Step 20: Create Charcoal, smelt ores

Step 21: Forge 10 breastplates, 10 shortswords, 10 shields, 10 gauntlets (not 20! they are made in pairs) 10 boots and 10 greaves

Step 22: Dig into a cave (if you dig into a cave before this point block it off with wall/floor) and create similar bridge entrance as in step 14.

You should now have a functioning fortress with content dwarves

Bonus steps:

BStep 1: Create Hotkeys for key parts of fortress (entrance, meeting hall, caves entrance), not required but save a ton of time.

BStep 2: Smooth walls, also not required but makes fortress look better

BStep 3: Create Garbage Dump by channeling a hole 8 z-levels deep with an updown staircase next to it, create dumping zone.

BStep 4: Create animal pen on the surface and build walls around it with one door. Not required but herbivores will hang around the meeting hall and starve creating miasma

BStep 5: Create traps close to the entrances of your fort. Stonefall traps are easiest to make and reliable, Cage Traps captures creatures of many different sizes.

BStep 6: Make your meeting hall into tavern.

They wanted to understand what it meant, to be separate. To be alone. It's a horror to them, and also a source of fascination; in the same way, I suppose, that our own species enjoys a small awful, delicious shiver at the idea of a person buried alive.

They didn't evolve with telepathy, at least not the kind they have now, which in any case isn't what you'd probably picture after a lifetime of pulp science fiction and comic book tropes thickening the cultural air from birth. No giant brains sending out eerie invisible waves. Their brains are smaller than ours, half-machine, nano-scale, efficient and compact, and it's the machine parts that can talk to each other. Some kind of quantum entanglement.

Before, in the near-legendary past, they lived in sorts of communal nests, binding their nervous systems together. Even when they went out to hunt or forage, it was always in twos or threes. Without some sort of link, they nearly always died of bewildered, lonely despair. Now, that almost never happens. Too many failsafes. It was one of the first things they developed after figuring out electricity, actually. Crude cybernetics before even the invention of radio; it helps that their brains don't have the aggressive response to foreign matter that human neural tissue does, and that their peripheral nervous system has direct cognitive-information trunks connecting to the central.

It took me a long, traumatic time to figure all this out, even though they were trying their best to tell me, to ask me the questions they almost didn't want the answers to. I learned that they understood I was suffering, but figured that for a species like ours, creatures stuck inside their own heads from cradle to grave, well, what would a little more misery really matter?

I've forgotten what it's like to have hair, or even to run my hands over my own scalp and feel only skin. Now, there are some things you will obviously have to order wedding style, such as a dress or cake. But with things like flowers, music, and even catering, you can simply order a regular good or service at a reasonable price. Here's an example: cupcakes. Say you want to have cupcakes at your wedding, you know how many you need for the reception. Several wedding "packages" sell the same cupcakes that are used for more casual events like a birthday party, and are significantly cheaper for said events. However, once you throw in the word "Wedding," the price is suddenly jacked up 2, 3, maybe four times the original, and the only perk to justify it is "tasting." You already know what flavors your guests are going to eat, so just order those flavors, and say that you're throwing a massive party for friends and family, since you are doing that. When I told one of my friends about this trick who is a bride-to-be, they saved HUNDREDS of dollars!

The same thing can work for Prom as well, but it might not be as effective because Prom season is very noticeable, while weddings can happen any day of the year.

So, from Picard, we can see that the former Neutral Zone between the United Federation of Planets and Romulan Star Empire (now the Romulan Free State) seemingly lacks any kind of structured government. The Fenris Rangers act as pseudo-law enforcement, if such a term can be applied to a lawless area, but it’s clear they don’t have much in the way of resources, given how much power we see a single Warlord with an old T’liss has over a region.

I’ve seen many comments regarding the Federation’s newfound isolationism, with many expressing the viewpoint that the Federation of old would have stepped in. While this may be the case, I’d like to (attempt to) go into detail about whether or not this is a) within their purview, b) the right course of action, and c) even possible.

So, firstly:

Does the Federation have the responsibility to look after the Neutral Zone?

The Neutral Zone is outside of Federation space, and, as such, one can make the argument that they don’t have the right to get involved. Looking after the people of the Federation is certainly part of their purview, but, in addition to the the issues described below, the people of the Neutral Zone aren’t part of the Federation. If the Federation goes into the Neutral Zone, doesn’t that mean they also have the right to decide that the rights of, say, the citizens of the Klingon Empire, aren’t up to their standards, and interfere accordingly? While it’s a bit of a slippery-slope argument (the Neutral Zone doesn’t have a government, unlike my example), I do feel this is something that will come up in-universe. The Federation doesn’t, in my view, have a legal responsibility to interfere. A moral one, however...

Is it morally right to get involved in the affairs of the Neutral Zone?

It’s clear from what we see that many people in this area are suffering. There’s no organised government, and the region has both warlords carving out fiefdoms and large criminal organisations vivisecting former Borg, who themselves have little to no protection. The obvious first response is that the Federation should do something about this. A lot of suffering could be avoided, after all, and humanitarian aid is one of Starfleet’s most important purposes. I’m so sad rn. Has anyone else had this problem??

Especially in instances like the opening scene when she is going into a training situation with someone she usually loses to. She has ample time to get ready for the fight and having her hair flipping all over her eyes and peripheral vision is a major tactical disadvantage! I can hardly stand to do something mundane with hair in my face, let alone something that requires concentration. It seems like her hair in the movie had nothing to do who she is as a character--an awesomely intelligent, fun, and pragmatic woman with a tom boy/air force background--and everything to do with Hollywood's expectations for how women are presented. She's a soldier turned superhero, not a shampoo and conditioner model.

EDIT to add: obviously I’m talking about in-universe logic. Of course it is unrealistic to have superpowers and stuff, but we’re in the Marcel universe!

Long time lurker, first time poster, I feel like this group would get a chuckle out of this story. I posted this all over the internet in my area, for legal sake, let's call her by her initials, RLK. Also if you live in Chicago, and the person with these initials reaches out to you, here's a cautionary tale.

Here's the story of RLK.

In April 2019, I happen-chance reunited with RLK while she was walking her dogs and found out she was moving for what I believe was the 3rd time within 1 year. Feeling sympathy for her and her side of the story, I decided to invite her into my home and let her stay with me indefinitely due to the fact that she was homeless at the time and had two dogs. Her staying with me fell through (I was living under a slum lord and neighbors below us just as unstable as her.) I asked my mom to house her since my mom lived in Chicago and knew RLK well. (RLK was my mom’s old neighbor- how I knew her.)

My mom agreed and she lived with my mom for about a month. During this time RLK suggested that we look for a place together since it appeared to be working well at the time between us and I trusted her with my mom. I was living under a slumlord anyway so I suppose I was eager to get out (my biggest complaint about the slum house was that we never got heat during the polar vortex.)

Our first argument: We applied for an apartment together. I sent an email to our new landlord asking for status of our apartment approval and asked how to expedite the process, RLK exploded at me because I sent the landlord an email “too soon” & “without her permission” even though she was CC’d on every correspondence. I should have turned away then and there, it should have been a warning sign. Upon move in, she attempted to negotiate rent and the fees associated with the apartment but to be fair the apartment was not ready ready for move in and did need a lot of work, my bedroom doors weren’t installed, some lights were out, the typical apartment things. However, the reason it wasn’t completely ready was due to the fact that we pressured the apartment company to approve us, they let us move in early because she was homeless. In the end she got what she wanted.

The second argument: I worked at a dog daycare. I offered to take her dog(s) to daycare for her. To qualify for daycare we needed a certain record of shots and a clean fecal. Upon getting the fecal results, we were told the dog had roundworms. I found a vet that offered a free first exam. I put the
