A list of puns related to "The Score (2001 film)"
And it was perfect, the very essence of Tolkien's work was captured and portrayed beautifully. The actors and actresses were perfect for their roles, the musical score was and still is considered to be the best musical score ever. It was the highest grossing film trilogy for a very long time. it created millions of fans of Tolkien and are still loved by many to this day.
then a decade later they made LOTR and ruined it.
Do you think it's fair to say 2001 is the greatest film in history and a landmark of filmmaking, ahead of Citizen Kane, the Godfather, Casablanca and Gone with the Wind? Perhaps level with Vertigo?
The 2001 film "Enemy at the Gates" was quite popular. It was very good popcorn cinema and arguably remains the most popular movie about the Eastern Front of WW2.
The movie, however, vastly exaggerated the tactical and strategic shortcomings of the Red Army during that time. While "human wave" tactics and "no step back" orders did exist and were used occasionally, their usages, to my knowledge (which comes mostly from this subreddit to be fair), were very localized and not very widespread as depicted in the film. There were also not such widespread supply shortages that one man would be given a rifle with one 5-round clip and the man behind him was given another 5-round clip and told to pick up the other man's rifle should he drop dead.
Nowadays, those incorrect perceptions of the Red Army during WW2 remain very popular. So the question is then: Did "Enemy at the Gates" popularize those misconceptions? If not, then what did?

And the film needn't necessarily be sci-fi or about space, evolution, etc.
Bertrand Russell describes a similar type of beauty that I experience when viewing Kubrick's films, but most especially 2001: A Space Odyssey:
> Mathematics, rightly viewed, possesses not only truth, but supreme beautyβa beauty cold and austere, like that of sculpture, without appeal to any part of our weaker nature, without the gorgeous trappings of painting or music, yet sublimely pure, and capable of a stern perfection such as only the greatest art can show. The true spirit of delight, the exaltation, the sense of being more than Man, which is the touchstone of the highest excellence, is to be found in mathematics as surely as poetry.
Now, even if no other film manages to capture the type of beauty that 2001 is able to, please at least try to name a film that approximates it, as I wish to have that delightful awe-inspiring experience which I had in first watching 2001.
Quick note - This data is meant to be cheeky.
This morning, I woke up with this feeling, I didn't know how to deal with, and so I just decided to myself that Iβd count all the screams featured in the Scream franchise to see if there's an ideal amount of screams, or whether they affect the Tomatometer/IMDb/Metacritic/Box Office results.
After some research, I found that there are a few infographics, lists and videos that attempted to count the screams, but they didnβt seem thorough enough to stop me from my quest. Thus, I felt like my idea to count the screams was justified (Hello Mickey from Scream 2). To prove I did the work, Iβve provided timestamps of all the screams I included in my count.
Hereβs what I counted as a scream:
Scream - When a character belts out an "aaaaaaahhhh" or "eeeeeeeee" (you know the noise). I didn't count when a character yells 'Help me!" or "Oh, sh**!" No words, only primal screams.
I counted screams that occured during these instances:
Amount of screams per film
Results
Scream (1996)
Scream features the least amount of screams and death. It also made the most money at the box office, when the audience/critic scores are averaged, it has the highest scores.

Scream 2 (1997)
The film was a piece of art at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
It is night. It starts out dark but you can hear the helicopter approaching. Then the searchlight comes on and you can see a field of long grass and the edge of a forest. The helicopter leaves and then returns. The search seems to be almost frantic.
I saw this at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in early 2001. This time is very nostalgic for me as I had just moved to California.
IIRC, I also watched the Chinese New Years parade and saw the Twelve Galaxies guy on the same day.
Does anyone remember this?
Does anyone know the name of the film?
It's sad that in the 20 years since it released, we haven't got anything quite like it. MiB 1 and The Mask come to mind but they came before this one.
Also particular shoutout to Orlando Jones' performance. He has some awesome one liners in this:
"So does the Nobel Prize pay in installments or in a lumpsum like the lottery"
"How many cells are single-celled organisms supposed to have ?"
"Nadine, sometimes science stinks."
"Take it! Take the leg!"
"It's amazing how many women just open their shirt to him."
The mall singing scene is comedy gold.
Also worth highlighting: The subtle racial humour from Orlando Jones and the harmless objectifying of Julianne Moore was really well done; but if this movie had come out today, woke idiots would have been outraged.
Also the CGI was really good for its time
Frailty is one of my favorite horror films from the early 2000s, it still has possibly my favorite performance from McConaughey & the late Bill Paxton as well. I thought that he did an excellent job directing this movie. The film features a very interesting premise as well as great performances from a great cast, Bill Paxton, Matthew McConaughey, Powers Boothe etc. were all solid, really liked the performances from Matt O'Leary & Jeremy Sumpter also.
It featured some great twists & turns as well. Have you seen the film? If not, I'd highly recommend it. If you have seen it, what did you think of it, the twists and Paxton's overall direction of this film?
Just curious
