It’s a beautiful, slow song in drop d with a descending melody. I think the melody is D C# B B B A F# A. Rythme isn’t too important—you’d recognize it if you knew it just from hearing the notes in order.
Please help! I play the song but never took the time to perfect it. Now I can’t remember what it’s called…
Bought the tickets ($200 per ticket) in January, but had to cancel my trip. Forgot to list them on StubHub. Apparently I only know two people in Nashville, and they can't go. This started as a response to a thread yesterday where someone asked about a Mark Knopfler fingerstyle song and I ended up posting some extensive responses to introduce them to the wondrous world of fingerstyle guitar as represented by Chet Atkins, Don Ross, Nick Drake, Tommy Emmanuel, etc.
Below I'll copy and paste in my original comments, which include copious links to a handful of my favourite songs for each player PLUS YouTube mixes/playlists, along with links for an amazing FREE guitar TAB site dedicated to posting high quality transcriptions of Chet Atkins, Tommy Emmanuel and Nick Drake songs.
(Honestly I have no idea who made the tab site, but there are dozens and dozens of exceptional-quality TABs for these three players which are downloadable as .PDFs and are vastly more accurate than the vast majority of TABs I've seen online generally).
I've also included video links for Don Ross (the best Canadian fingerstyle guitarist and a legend in terms of paving the way for other players), and included jpeg imgur links for the handwritten TAB transcription I made for Chet Atkin's solo in the live video version of the song 'Jerry's Breakdown' that he did with Jerry Reed. I spent hours transcribing it at 50% speed a few years ago so it should be accurate. It's got sweep picking and is full of mindblowing Chet-icisms in terms of licks, and I haven't seen anyone else on the internet transcribe it. So I figured r/ guitar might dig it.

Chet, Merle and Mark Knopfler are great people to listen to. I'm a big Chet Atkins fan and very into his style of picking (which was hugely influenced by Merle Travis of course). Chet also did an album with Mark Knopfler which is great. And there are some awesome live videos of Chet and Mark together.
On that note, I've actually got a playlist I made a while back with 20 or so songs by Chet that I've always loved (and would one day love to learn) and it also features some stuff by Jerry Reed, Merle Travis and one by Les Paul (who was unreal).
