A list of puns related to "Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers"
This thread will be for stating your opinions and reviews about the self titled debut from 1976. In doing my own reviews song by song but you do yours how you like.
My personal review:
*1. Rockin' Around (with you):
A good rocker to start the album. Nothing to amazing about it, but it's enjoyable
6/10
*2. Breakdown:
This is the first really great song here. Awesome vocals, fabulous guitar work, it's all good. Super catchy too.
8.5/19
*3. Hometown Blues
Good, but not great. Nothing really sticks out
5/10
*4. The Wild One, Forever:
Wow! What a great song! It has a sort of chilling atmosphere to it. Puts you on edge a bit. And his voice is so emotional and sad in it. And he guitar riff really contributes to the suspense too. A real highlight
8.5/10
*5. Anything That's Rock N' Roll:
It's fun to listen to, a classic rock and roll song. However, it lacks the qualities of some of his best work. Still, it's enough for a good listen.
5.3/10
*6. Strangered in the Night:
Definitely one of his darker songs. The guitar squealing at the beginning is quite intense and sinister, as are the lyrics. This all works in its favour, and it turns out as quite a good song.
8/10
*7. Fooled Again (I Don't Like It):
Like some of the previous songs, "Fooled Again" has a slightly dark and creepy sound, but it's also charming and enjoyable. The subtle keyboard lines and crunchy riffs add quite a lot. Definitely another highlight
8.2/10
*8. Mystery Man:
Some great guitar work on this one, cool lyrics, nice melody, pretty classic Tom Petty if you ask me. Underrated song in my opinion
7.3/10
*9. Luna:
This is a spooky one! Some really interesting keyboards. However, it's not too strong as a song, but it ain't bad.
6.3/10
*10. American Girl
What is there to say? This songs a timeless classic, probably one of, if not the best songs by this band. A chorus that is instantly memorable, powerful lyrics, it's basically perfect.
10/10
Probably one of his top five albums. Most songs are quite catchy and memorable, singing and playing is energetic, it really draws you in. This is Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers at their most rocking and energetic. It may not be their absolute best, but it's a great sign of what's to come, and a really enjoyable album. Leave your own review, and we can all yell at each other for our opinions lol. Have fun! (and be respectful)
