Hello bottoms and connoisseur of Good Pop Music
In this very special installment of this continuous series, we're gonna be ranking the work of r/Pophead's Mother Dragon, the one and only Carly Rae Jepsen, in preparation for her upcoming AMA here on our own very homosexual subreddit and the release of her upcoming 4th studio album, both happening on May 17th
If you wanna participate you just have to rate from 0-10 the Carly's tracks included in the Google Form featured below that I created for the specific purpose of this ranking.
This list includes all of her songs officially released from her studio albums (including bonus tracks) and some other loose releases here and there, including collaborations, covers and soundtrack appearances:
Not included on this ranking are the the standard remixes, her 2004 independent EP Dear You, her work on Canadian Idol and, as usual, leaked tracks.
The ranking will be open to vote until midnight EST from May 16th (yes, that's two days from now), and the results would be revealed on the morning of May 17th. Doing the ranking requires you to sign up with your Google account (don't worry, both your email and your username will be safe)... AND it algo gives you the chance to change your scores anytime you want, just in case.
Let's see which deep cut is the worst.

If you haven't heard some of the songs, i'll ask you to check them out in YouTube or Spotify/Apple Music in order to give them a fair score... also please DON'T GIVE EVERYTHING A 9 OR 10 OTHERWISE WHAT'S THE POINT OF ALL OF THIS!?!?
Thank you for participating and be sure to check out the Carly Rae Jepsen AMA on May 17th.
Seriously, we need Carly to be mainstream so that the str8s can't be left out of the gospel of Carly
p.s. istg if ure gonna use CMM πππ
Many a times i see random song recommendations on my feed. Those are usually their most popular songs. I love that song so much that i decide to look up other music. But in a row all their other songs disappoint. I'm not very impatient or pessimistic so i decide to wait for their new release. If that too disappoints, i more than often give up for good. Ever happened with y'all? Which song? Which artist? Do you have any hopes or you've totally given up?
Tysm!
Obviously there are artists which have their debut as their greatest work (Guns N' Roses, Nas, Wu-Tang Clan) but for the majority of the music it isn't the case. I personally prefer to listen in chronological order, even if it means to listen to some mediocre stuff too. In my opinion in that way you could see the artist evolve and grow artistically in different directions, especially more experimental acts like Radiohead, Autechre, Swans, Bjork, David Bowie. Probably it isn't the same with more straightforward bands but i guess any album is worth a listen. What's your opinion? Do you think there are artists/bands discographies that are better to listen in chronological order?
I've been thinking about this lately, and how some artists use their albums to tell a story.
I first thought of this when listening to "Brave New Girl" by Britney Spears, and thought it could've been a Glee montage when Rachel Berry gets to NY.
I feel like there could be a pretty cool movie/musical to Taylor Swift's albums, and definitely a lot of other artists. Probably would need a minimum of 10 songs, if not more for it truly tell a story based on the artists work.
Also, who you guys cast in this movie/musical?
Tug of War: +. An okay debut album that showed the potential the artist has.
Kiss: X. A much better follow up album that gives the artist their first taste of mainstream success. It gets much more critical acclaim and secured a following for them.
Eβ’MOβ’TION: Divide. They have fucking nothing in common.
I listen to Iron Maiden since i can remember i listen to music, but i had never listened all of their albums until now. I will do the classic "worst to best" with some notes about it:
16 - No Prayer for the Dying - I remember listening to this a lot when i was younger, it was really good but... Would be better if this had stayed in my memory. It's not a complete shit, "No Prayer for the Dying" is nice, bring you daughter to the slaughter is enjoyable, but the others, as much as i listen to it gets worse.
15 - Virtual XI - This was new to me, but not exactly a good experience. The Clansman is amazing, Futureal is nice, Como Estais Amigo and When Two Worlds Collide are not bad. But the rest is shit to me, i just can't understand The Angel and The Gambler, how do all the band and the team listened to this and said "this is good", it's IMPOSSIBLE to listen the entire song! The others are just... not good. At least the cover art is incredible, one of my favorites.
14 - The X Factor - Other new experience. If i had one word to describe it, it will be "dark". The lyrics, the songs, the Blaze Bayley voice, all of this is just... dark. I enjoyed it, but not so much. Sign of the Cross is one of the best maiden songs, the others are not bad, just forgettable.
13 - Fear of the Dark - This, as NPFTD, was better in my memory. Fear of the Dark (song) is amazing, Be Quick or Be Dead and Afraid to Shoot Strangers are good too, the rest is forgettable or really bad.
12 - Killers - Don't kill me, please, i know this is an unpopular opinion, but i really don't like it so much. New experience, never listened to before (except for 2 or 3 songs), i just think it's a more generic version of the first album, but more repetitive and boring.
11 - The Final Frontier - Now the good stuff begin. Other new experience, but a surprise. A really good album, especially "When the Wild Wind Blows", this is a masterpiece. It would be higher on the list if it had more "highlights", it's a bit forgettable, except for the last song and El Dorado, it didn't catch me so much. But, still a very good album.
10 - Book of Souls - Really hard choice. I listened to this when it launched, and my opinion remains the same. Very good album, it has a song that is on top 5 best maiden songs (Empire of the Clouds), and others that are amazing, like If Eternity Should Fail, Book of Souls and Speed of Light. The others are good too. The hard step of putting this on the 10th position is that, i really love
... keep reading on reddit β‘For me personally it's rare that if i like a bands music i actually delve into their solo stuff because to be honest, 90% of the time it does not even come close to the original band but with something as auteured and finely polished as Steely Dan i should have figured i would not be dissapointed so recently i listened to The Nightfly by Donald Fagen and it just sounds like a fantastic continuation on the Steely Dan sound, his other solo albums are great too but that one in specific is just like an additional Steely Dan album to delve into so if you haven't yet, please listen to this album.
Mine: Fan Base:
Happy 2020 everybody!!! In preparation for the Essentials of 2019 List, Im looking to fill in the wiki discography with your favorite albums that are missing from it and I would appreciate your suggestions to add to the wiki. Thanks!
This album is a part of our lives forever and we will always have this memory. I Love you all thank you so much. God bless.
For example, my favorite is When the Sun Goes Down, From the Ritz to the Rubble, A Certain Romance from WPSIATWIN
Hi! One of my favorite things about Love Live is the music, and I was wondering what you all thought were some of the most underrated songs?
ΞΌ's
Mogyutto βloveβ de Sekkin Chu! - One of my favorite LL songs, I think itβs adorable! Honokaβs solo in the end is so pretty and I love the tune of the chorus
Shangri-la Shower - One of the lesser known ΞΌ's songs, itβs got a catchy beat and always makes me feel happy haha
Paradise Live - Itβs not the most unique song but I find it to be really catchy and the lyrics are sweet.
Aqours
Miracle Wave - My Mai Tonight is the coupling single for this song, so it feels a little overshadowed (MMT is still a great song though!) but when people talk about Miracle Wave they only really talk about the dance, rightfully so though as Anchan was amazing! The song has such an uplifting chorus and never fails to put a smile on my face
Tousou Meisou Mobius Loop - Aqoursβ Hello Hoshi o Kazoete is one of my favorite in their discography, all of the third years and especially Mari shines here!
Natsu e no Tobira Never end ver. - Super fun and cute, this unexpected trio work really well together! Can we also take a minute to appreciate Ainyaβs rap skills lmao
Genki Zenkai DAY! DAY! DAY! - I can understand where all of the distaste towards this song comes from, and I agree that the start of the second verse wasnβt the greatest idea the LL staff have had, but this song is so catchy and upbeat itβs easy to ignore that. The βya yaβ section at the beginning is something I could listen to all day haha, definitely a song Iβd love to see live
I donβt think thereβs been enough songs amongst NijiGaku yet to decide which are underrated and overrated, so maybe sometime in the future I can make this thread again lol, thank you for reading and Iβd love to hear your opinions!
So discluding the first CD (don't hate me, but it's not really the MCR we now know) I could see the other 3 CDs and potentially the new one being one story line.
3 Cheers is about the man's life and what went so wrong to make him the shitty person he is known to be in TBP. He experiences bullying (I'm Not Okay), heartbreak (Helena), war (The Ghost Of You). And all of this makes him become a terrible person.
We then see him dying in TBP and he dies at the ending.
So my theory is that Danger Days and everything that happens in it is a storyline playing itself out in purgatory. There is even the line in Na Na that says "I'd rather go to hell than be in purgatory."
And then the rumored new album which is said to be about Witchcraft could be about the resurrection of this character. Mimicked in the resurrection of the band.
What do y'all think?
No Way Back is absolutely fantastic. The drums are fast and punk-like, the guitars are interesting, and the vocals are passionate and simply heart-wrenching. Really makes me wanna give Dave Grohl a hug.
I recently saw a review of the whole In Your Honor album, and the guy called this track FILLER. Am I the only one who thinks this is ridiculous?
Also their #1 most underrated track is Hey, Jonny Park! don't @ me.
Not just by Eminem, by anyone.
Its thoughtful, meaningful, catchy, is jam packed full of classics, and even the non classic songs only sound off because they are surrounded by absolute greatness.
The production is absolutely sick, and when you listen to it now, it really foreshadows a lot of what his future would hold, and you can really see where his head was at at the time.
