A list of puns related to "The Three Caballeros"
Before anything, I'm a fan of DuckTales. Have yet to catch up on the latest episodes, but Jaw$ was a total homerun of an episode and I'm game for the series' long run. However when it comes its handling of Donald, the series is lacking, and more so when placed next to Legend of the Three Caballeros. Say what you will about that show, but it does a ton with Donald's personality in a way Ducktales hasn't made an effort to rival since its pilot.
In all fairness, said pilot is still one of my favorite animated portrayals of the character. Showing several sides to Donald, it succeeded in mirroring the duck's versatility as shown in the comics. It was very, VERY well made and not to be dismissed. Yet in the series' bigger picture, he's either absent or reduced to filler comic relief. Running in utter panic at the notion of Scrooge's birthday? Can't find his way out of a pantry? The "can't understand you" gag at the start of Jaw$, a joke that's as tired as it is one-note? The series made a big deal of bringing Donald back, then excludes him from every other scenario where his potential can be exploited, almost like they're reluctant to tap into it. Heck, there's an in-universe explanation to facilitate keeping him out of the adventures he was supposedly gonna be a big part of.
Meanwhile, Caballeros has FUN with their Don. They don't write their way around him, on the contrary, he's got meaningful things to do and say all the time, hilarious stuff too (sassiest Donald ever and better for it). He screws up just as often as he saves the day, he even attains some self-awareness as the series goes on...Here, the duck feels like a full character, someone the staff is passionate about. The series modeled after the classic cartoons is the one thriving on exploring Don's personality! Whereas the one that claims loyalty to the comics leaves him to collect narrative dust.
Yeah, Don's THE lead in Caballeros, not so in DuckTales (though there's something to be said for how little protagonism he ended up having compared to what was marketed before the series launched). But even then, it's hard not to feel like there's much more you can do with the duck than what DuckTales has delivered 17 episodes in. Thankfully, Angones has already promised more with Donald come next season. I'm looking forward to it, 'cause I know the DuckTales staff can absolutely knock it off the park with Don; after all, they've done so already. Just hoping it happens more often.
September 5th was announced to be a national holiday for elections to take place. Polling was organized by Unions for all of their workers, and as there were four major candidates, it was decided that national elections would take place with single-transferable-vote polling (AKA ranked-choice voting). Turnout among workers part of Unions in the General strike was extremely high at 93%, however on the scale of Spain as a whole, voter turnout was quite low due to many companies still being under the control of company bosses and not the Unions. The results were the following:
Round 1:
GarcΓa Oliver: 14%
JosΓ© DΓaz: 22%
Largo Caballero: 35%
LucΓa Saornil: 29%
Round 2:
JosΓ© DΓaz: 23%
Largo Caballero: 38%
LucΓa Saornil: 39%
Round 3:
Largo Caballero: 54%
LucΓa Saornil: 46%
With voting and counting being finished, Largo Caballero was announced to be the First Secretary General of the Iberian Federation.
Is that a photo of an actual thing that exists? Some of you are probably familiar with this cover art, but anyway, this is one of the best quality images I found: https://imgur.com/gallery/zDyPoR6
