A list of puns related to "Tape (film)"
I just wanted to point out a personal experience I had while casting for a short film. This was back in 2019, so before the pandemic.
So the role was for a male age range 20s-30s. The shoot was non-union and I offered $125/day for 2 days of shooting. 232 actors submitted, and 32 were chosen to tape. Out of those, only 17 actually submitted a tape. Half or so submitted on the day before the deadline. One of those tapes was so undeniably good that I changed the character a bit to fit this guy.
A few things I can apply as a now actor:
Submitting doesn't have to be early because if it's amazing it'll still be put toward the top. I know for me sometimes I value getting it done early, but getting it to be great is more important. Obviously if it's good + early that's best-case scenario
There is a TON of competition. 232 actors willing to shoot a non-union short film for barely above minimum wage (SE market), or at least submit for it (considering half the chosen people didn't even self-tape). Imagine how many there are for union roles.
Love the art - this guy that was chosen was, in my eyes, clearly too good to be doing a non-union short film like this. Yet, it was a role that challenged him so he took the gig even though the money was miniscule. He took the time to do the tape professionally. He took time out to come to a rehearsal/scouting day at the location before the shoot (for free). Not saying it's from this short, but all of his effort/hard work/talent led him to getting a series regular on a popular show soon after. Put in the work (talking to myself especially!!!)
I have purchased an HDMI VCR, which is truly a convergence of the latest technology and the greatest movie medium ever made.
However, it's been a long time since I've owned any VHS tapes. What are the best classic movies which are best appreciated with VHS as the medium?
Lest anyone ask: of course I will be using the Victorville Coding System, but it might take me awhile to get past a shelf number of 00.
Found footage films like Pooughkeepsie tapes, and lake mungo (already seen hell house)
Do you guys have any found footage horror films lkke the ones listed above
Either disturbing or atmospheric found footages films (no Megan is missing - itβs bad) to watch with a good friend
Saw part of it late at night on Channel 4 (UK) about 20 years ago and I've always wanted to see it again.
SOLVED!
It's Hidden City.

It is this comedy/ horror film. A man dies, and is sent to this 'Circus'. Apparently the way to escape this 'purgatory-hell' is by striking a HIGH STRIKER.
Incase anyone doesn't know a HIGH STRIKER, is a game at the carnival, where you hit a pad, with a giant mallet/hammer which lifts a 'puck/weight' up a measuring scale. The goal is to hit the pad with enough force that the puck rings the bell at the top.
So, when the man eventually wins the HIGH STRIKER, he returns to Earth, but in another dead persons body. This dead person however is having his internal organs harvested by Doctors, who are making jokes, when suddenly the body reanimates. The 'revived man in the harvested body' uses duct-tape to keep his neck secure (it was broken). He then runs to find his girlfriend? They then have an intimate scene, where he confesses everything to her.
I watched this film with my dad years ago. For some reason I think a lady who resembled Woopi Goldberg was the 'undertaker' of the 'Carnival Purgatory'.
Does anyone know what I'm talking about
Until the creature took the camera. Needless to say they are not happy anymore after the creature (βmilking timeβ creature not a reference to amongus ) checked cams I mean took the camera
Would love to see someone step up and offer to convert these to digital formats. How many HDDs you think would be needed for the whole collection?
My F100βs film door latch snapped while it was in the camera bag it seems. Of course, I was only 8 shots into a new roll. I am hoping that maybe any part of this roll will be salvageable, but accepting of the likely fate.
But for the long term, is it probably worth just using tape for awhile and eventually ordering an f5? Or should I repair the f100 and hold onto it? Is the f5 going to offer me much more than the f100 besides being supposedly tougher?
Iβm sentimental about the f100, and have replaced other bits on it, but it seems the door is a common failure and I may just end up with the same issue over and over again?
I canβt film at home for reasons beyond my control so I am not sure where to start. Should I rent an Airbnb for a day once a week? Or what do you guys do if filming at home isnβt plausible?
