The cop who shot the protester in HK wasn't completely unjustified. He shot someone who was swinging a metal rod at him in a chaotic protest where fire bombs and molotovs were being thrown at police.

Not a China stan, but a lot of people on reddit today seem to be wanting to vicariously live their revolutionary fantasies through these protesters. Pro HK people bots are copy pasting messages about how the shooting was absolutely not self defense because he could have backed out while getting hit, or he didn't need to be there in the first place. That's ridiculous. You get physically violent against people with guns, and you're likely to get shot - that's just a natural consequence. I'd guess that none of the arm chair revolutionaries on reddit have actually feared for their life in that sort of situation, so it's a bit ridiculous to say all of these things the cop should have done instead, in that moment while being hit.
