A list of puns related to "The Birds and the Bees (Jewel Akens song)"
Hence the analogy.
I know it alludes to sex, but why do people use that as a metaphor? What do they even have to do with each other? They both fly ig. But then again what does that have to do with sex? Why isn't it the bees and the flowers? Pollination is a lot easier to explain than why tf there's a bird fucking a bee.
Haaaaaa...
Okay. My (I'm a guy if that matters) oldest is at that age. We've had kind of a shorter talk years before but I think it's time for the big one (and hopefully the start of open communication to a degree?)
I know there's a girl he texts with but I'm not about to go on his phone and see what's up. I'm a big fan of privacy unless they lose my trust for some reason.
Sooooo I thought I'd better have a chat soon about everything and I want to see what y'all have talked about or wish you'd talked about and how it went . And maybe at what age you had the talk? I'm anxious about it. Mostly about messing up or forgetting things.
Sexuality (going over heterosexuality, homosexuality, bisexuality and everything else), Transgenderism (of which he's aware of a certain level but I don't know to what degree so I'd like to make sure he's aware of what it is, how it affects people and how shitty some people can be about it), consent (another big one), STDs, anatomy, how things work, how to treat partners well and not be a douche, how to respect yourself when exploring the waters, how open I am regardless of his sexuality and how I'm perfectly fine with him coming to me with questions, concerns and so forth. Basically a "Look, I've fucked up a lot in life and learned a lot because of it. Let me try to save you some pain from my mistakes."
He didn't invite said girl to his birthday party and hasn't mentioned her. I'm not going to say I know but will gently prod to ask if there's anyone. I just want to let him know somehow that if there's a girl or boy he's interested in, he doesn't have to hide them away. I'm not one of those parents that will tease him for dating anyone - male or female.
I'd love to hear from people, especially on the dating front since that's an entirely alien concept to me as a parent. My parents were Catholic and barely around and I was pretty introverted as a youth so that doesn't help, either. I don't know what boundaries to set or what to bring up or anything.
Heeeelp.
Iβm FURIOUS. Someone thought they had the right to teach Timothy the βbirds and the bees.β IβM his father, so it was my right.
We were walking down the hygiene aisle in Target (the one on 42nd Avenue, NOT the Adam Street one - the beehive outside scares the wife and I) During the walk, Timothy asked βwhy do bees pollinate flowers? And how does that have anything to do with sex?β
Obviously someone taught him what sex was. Heβs 17, and has been with his girlfriend since they were 14. I donβt want them to know what βdoing the deed isβ So I need advice on how to get him to forget what he was taught.
I expect him to unlearn it, before he has a baby! (Weβre Christian, and pre-marital sex is a NO)
Kids start talking about sex with their friends so young now. When did you guys know it was time for "the talk" and what kind of things did you say or words did you use? I'm most worried about how to phrase things appropriately.

If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe, then man would have only four years of life left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man." -- Albert Einstein

This happened to one of my colleagues and I just had to share.
He teaches a grade 4/5 class and the difference that year can make is pretty incredible.
So one day whilst tidying up in his room during an indoor recess, he overheard one of his grade 5s approach one of the grade 4s.
5: Hey, so who do you think is the sexiest PokΓ©mon?
4: What?
5: You know, sexiest.
4: Umm...Snorlax?
For the uninitiated, here is what a Snorlax looks like.
"Son" they said, "birds do it, bees do it, so it's completely fine and natural for you to do it too. It's nothing to be ashamed of"
They were of course referring to my unfortunate habit of running face-first into windows.
