"I can explain the "ZZ". I was born and raised in Jersey City and grew up on Oakland, Baldwin, and St. Paul's Ave close to PS #6. My Grandfather knew Louis "Red" Deutsch (and said he was a scumbag) back when he owned a fruit and vegetable stand on Journal Square before he bought the Tube Bar on the concourse next to 3 Guys Pizza. Red was originally from The Bronx and in his youth he was a professional boxer and muscle for the mob. If a guy was past due with a bookie or a loan shark , as a warning , a guy like Red or Red himself would disfigure the guy's face with a pocket knife, box cutter, or straight razor as a warning depending on how much you owed and how far behind on the payments you were. It was called "gettin' the business' or the "ZZ treatment". It's simple, if you owed money a couple of goons (probably 6"3' and 250 lbs. of muscle) would go to collect. One guy would hold you down or pin you against the wall while the other guy would work you over. The "ZZ' would be inflicted on guys that owed a lot of money and were in serious default. The "ZZ" was what the huge scar left on the guys face after being disfigured by the goons. Red was the real deal and if he ever found out who was pranking him would have actually hurt the guys. They were lucky because I'm sure he tried hard to find out who the callers were. Every body at that bar knew about the calls and loved seeing Red getting his balls busted. He was not well liked from what I recall. My father knew one of the bartenders that worked for him and Red was not considered a good guy.ο»Ώ"

Yesterday when my brother was travelling from Uni he got off at Ruislip Manor Station and walked out the barriers to be immediately confronted by 3 18ish year olds. While still in the station in full view of the ticket office and cameras they asked him to get out his phone, he asked why and they said they would stab him if he didn't (though they didn't have a knife visible) so he we t to comply and they grabbed his arm and snatched it from him. Then they looked at it, said 'it's android, you've been pranked!' Then gave it back and left? He has an S21 which isn't a cheap phone so I don't really understand what happened here, has anyone ever experienced or heard of anything like this?
My brother is autistic so he doesn't know how to cope with this very well, if it was indeed a prank then it's a damn stupid AF one, and if it was an actual mugging are muggers getting picky about apple vs android now?
He wants to forget about it but I think we should report it, though that said my own experiences with the police as a victim of crimes has always been pretty poor, they never caught the guy who mugged me, the person who burgled my house, the guy that hit me off my bike and the charges the guy who threatened to kill me got were so light he just used his friends to threaten me and I just stopped going to the place where he and his group were even though it meant stopping hanging out with some of my friends. In this case I feel like anything they get charged with is gonna be like getting told off by mum to them and they'll keep behaving like idiots/picky muggers.
Any thoughts or suggestions about what to do?
Anyone else's ICU receiving near daily 'prank' phone calls? Last night, one kind gentleman called at 2am to let our charge nurse know that we're "all murderers who don't give a shit about the patients" and that we "should all fucking die and rot in hell for the crimes you're (we're) commiting". Also commented on how we're "walking around smugly, wearing masks to hide your (our) overly made-up faces". Sigh.
Edit: Well, apparently, this sentiment isn't so uncommon...just came across this post while scrolling Reddit to unwind after work. I'm honestly becoming slightly frightened for myself and fellow healthcare workers.

Edit #2: I can't believe the responses this post got. thanks so much for the advice (and laughs!)...this subreddit is the best! On a serious note, I'm going to ask our charge if she's reported this nonsense to admin yet, but to be fair, I know admin isn't going to bother helping us out with this.

Sheβs visiting her hometown right now, and I got a call along with that text this morning from this random mf on her phone and he just hung up after a few seconds, and then I got a call from her and she basically just hung up after a few seconds and then texted me a few minutes βLmfaoooo we were just fucking aroundβ
Eventually she called me like 20 minutes later and Iβm like bruh. She told me she was with a group of friends and she was talking about us and decided to play a joke on me.
What do I do? Do I just break up with her? The thing is I could honestly see her doing something stupid like that to fuck with me, so if it really was just a joke I donβt want to breakup but likeβ¦ fuck I look like staying with a girl after some dude literally calls me from her phone and says Iβm getting played?

She was cheating. Not only was she cheating, she never broke up with her ex. She moved away from her hometown but they stayed together, and she was visiting home. She was with him, and he was looking through her phone and saw me and started questioning her and took her phone to call me, but she took it back and hung up.
This dude called me off her phone again while she wasnβt around and we had a discussion. She was dating both of us I guessβ¦ just so weird because she seemed obsessed with meβ¦ she would talk about me to literally everybody and I had met her whole family after like a month being togetherβ¦

We had a client that complained about our app freezing. We were calling their slow API, and the app was clearly just waiting for results, which sometimes would take half a minute. Even after explaining all that, we still kept getting complaints about freezing.
I added a progress bar that started at 5% went +10% every second till 65%, then +10% every 4 seconds till 95%, and then finally it just waits if we still haven't gotten results (each delay has a cancellation token, so it zooms to the end once a result is found). Complaints disappeared, clients were happy, product manager was happy.
It makes me laugh, thought it might makes someone else laugh too. Feel free to copy my dodgy algorithm if you find yourself in the same boat as me, I honestly forget the thing is fake whenever I see it.
