A list of puns related to "Tihar Jail"
Hello ! New prisoner here are some rules for your safety, if you want to live here peacefully.
This rule is not a joke or prank as you may think it in that way but it is an actual message that the authority wants to convey you for some reasons.
Here are the rules
Never look out after 8 PM to 12 AM from your cell window. If due to some reason you had to look out then if you a see a man stare at him for 5 min without making any movement. Then go to your bed and close your eyes until you hear the morning wake up announcement.
Prisoner No. 13 and 66 are more than human. So try to avoid them as much as possible and do not pay any heed to there sayings or warnings about the jail. The last person name " Joseph Anderson " who listened to them is still missing till this date.
Exactly at 1 : 30 AM to 2 : 30 AM all the cell opens up automatically due to some reason that we are still not able to figure out. During that time no one should try to get out of their cells and try to escape. Trying to escape at that time may lead to experiences fa more worse than death.
During 3 AM you may notice a pregnant woman standing outside your cell and will ask you where is her daughter, remember to answer her back exactly this lines by saying that " she is playing with prisoner 66" and she will go away.
Just after 15 minutes at 3 : 15 AM you will see a girl standing outside your cell and will ask you if you have seen her mother, remember to answer back exactly this lines by saying that " she is with prisoner 13" and go back to sleep. Never allow the mother and daughter come together. Because of one prisoner in 1863, we had to face many problems.
Never eat the meal that is given on Sunday. Even though you are hungry do not eat it. It is better to starve than eat because for some reasons.
There are two guards named "Ravi" and " Sandesh". Always remember that whenever they ask you anything do not answer back at all for god's sake let whatever may happen. You will be able to know them by their extreme deep voice and sometimes silence is better than speech.
During the day you will see an old lady sweeping the garden, always greet her politely and ask her about her well being. If she takes a liking in you she may be your greatest ally and if she takes a disinterest in you, just kill yourself and thank God that you are saved from her wrath.
If due to any reason you have caused any problem to the authority and other prisoners, then you shall be strai
Madhumita Pandey is a lecturer of criminology in Sheffield Hallam University. She conducted this research while completing her Masters degree.
In March 2013, three months after the crime, Pandey applied for permission to speak to more than 100 convicted rapists in Delhi's Tihar Central Jail. Going by the ethical guidelines set out by the British Psychological Society, she said she would only interview willing participants.
Pandey assigned numbers to each rapist and did not use their names. In three phases spanning several months, Pandey spoke to 122 men convicted of rape. In addition to her interviews, she asked them to fill out two questionnaires. TheΒ Attitudes Towards Women TestΒ would reveal how they felt about women in general, and theΒ Multicultural Masculinity Ideology ScaleΒ would gauge their cultural understanding of how men should act or behave.
Her interviews reinforced the views that rapists had a poor opinion of women in general, but their utter lack of remorse came as a surprise to her. One exception was Participant 49. He is a middle-age man convicted of raping a 5-year-old and had served five years when she interviewed him. He said he felt remorse. But it was not the kind of remorse one might expect. "He expressed his remorse by saying that now that the girl carries the stigma of rape [and thus is no longer a virgin] and would not find a suitable husband; he would repent for his actions by marrying her when he was released," says Pandey. "He didn't realize that this is not what any rape victim would want. His mindset highlighted a very regressive thought that a woman has to be chaste till marriage or else she is damaged goods."
Pandey says she saw a pattern of "cognitive distortion" β they had created their own version of the crime that allowed them to justify their actions.
"Mukesh Singh [The bus driver who was involved in the 2012 gang rape] and his brother Ram Singh are classic examples, with attitudes typical of the rapists I spoke to," says Pandey.
In an interview from jail for the documentary, Mukesh Singh claimed that if Jyoti and her male friend had not tried to fight back, the six males on the bus would not have beaten them so severely. He described the incident as an "accident" and stated that women who went out at night had only themselves to blame if they attracted molesters. Like Singh, the rapists interviewed by Pandey shared a lack of awareness of what consent meant.
