A list of puns related to "Tahereh Mafi"
If you've finished the whole series you'd know about Emmaline and her situation. Her condition really terrified me and seeing Marcy in such a similar (not as brutal, I hope) state really concerns me.
So, I found the order bellow, is that the best order to read? I'm a bit confused because there are so many books.
Also, can I read only the main series first? Cause 10 books is definitely a lot for me, I don't have much free time.
Please no spoilers.
I started reading this for a book club. I didn't vote for it but majority rules. We are 1/3 into the book and I really dislike the main character. Can someone tell me why this book was so popular and has almost a 4 star on Goodreads? Right now I see it as a 1 star... does it get better?
[SPOILERS]
Am I the only one that found this book a bit of a hard shift? Like Iβm glad she is growing up and Iβm glad she isnβt relying on Adam anymore but it felt like a really fast change of her personality I guess. I also felt like her powers have also edged towards a bit...over the top? Like her touch is deadly, then sheβs super strong, then she can move things with her mind (for all intents and purposes), and sheβs bullet proof? Itβs a bit much. She is starting to feel very over powered
I am enjoying the series though donβt get me wrong Iβm just starting to get some nagging questions at the back of my mind
I've just seen the first four books of the Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi for Β£10 here in the UK, which to me looks like a bargain. I was about to pick this up but was hesitant, as I don't usually enjoy dystopian books. I have the first three books of The Darkest Minds series by Alexandra Bracken but really regret buying them as I didn't enjoy the series.
Has anyone read the Shatter Me series and if so please could you let me know what you think and whether or not it would be worth it to pick them up.
I do want to read the series or at least the first one to see what it's like but I was just going to suggest it as a stock item for my library as they don't have the series yet.
Any thoughts? Please let me know.
"Books are easily destroyed. But words will live as long as people remember them. Tatoos for example are very hard to forget. I think there's something about the impermeance of life these days that make it necessary to etch ink into our skin" Aaron Warren, Unravel Me
A character you canβt stand at first but eventually end up falling for. Iβm pretty flexible when it comes to the genre. However Iβm not into billionaires and mafia leaders or that sort of cringe content.
Thank you!!
Wow, this was such a fantastic book. 4.5/5!
No spoilers until later, I'd love to share my overall thoughts first.
I didn't quite know what to expect. I bought this book while travelling, after I had finished Ps. I Still Love You by Jenny Han (Yes, I'm in a bit of a romance-y mood lately), and I just completely fell into it. From the first page, I was hooked. As a white cisfemale, who doesn't live in the USA, it was so fascinating to see how a Muslim, hijab-wearing girl experienced life in 2002. Especially after I visited Ground Zero and the museum, giving me so much more insight in the damage 9/11 did. I was only 5 when it happened, so I don't remember it happening at all. Shirin was incredibly relatable even for someone who isn't of the Islamic faith and who doesn't know much about the culture. Ocean, well, Ocean was just great. Just fantastic. Wonderful. The book had great pacing 95% of the way through, up until the last 10 pages. It suddenly felt rushed, as if the writer had wanted to write another 100 pages, but was forced by a publisher to just 'end it already' and wrap it up. It was such a shame, as I would have happily given this book 5/5 stars, but this just felt so out of place.
Now for spoilers βββββββββββ
What a shitty ending! After all that they'd been through, I wanted them to end up together. I wanted them to love each other, stay together, at least for a while longer. Although I know that this was a realistic ending and not everything can have a happy ending, especially when it's based on someone's real life, it was so disappointing. Is it bad that I wanted this to end like a typical romance, even though the book is so much more?
I recently finished this series and now Iβm kind of jonesing for a similar book/series. I love pretty much any dystopian/ post-apocalyptic, but I especially enjoy dystopian with romance. This particular series was addicting for quite a few reasons but I think the main things Iβm looking for (and failing to find) for the next book are either the villain gets the girl plot or the unsuspected addition of a second romantic interest. I loved that Warner was misunderstood/ perceived as the bad guy before the truth came out.
