Hello. This year i bought myself my first "real " electric (the only electric I had before it was an epi starter pack lp). After playing an American Original 60's jag in daphne blue, I knew I had to get a guitar as close to that as i possibly could. Skip ahead a couple months and I love my CV jag. I've been thinking about doing some mods to make it better suited for my uses however. Would it be a good idea to upgrade the pickups? If so, which would you recommend? I primarily play alt rock, punk rock, alt metal, noise rock, and shoegaze. Some of my favorite guitar sounds are Superfuzz Bigmuff - Mudhoney, Screaming Life - Soundgarden, In Utero - Nirvana, pretty much everything Sonic Youth, and Loveless - My Bloody Valentine. Thanks!

Update: So far I'm looking at the DiMarzio Chopper for the bridge and will probably leave the neck as is. Does anyone have any experience with this pickup?

Pretty self explanatory title. I’ve been seeing a lot about Mudhoney’s “Every Good Boy” lately and that’s one I never really got into. Mudhoney as a whole just never really clicked with me (no disrespect, they’re huge grunge icons and I really like Superfuzz Bigmuff), but with all the publicity EGBDF is getting, it just stuck out to me. Another one is Sister by Sonic Youth. Out of all the Sonic Youth albums, this one just never wowed me. Schizophrenia is amazing but the rest of the album, I dunno, all of the songs just kinda sound the same to me. I really love all of SY’s other early stuff, too, which is why I don’t get why I don’t “get” Sister. I’m listening to it again rn to see if I can hear something different, because I think Sonic Youth’s stuff grows on you. Anyways, would love to hear any y’all have! And remember, just because someone doesn’t love an album doesn’t mean they hate it or that you can’t love it!

Is mudhoney grunge because I think they sound so grunge especially on superfuzz bigmuff and they are literally a Seattle band fromed the 80s and 90s but I got a load of criticism off ppl on tiktok for calling them grunge

Thanks to this list I was introduced to a lot of noise rock and beat happening lo fi style of music. Now that I’m older, and I am so glad I got to hear this when I was much younger. As i play these records over and over, especially during Covid-19, I get to understand the connection of his music and his influences a lot more everyday.

I’m sure most of us know this list by now but I’ve added comments by Cobain, if there are any. And some of the comments are mixed in from interviews or things he’s written. I also included an honorable mentions for Cobain even though he didn’t write one, I’m including albums I feel we’re a big part of his sound but weren’t included on his own Top 50.

I want to share what I was doing in my free time to anyone who has the same interest. If anyone else has anything to share that would be great too.

1. Iggy and the Stooges – Raw Power (1973) “I own all the Stooges albums," he recites. Maybe we’re more like the Stooges type of punk rock, before punk rock was a trendy fashion statement. And, where people would expect to try to act as punk rock as possible. It seemed that when Iggy was playing to his audience, he dove out into the audience and cut himself up because he wanted this audience to act like that. Or, he wanted to create an environment the way that he felt. And at the time, the audience response was just, basically, heckling.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
