A list of puns related to "The Ballad of Buster Scruggs"
Maybe someone already mentioned, but i watched the Coens new anthology on Netflix and if you like Fargo, you will like it,it has the same vibes all over,i really enjoyed it!
Somewhere along the vein of Charles Portis
I'm hoping one of y'all can help me figure out the notes for this song; it doesn't strike me as too complex, note-wise, but I'm not familiar enough with the harmonica yet to be able to say what number each note is. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
EDIT 2/21:
So far what I've been able to sort of kind of piece together is this
7 -7 7 -8 7 -8 8 -8
7 -7 7 -7 -6 -7 -6
7 -7 7 -8 7 -8 8 -8
8 -9 8 -8 8
but that only covers the intro, not the main melody
EDIT 3/8:

Had to look up and make sure it was Tom Wait, was thinking it was that other guy, Nick Nolte. And almost thought it always Keanu Reeves in the story the gal got rattled. I really want to see Keanu in a western now. And also Liam Neeson, wasnβt sure and then was like holy shit. Really wanted to see James Francoβs character survive one more time lol.
A man searching for gold in a stream encapsulated by green scenery and mountain ranges who just...gets shot.
A character that is named Arthur that is considered the ultimate wisdom of his traveling group.
A character who was meant to hang a few times but escaped (Colm)
I mean Iβm sure thereβs more but Iβm drunk.
Doesn't need to be a western, just looking for something that tells a number of short stories with engaging and thought-provoking themes. I especially liked the juxtaposition of the light-hearted and darker elements. Thanks!
A poignant vignette towards the middle of the film. Blown away when I found out who it was. Hope we see him in more dramatic roles!
Try out the "Free State of Jones" this movie has that same frontier era feeling down to a T. Also on Netflix
So bear with me here, people accuse the Cohen brother's movies of being Nihilistic, and I'm sure there is a lot of meaning in the nitty gritty of each interaction, a lot of their movies also have an overlying moral lesson, like 1996's Fargo was about contentness with the sheriff living a nice life because she was happy with what she had, and the demise of most character's being the result of greed.
I think there's an overlying moral in Buster Scruggs about determination as each character that meets an unhappy end all seem to share the common theme of lacking determination.
Buster Scruggs himself is ambling and wayward, and while incredibly skilled the person who kills him is someone who is determined and motivated towards a specific goal. His lack of determination and blase attitude likely the thing that caused him an unhappy end.
The character of Near Algodones, only exercises their agency once in their choice to rob the bank, and even then they do so only half heartedly. The Pan Shot man meanwhile is driven and determined, so he overcomes the protagonist, the protagonist has one other opportunity to exercise agency when rescued from the hanging, but decides to drift along with the person who rescued him, and he meets an unhappy end for it.
The main character in Meal Ticket's only agency is through his words since he lacks both arms and legs, but throughout the entire chapter the words he speaks are never his own words, he only speaks the words of others in rote memorization and fails to change with the times, and because of that he meets an unhappy end, and also his partner for his fickleness also likely meets an unhappy end (the math chicken trick is done by an apparatus that drops a small bit of food into the different numbers via sleight of hand from the barker, so without the set up, the chicken he overcharged Liam Nieson for is worthless)
All Gold Canyon the protagonist works hard, is honest, and fights to the bitter end tooth and nail, and for it he gets a happy end.
In the Gal Who Got rattled it starts off following the woman and her brother. The brother appears at first to be determined but as time goes on we realize that he is actually driven by stubbornness and for this he meets an unhappy end. The sister likewise is told in the gun there are 2 bullets one for the man, and one for her. She thinks the man is killed, and instead of "fighting to her last bullet" she meets an unhappy end.
The final story is more of a reflection of the
