A list of puns related to "Tire load sensitivity"
Probably the most important (imo) principle of Vehicle Dynamics is a tyre's vertical load sensitivity, but I've never actually seen an explanation for why this happens.
I was once this asked in an interview and realised I had absolutely no idea about the physical mechanism behind Fz Vs Mu sensitivity and it's bugged me ever since.
Any ideas?
Does anyone on here run 37β D rated tires, if so how have they handed with just passengers (or just you) and with a lot of weight on the back
Hey all, I picked up a practically new (2020, 2k miles) GLC300 yesterday, and the tire pressure sensors have been going whacko. Can't really take it in on a Sunday, but I manually confirmed with a standard pressure reader, and the app is showing 29 PSI on the front tires with 36/37 on the back. The pressures weren't low when I picked it up, and started going a little nuts when the rain was rolling through (and it's still rainy and in the low 70s here in Chicago today).
The gas cap is showing 32 front/32 back for a normal load, 35/42 for maximum. Are these discrepancies something I should get taken care of right away, or is this an example of the GLC300 being a little overly sensitive on the pressure? Thanks!
Hey everyone,
I'm trying to decide on which load tire to get for my '22 trd OR. I'm pretty sure im going to go with KO2s, but i may get Toyo or Cooper AT3s.
I just cant decide on if i want C or E load. What are you guys running and what do you suggest? I'm mainly curious about ride comfort between the two, obviously you can air down the E load tires but does it truly help it feel as smooth as C?
Thanks for any input.
I'm looking at a set of Falken Wildpeak tires in 265/75R16 that unfortunately only come in SL load or E load. 44lb vs 53lb each.
I'm waffling between the two versions. SL would likely be better for 99% of my needs, but the E load would be nice peace of mind when I'm going through rocky terrain.
I spend most of my time on pavement in the PNW, but like to get out on trails during the weekends and have done some light rock crawling and trips out to the desert in the Southwest. It's all been fine on my stock Goodyear Wranglers so I figure I'd be fine with the SL load, but again the peace of mind from the E would be nice, assuming they're not making my teeth chatter with how harsh they are.
I'm not really concerned with a difference of like 1 or 2 mpg but I'd hate to add all that extra weight if I never need it.
I'm looking to run the WA BDR next summer along with a handful of other off-road trips. Do you think the SL will be too weak and give me anxiety wishing I had thicker side-walls?
Need some help from you guys re. AT tires. I have a 22 ORP on order and it will be my first truck/off-road vehicle. I've done a fair bit of research on tires and one thing I am hung up on is the load rating. I want to be able to take my 4runner off-road but more for the purpose of exploring the wilderness rather than specifically wanting to ride difficult 4x4 trails. Obviously I want tires that I will be able to take off-road without having to worry too much about punctures, but this will also be my daily driver and the vast majority of the driving will be on pavement. I've read a fair bit of forums re. load rating and people seem to be pretty split on it - half the people say E is total overkill for a 4runner/Tacoma/etc. and the other half say they would never run less than E for off-roading. Also, sounds like C and D rated tires would be a happy medium but those seem to be much harder to find in the stock size (265/70R17). The tire I am most interested in is the Falken Wildpeak AT3W and the SL weighs enough that I wouldn't want to go with the E load if I don't have to.
My specific questions that I am trying to answer:
- If they make an AT tire in SL load, it's still an AT tire... so I would assume that it should be built to be ridden off-road. It's not like they make the SL just for show for mall crawlers, right...?
- Two of my top choices are the Falken Wildpeak AT3W and the General Grabber ATX (both in 265/70R17). The Wildpeak's weigh 46.5 lbs in SL and the ATX's weigh 46 lbs in C load. Is it safe to assume that the SL Wildpeaks should have similar durability to the C load ATX?
- How much importance should I be putting on the load rating? Or is the weight of the tire more indicative of the durability? For example, there are certain SL AT tires that are <40lbs and the others (Wildpeaks) where the SL weighs almost as much as the E load from other brands.
- For those of you that have Wildpeak SL's - have you run into any durability/puncture issues?
I'm pretty confused by all of this so any advice is appreciated.
EDIT - I'm not planning to tow anything, only worried about off-roading durability.
I'm in need of a spare tire for a 1000lb , single axle, pull-behind camper (has two wheels). Current tires say 108 load index and load range "D". One I'm looking at says 100 load index and load range "SL".
Or Another option at my local shop: can a 205 width tire be used with a 215?
Can I use these together? Thx.
Hi all,
I'm hosting an iR-01 race and we want to make it fixed setup, but allow people to adjust tire compound and fuel level to start the race. Is this possible? Or is it all-or-nothing fixed vs. open?
Thanks
Bare with me but I just drank some shroom tea and for the upteenth time I've gotten the same physical symptoms. Sometimes they vary but they seem to be a combination of:
Increased sensitivity to pain and discomfort
Pain in and around the eyes
Flushed feeling in face
Chest and throat feeling hot (like just swallowed a grenade and it blew up like in one of those cartoons)
Even the thought of mushrooms can sometimes manifest that same feeling in my throat.
I would take this to a doctor but I'd probably need to have my shrink with me too and that's not gonna happen.
I have tried everywhere from 0.03 to 1g and it even at the smallest of doses I get a tiny tinge of these symptoms but it's bareable. The other thing though is that it seems like at higher doses I'm fine for the most part. Though it's been awhile I can't rule out having someone around me has been a major factor, I'm starting to wonder if higher doses are better for me but I'm still not convinced this is body load. I can't tell if it's just anxiety either.
I will say, and maybe this is something, but just today I experienced a moment or two when it felt like the symptoms receded almost completely but it felt like they came on again it just a matter of moments.
I'm wondering if there's people who have had similar issues and if they overcame it.
I am in the process of buying new winter tires for my 2021 RF 2.0 Sport. I was thinking of using the oem 17β rim with the new winter tires and then buying some nice new rims next summer. I am probably gonna end up buying 205/45R17 Pirelli Winter Sotozero 3 as we normally have mild winters here in Denmark. However the manual states that the load index has to be 84, but all the winter tires I find are 88. Is it fine to buy it anyway? My understanding is also that I shouldnβt buy run flat tires? Hope someone can help π
hi i just got my first load of money in gta after grinding alot, and i got an oppresor mk2. I am on pc and i can drive it on the ground, but when i take off i need to drag my mouse SUPER far across my mouse pad to get it to go slightly up, And i have decent sensitivity, please help
Iβm considering ordering a Tremor and they come with LT tires. Are the tires C or E rating, or what?
Last time I had LT tires they were E rated and rather harsh ride quality was the predictable outcome.
Every day I log in and jump into a game I have to set my sensitivity every time itβs frustrating. Iβm on the Xbox S|X. Can this be fixed?
