A list of puns related to "Ureteric stent"
Just had my first Ureteroscopy done today. I had 3 back to back stones stuck in my left ureter near the bladder.
Procedure wasnβt bad at all...... but this stent :( you all werenβt kidding how terrible it can be. Each time I need to urinate, I feel like Iβve been punched in the kidney.... there is a lot of blood, burning, and blood clots (the doc told me this is expected). It takes a good 30-40minutes for the pain to subside (pain is solely located around my left kidney). The pain only happens when I need to urinate...
For those of you... who have had a stent.... does all of this sound normal? Especially the pain when urinating?
I just had a ureteric stent put in on Wednesday after having a 6mm stone removed from my right ureter. My kidney began rupturing because of the blockage from the stone. Healing is going fine, except peeing is excruciating, like I have to sit down to pee kind of excruciating. THis especially sucks because apparently peeing is my new hobby since I'm going every hour. I was just wondering if this much pain is normal. I can't really tell if the pain is from the stent or just a side effect of my kidney rupturing and healing.
I've got a 13 mm stone that had created an obstruction and infection got started. I went to the ER and had a CT scan. My urologist placed a stent to allow the kidney to drain and I'm on antibiotics to get rid of the infection. He couldn't remove the stone right then because of the infection so I'm stuck with this stent and it's driving me insane.
I'm taking Oxybutynin, Phenazopyridine and ibuprofen but it's not helping the urge to urinate. I'm drinking more water and I don't have much pain at all just this urge to pee.
I've still got over a week before shockwave lithotripsy and then I may still have the stent for a bit and I feel like it's going to make bonkers.
Anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance!
Hi guys, I hope you're all well.
Yesterday I had a stent put in with a waiting time for stone removal on the NHS at 12-18 months. This is my first full day with the stent in, the pain has come down a lot but I am bleeding quite a bit of bright red blood and everywhere I read or try to find information on only really mentions dark red blood as being normal. Should I be worried about the colour of the blood being so much brighter or 'fresher'?
I did have an infection which was cleared up in my week in hospital whilst I had a percutaneous nephrostomy (a tube in my kidney connected to a bad to relieve the pressure off my kidney)
Is it possible I have the infection back after having the tube taken out and a stent put in? Or is usual for bright red blood just after my stent?
Please help and comment! Thanks
Threaten the motherfuckers with legal action and a cease and desist order. Because I called the surgery scheduler and she told me that I was approved for 5 visits for the procedure and gave me an authorization number and everything.
I had my kidney transplant from my dad last Tuesday, has anyone had any pain or discomfort that was caused by the stent?
I finally got the Foley catheter out on Thursday and sometimes after urinating I'll get an intense pain in my groin area that goes away almost immediately when I sit or lay down.
There's no blood or clots in my urine, everything has been yellow to golden colored and there's no burning sensation during urination, just shorty afterwards a sharp sudden pain in the groin.
Between the sutures, cut stomach muscles and everything else going on with my body it's hard to pinpoint exactly where the pain is coming from but it seems like this may be from the stent, but who knows.
The new kidney is making a lot of urine, I do have some swelling and am on lasix. Yesterday I drank 2245 ml and voided 3360 ml. Creatinine has been trending down and was at 2.17 Thursday.
Hey yβall! So Iβm (23F) 23 weeks pregnant and had a stent placed 8 days ago to solve my hydronephrosis and βstonesβ (urine strained in hospital for 8 days and nothing passed and none shown on CT scan or ultrasound). Did anyone with a stent experience pain beyond discomfort in their lower groin region? Like anywhere laterally between the tops of your hip bones? So painful that I canβt push/strain for a BM, sit down, or lay down comfortably. Definitely canβt walk more than 100 feet comfortably. It still BURNS like a MF when I urinate but the blood volume has definitely gone down.
Never had a stent or kidney problems previously, so I have no idea whatβs βnormal.β Just looking for some idea of what type of/ amount of pain I should be in.
Kidney stones are prevalent, and treating them is done with the use of ureteral stents. Any type of surgery does not remove the kidney stones; they are removed with the help of putting stents inside the urethra.
A ureteral stent is a transparent plastic tube used to carry urine from the kidney to the bladder. The stents can be used in the treatment of kidney stones and various other operations. A stent is used during any urine frequency, urgency or when the urine is not disposed of by itself. As the process is quite sensitive, it is important to have high quality stents from trustworthy ureteral stent suppliers.
The stents have their disadvantages like after having the stents; there can be back pain, urine frequency, blood in urine and others. It is essential to choose a manufacturer who will provide you with high-quality medical equipment for these intricate processes. It is mandatory to have high-quality stents to minimise the risk of any infections. You can experience few things after having a ureteral stent:
How can I treat the symptoms?
When should you contact a doctor?
Depending upon the type of ureter, you can either remove it by yourself or with the help of a doctor or nurse. The ureter is removed usually after two weeks, but the period can be expanded in some cases. Make sure before the stent is terminated, you drink plenty of water and have medications if prescribed by your doctor. Most patients do not face any symptoms after removing the stent, but some may experience contradictions and pain. Manishmedi is a ureteral stent manufacturer providing high-quality medical equipment. Hello, i've had a stent in place since the 11th of august and will remove it the 8th of september, the doctor said i will be under general anesthesia since pain killers don't work well for me and they said i wouldn't let them work properly for the removal, Γ¬s this a normal procedure for it?
I've found posts of other people's personal experiences helpful. I hope my own experience will be helpful to others...
I had a 6mm stone stuck in narrowing of my left ureter (3rd stone in my lifetime so symptoms were familiar). Other than the initial onset pain (6/10) which lasted a few hours, I was pretty much symptom free. My urologist suggested the stone was irregularly shaped allowing urine to pass by it (thus the minimal symptoms). After 1 month of no movement, he suggested laser Lithotripsy with ureteral stent placement.
The extra precautions due to COVID made the lead up to the procedure more complex (i.e. obtaining labs, get COVID test, etc.), but the procedure itself was straight forward. I checked in at the hospital (outpatient surgery), gowned up, they started an IV and wheeled me into the surgery room. The anesthesiologist put me under. I woke up and was informed all was done.
Urologist told me they found the stone, zapped it, and were able to remove the remnants via the basket. They placed a ureteral stent (with the string) and told me it I could remove it after 3 days.
I felt the urgency to urinate and was βpissing razor bladesβ for the first few hours after the procedure. Iβm given to understand that this is common due to irritation from the cystoscope. On advice from these forums, I took AZO. Wow! AZO is a godsend! The pain and urgency subsided significantly. I had some blood seepage, clots and the AZO stains my urine orange. Pragmatism won over pride and I got a box of depends to wear until the stent is out so I didnβt have to worry about staining my clothes.
Iβve been very lucky in that I havenβt needed any pain meds beyond Advil so far. I do experience some of the classic side effects of the stent (i.e. flank and back pain when urinating, feeling I canβt fully empty bladder, cramping, etc.). My pain level hasnβt gone above 4/10 so far. The cramping feel like the intestinal discomfort you get from constipation.
The biggest issue Iβve had so far was how they taped the stent removal string to my penis. The string came out of my urethra, was routed along the top of the glans, and taped to the shaft with almost no slack. Certain movements tugged the string and felt like it was cutting into my urethra. I finally had enough and removed the take (allowing the string to hang free). Iβm very careful around it when washing, and when I lower pants to use restroom (so as to not tug on it).
Iβm supposed to remove the stent tomorrow. I ha
... keep reading on reddit β‘What a ride it has been! This has been an issue for..2 months now for me. I had left side pain for a week or two that THANKFULLY went away!
I went into surgery today, and am now in the stent club. I was given Hydrocodone/acetaminophen and Senna after discharge today. It felt terrible peeing before I took that pain medication and now it feels like a typical UTI episode.
Doctor said this stent would be in place for two weeks possibly, and I go back then. I am increasing water in take as we speak, but am sneaking in some diet soda and flavored water.
Also, surprise surprise.... My first stone ever.... I usually pass my UTIs just fine!
This all started with advocating for myself.
My PCP ordered an ultrasound, my kidney specialist ordered a CT scan, and then he felt he needed to refer me to urology.
A two month ride, and am glad to hopefully get some answers and this stone issue resolved!!!
I'm a 24 year old male who weighs 78 kgs. I'm in good health, besides this UPJ obstruction thing that has really messed with the last year of my life (maybe two years since I had syptoms for a while before I actually found out what was wrong with me).
So I've had a temporary stent placed in while I wait to get pyeloplasty surgery. This wait has become ridiculous and I'm getting more and more fed up with the public hospital system where I live in Australia.
I was originally told at the urology clinic that the stent could only stay in for a few months, and that I would get this surgery afterwards. At my next checkup (three months later), they said that there wasn't as much improvement in my kidneys as they hoped and they decided to leave it in for another three months to see how it would do. At the next checkup, they told me I definitely needed my stent to be replaced in the next couple weeks, and I finally got the documentation sent to me, to put myself on the waiting list for the surgery. Two weeks later, I got a call saying things have been delayed because of COVID, and now I have had to wait another three months until my next checkup (not until the end of June).
Everything I have seen online (as well as what the doctors said back in August when I first got the stent), implies that if stents are left in over three or four months, serious health issues can arise. I've been constantly getting told conflicting information from doctors. I get socially anxious and struggle with confrontation, so I think the doctors probably pick up on this. They have been able to kind of gaslight me into questioning what I've been told, and being uncertain about what's happening. Every time I get off the phone with someone from the hospital, I just end up feeling frustrated with even less clarification about what to do.
I know the general consensus here seems to be to just ask your doctor, but what do you do when you have hit a brick wall and are unable to get answers on anything? I'm usually relaxed and probably let people walk over me a bit, but when it's my actual health being impacted, I start to feel pretty pissed off about everything.
I would like to know what the general situation is with ureteric stents. Maybe I'm over exaggerating how bad it is, and the doctor's constant pushbacks are fine, or maybe my worries are justified. I really don't know how I should be feeling.
Hello everyone. I (23F, Canadian) have a history of calcium oxalate stones and recently had ureteroscopy/lithotripsy on a 6mm stone (first surgery ever). I had some mild pain with the stent in, but I had the stent removed on Friday and have had the WORST 10/10 pain come and go since. It started about 20 minutes after the stent was removed, and it lasts for 2-3 hours then goes away. I went about 24 hours without another round but the pain came back with a VENGEANCE and Iβm currently lying on a bed in emerg awaiting an ultrasound. My urologist/surgeon told me and Iβve read most people experience βmild cramping and flank painβ but this was borderline worse than the worst stone pain Iβve ever had. In retrospect, I almost wish I wouldβve passed on the surgery (pun intended) and took my chances with passing it myself.
Has anyone else experienced this kind of pain after having a stent removed? Just looking for someone to share my pain with LOL.
I have had bilateral stents for 6 days now following a uteroscopy (no lithotripsy) and in addition to urinating blood each time, I am also urinating small bits of what appears to be bodily tissue each time.
Is this normal?
So i had ureteroscopy around 3 weeks ago and have ureteral stent since then. My only problem is that it pains like hell whenever I walk for more than 10minutes and then there is usually blood in urine after that. It usually takes me half a day to recover after grocery shoping. Is it usual? When I sit/lay down I dont have any problems. Should I go see urologist?
I have ureteral stent removal in around a month but pain is so big that I cant do any work and I cant really not work for another month.
Hi! I'm 21 and have a left ureteral stent. I've had it for a few months now, and am going to have to have it removed. It's not the kind with the string. I'm absolutely terrified of having a doctor touch me "down there." When a doctor tried to put a catheter in me once, I had such a bad panic attack that they had to stop.
Has anyone here had this kind of stent removed before? What was it like? I'm considering begging them to knock me out for it.
A few weeks ago I was having a discussion with one of my transplant attendings. During our conversation he mentioned how a former colleague of his used to use a pediatric feeding tube as a stent during transplant. He said that the feeding tube would be removed at bedside a few days later (and if I recall correctly) he said I did not require a cystoscopy to remove it.
I am only familiar with using double j stents and I am having a hard time imagining how the feeding tube works. I couldn't find anything on google and I had planned on asking the attending about it but he's been out of the country since then.
Could some one explain this technique for me? How does it stay in place? If it doesn't require a cystoscopy for removal, does it have an end externally (I didn't get the impression that it was like a suprapubic catheter)? If it does, how does that work (logistically) with a Foley catheter also in place? Why is this technique not as commonly used? Are there complications directly associated with this technique that aren't associated with double js?
Not really kidney stone related, but I had a stent put in about 2 weeks ago after I had a pyeloplasty. Doctor said I may have some discomfort from the stent. I had no discomfort until about 2 days ago, since I have had a constant discomfort in my flank. It's a manageable discomfort, but I just find it odd that it started randomly almost 2 weeks after my surgery.
Is this a normal side effect, or should I give my surgeon a call?
Long story short, 3 stones, first procedure got 2 of them, couldn't get the third. Doctor decides to put a stent while we get ready for an unexpected second surgery (which is costing me my job btw, since I expected to be back much earlier and without restrictions regarding heavy labor).
About a week and a half in and am fairly miserable especially while sleeping. Being vigilant with ibuprofen/acetaminophen/oxybutynin helps for most of the day, but all of that falls apart when I finally lay down to sleep. Would very much appreciate any tips on how to deal with this as I'm losing more sleep/sanity than usual.
Second issue is exercise. I'm fat as fuck, and try to help deal with that issue by going swing dancing twice a week. So far I've found doing anything physically demanding both exhausts me more than usual or makes my entire lower half seize up with this wonderful pressure that has me waddling back to my recliner in a crying mess. Would very much like to know if this is temporary and if not how to deal with it so I can maintain some sort of physical lifestyle.
Any feedback appreciated, I hope this is the best place to go to ask this. Thanks in advanced.
I had botox injections into the bladder for overactive bladder. If you try to bill my insurance the wrong thing again, you motherfuckers, I will get with a lawyer to send a cease and desist order. Also a health insurance agent told me itβs YOUR fucking fault that someone at your hospital didnβt get pre-certification. The surgery scheduler where I had it done told me I was approved by my insurance to have the procedure for 5 visits this year. Do NOT fuck with me.
