Hey everyone, I got a hold of some timbales for dirt cheap. They're not / the greatest looking ones, but they play! Stand, cowbell, and 13" & 14" timbales (can't tell if brass or bronze).
I put some new heads I had laying around on em just for shits n giggles - coated emperor on the 13" and coated ambassador on the 14".
I didn't think emperor would sound good....and sure as shit, definitely wasn't the sound I'd want or imagine a timbale should sound like.
I imagine clear ambassadors would be an ideal head but didn't wanna spend money just yet without getting some feedback.
Does anyone have any experience with timbales and have heads they recommend?

Hey everyone!
I'm looking for some recommendations for a good set of timbale sticks. I'm also an all-around percussionist so these sticks will likely have other uses as well. Unfortunately I don't really have the time or necessarily the means to go somewhere and try out the best sticks for me, so I'm restricted to online shopping (steveweiss, etc.).
