The German defense budget is tied with France's as the largest in the EU. They don't have aircraft carriers, nuclear submarines or an independent nuclear deterrent to spend on. So where does that money go? Is the German military unfairly maligned?

TIL that the first and ONLY decisive battle fought between modern battleship fleets happened in 1905, between Japan and Russia. Since then, submarines and aircraft carriers became the dominant ships of naval combat, with battleships only providing defensive and supportive utility

Nuclear-powered aircraft carriers can be used to provide electricity and desalination to disaster-affected locations. Can nuclear-powered submarines be used for this purpose too?
As you may have heard, the new AUKUS alliance will have Australia acquire nuclear-powered submarines.
Back in 2004, American nuclear-powered aircraft carriers provided electricity and desalination to tsunami-affected areas.
Considering that Australia has many disaster-prone areas, can we use our nuclear-powered submarines for this purpose too? If current models of nuclear-powered submarines can't do this, can this function be implemented into newer models?

Sinking the Aircraft Carrier Eagle with a submarine?
A thought occurred to me as I re-watched episode 4. Why was a simple submarine strike not considered to dispatch the Eagle to a watery grave? I donβt see how any of the vampires aboard could stop a submarine attack. What are your thoughts?

Submarines vs. Aircraft Carriers
So I just played a ranked match where I was CV left with 2 BB's against a CV and a sub, while tight on points. The match was directly lost because I was unable to sink the sub with my planes (or rather really just attack it). The sub sunk me but not before I brought my rocket planes in the air. I then circled around it for the entire time the planes could stay up in the air, unable to bear my rockets onto it because to make a turn I had to fly so far away that I wasn't spotting it anymore. No one in my team was able to sink it, the sub player sunk one of our BB's and the game was over. In this scenario I could at least spot it for my team to sink it but in 1v1 CV has no way to sink a sub. I'm not a heavy CV player but it still seems ridiculus to me that there is a matchup in the game that is so imbalanced. The sub was out of depth time btw.
