P1907 sword bayonet made in 1912. As it's based on the t30 japanese bayonet which itself is loosely based on a katana, am I a mallninja? I am currently waiting on the appropriate SMLE no 1mk3 rifle (1917). Guaranteed no 1000 times folded glourious nipple steal here.

Why bayonets and swords would still be in use on a TL 11 battlefield: In case of a Carrington Event.

Unless the laser weapon is TL 12 or higher, a simple hit from an Electromagnetic Pulse bullet/grenade would render it useless for several minutes.

As a houserule I give my players the option of Ruggedising (CSC, Page 93) their normal weapons if they pay the extra cost, but none ever take me up on the offer.

Even with all the advanced technology to help predict the weather people are still only human. Mistakes can be made. An unexpected Carrington Event could change the outcome of a war. If one can be predicted battles would be planned around it to great effect.

A futuristic trench warfare with lasers goes quiet. Weird lights suddenly appear in the sky. The next 48 hours would be in history books that officers would study for years to come. Could make for an interesting moment in a game.

A similar scenario could happen if an orbiting ship decided to blast ground targets with a modified Ion weapon.

I'm guessing something like this already exists as a module somewhere, so if there's something obvious I'm forgetting please let me know.

Edit: This could also become a problem if you're using a Remington EtronX. While it's not officially an in-game weapon, it is an irl slug thrower that could be stopped with an emp.

Use of sword bayonet?

I own 2 sword bayonets specifically a Gras 76 and a chassepot yataghan. Having experience in Japanese koryu(old) styles even though they weren't designed in said context, I of course can use them effectively for the most part in terms of handling or technique similar to a kodachi. And I have done extensive self studies on British military Sabre.

But I was wondering in the opinion of experienced HEMA practitioners what manual would best match it's use(while detached from the rifle) within those styles specifically?

I have heard the Angelo and Roworth and tailor manuals are a good representation.
