThe Lieβ together to take out / frame the parents? Hoping Reddit can help.
More plot info - βBased on the German film Wir Monster (We Monsters), The Lie follows Jay (Peter Sarsgaard), a father who makes a ruthless decision to protect his only child. While traveling to a ballet retreat, Jay's 15-year-old daughter Kayla (Joey King) pushes her friend Brittany (Devery Jacobs) over the side of a tall bridge. Fearing she might be dead, Jay decides to lie about the incident, returning home with Joey and roping his ex-wife Rebecca (Mireille Enos) into their deception. But one lie spawns many more when Brittany's desperate dad (Cas Anvar) and the police start asking questions.β
Thanks in advance!
So the event is an all-day Festival of Awesome TV Writers we're calling THE SERIES OF TUBES: SERIAL STORYTELLING IN AN EXPANDING WORLD. Here's more information on it. It's hosted by The Writers Guild Foundation. Which is us.
We do these every year and they're always a big hit. It's four panels of conversations with writers and producers chatting about the craft and the industry. It's not a cheesy "how to write a winning script!" event; it's more of an exploration of how these amazing writers do their work, and how newer writers can navigate a changing landscape. It's great for writers and fans alike.
There'll also be a trivia contest with copies of Final Draft as prizes. Other prizes too, but I mean come on, it's a free copy of Final Draft. Oh, and we'll have food trucks too. Because Los Angeles.
IF YOU WANT TO WIN A FREE TICKET, send me an email with REDDIT TV STUFF in the subject line. Send it by 5:00 pm on JULY 1 and I'll get back to you by THURSDAY, JULY 3 to let you know if you won.
(Please do me a favor and only enter the contest if you think there's a decent chance you'll be able to attend.)
Oh yeah - my email address is kott@wga.org. My name is Kevin, and I'm the communications director for the WGF. You can also email me with questions if you have any. Or, you know, just to talk.
BUT! BUT! WAIT! Let's say you don't want to leave your chances of attending to the caprice of a blind idiot god. If that's the case, you can get ten bucks off the price of your ticket with the coupon code ALL-GLORY-TO-THE-WGF.
Thanks guys. And good luck on your scripts.
While it's sad seeing Melissa Rosenberg's departure, it's no doubt she delivered the best solo MCU Netflix debut miles and then we have season 2 which sounds exciting since it teases more onto Jessica's story but the main character got sidelined and other subplots like Trish, Malcolm and Hogarth became the focus; other than that, the show would've benefit some references from other shows and Marvel Netflix universe without overshadowing Jessica (see Luke Cage season 2), and to be honest, if I were to make changes for season 2, maybe have Hogarth and Foggy more involved on Jessica's investigation on IGH, put Trish, Malcolm and Pryce on the sideline - more detective work, even replace Trish with Karen Page doing detective work.
Now that I mentioned detective narrative, that's where Veena Sud thrives as a showrunner, her work on The Killing is an excellent example on how you can make a compelling detective story and character-driven dramas that do not veer away from the main conflict, and not to mention, she's got an eye for gloomy, noir aesthetic that would be perfect for the show, and Sud is not only a great showrunner but a writer who delivers compelling characters that are put into good use like Jeri Hogarth.
The funeral director was asking us what we think Mum should wear in her casket.
Mum always loved to wear sarongs (fabric wraps that go around the torso and drape downward a bit like a long skirt would), so my uncle suggested that she wear a sarong in there.
The funeral director looked a bit confused, as did some of our family members, to which my uncle added:
"What's sarong with that?"
I started laughing like an idiot. He was proud of it too. The funeral director was rather shocked. We assured her, and our more proper relatives, that Mum would've absolutely loved the joke (which is very true).
His delivery was perfect. I'll never forget the risk he took. We sometimes recall the moment as a way help cushion the blows of the grieving process.
--Edit-- I appreciate the condolences. I'm doing well and the worst is behind me and my family. But thanks :)
--Edit-- Massive thanks for all the awards and kind words. And the puns! Love 'em.
I would have a daughter
But Bill kept the Windows
True story; it even happened last night. My 5-year-old son walks up behind me and out of the blue says, "hey."
I turn to him and say, "yeah, kiddo? What's up?"
He responds, "it's dead grass."
I'm really confused and trying to figure out what's wrong and what he wants from me. "What? There's dead grass? What's wrong with that?"
.
.
.
He says, totally straight-faced, "hay is dead grass," and runs off.
You officially hit rock bottom
No it doesn't.
And then you will all be sorry.
Now itβs syncing.
He replied, "Well, stop going to those places then!"
I will find you. You have my Word.
She said how do you know he was headed to work?
βthank you for your cervix.β
...sails are going through the roof.
Made me smile
