Why do so many Americans use disposable plates and cutlery?

I see so many posts of people showing off their food in various subs, but I'm amazed at how many use disposable plates. What in the world is up with that? If money is an issue, isn't it cheaper to get a few plates at the Dollar store, or a thrift shop? I'd love to hear from some paper plate lovers.

What if Equus Gigantius was not extinct by overhunting around 12000 BC and was domesticated around 1000 BC in North America? What would be the implications of North American (and Mexican) natives having a huge horse at their disposal able to carry 700 pounds and pull 3 tonnes (6000 pounds)?

Current research says that our present draft horses are able to pull 2 times their weight and carry around 20% of their weight on their backs with minimum effort.

Equus Gigantius (according to projections extrapolated from a metatarsal and a molar tooth found in Nebraska and Texas, respectively - Downs & Miller, 1994 and Willoughby, 1974) had an estimated weight of 3500 pounds and was around 6 feet tall at withers. It was extinct around 12000 BC as result of overhunting.

Let's say it survived and was domesticated. What would be the economic, military, social and cultural implications of North American (and Mexican, especially Toltec and, later, the Aztec) having a horse that was at least twice as large and thrice as powerful than anything Europeans could field at that time?

It's all pretty much in the title. I've heard a lot that reusable bags' production is terrible for the environment and we're better off using disposable bags. Is there any truth to this?

For the Americans with the evil disposal sink monsters.

Choppy sink fan goes SSHHHHHVWOKOKOKOKOK and then your fork falls in and it goes VKVOKVVOVKVOJVOVNVOVK like a maniac. You quickly reach to turn off the disposal. You reach into the glory hole. When you are exploring the parts of the unseen world, the disposal turns on. You rush to dial 911. Do you dial it though? Is your hand worth the 5 thousand dollar ambulance fee? What about the surgery? You cannot afford that. You do your own medical treatment. You chug some whiskey, snort some cocaine, and amputate your own hand. It’s better than the doctors doing it and running your poor ass into debt for the next three years. Infection appears on your stump forearm. Pus oozes from it. You feel cramps, as if your hand was still there. You lose feeling in your arm. The infection travels. You die. Your family pays 20k for a funeral, and everyone forgets about you.

Have you ever been the "disposable" or "support" friend?

I'm in my 30s and I still struggle with both romantic and friendly relationships. I have several "friends" that only come to me when they need help or to feel better, and then they vanish again. I feel like some of it is due to location, but it's been such a frequent thing in my life even before I moved that it's really getting to me lately. I see a therapist for anxiety, and her explanation is that people tend to attract others with similar issues and mindsets, but if that were the case I'd be in a group of mom friends with anxiety.

Just wondering how other people who've been in a similar situation dealt with it. Did it get better for you? Did you have to change something about yourself?

We need more emphasis on the use of disposable gloves

I'm surprised the use of gloves isn't more encouraged. Even in China, it seems only workers are using them. I believe gloves don't give as much a sense of security and their importance might be underestimated.

The use of hands sanitizers comes with its own problems. I can even make the skin more at risk of infection if someone's skin doesn't handle it well. Also, it's harder to enforce. Eventually, end up using only a small quantity to avoid hurting their hand too much.

It's likely the worldwide production of disposable gloves (they don't have to be medical grades) is capable of meetings the needs. Making it mandatory to change gloves multiple a day could go a long way is twarding the propagation. It's also easy to enforce.

A combination of gloves and sanitizers could be done, more so if gloves need to be rationed. It would also make it possible to use stronger sanitizers.
