A list of puns related to "South Asian Free Trade Area"
Iโm from the UK but quickly realized this sub was almost entirely American and Canadian.
Iโm aware of places like Brampton and Surrey in Canada, with large Punjabi Indian populations. In the UK we have tons of Desi dominated areas: surrey for Indian Punjabis, Birmingham for Pakistanis, east London for Bengalis, and northwest London for other Indians. There is also a Pakistani/Bengali British accent, which exists because many of us live amongst ourselves
Do such areas exist in the USA? One thing I can say is that most Desi Americans I see on TV do not have a specific accent.
Edit: can someone message me if they are interested in giving me personal advice over a problem in my life right now
Shepparton is pretty racist and so is Swan Hill. I'm curious to know what are some good places in general. I've lived in Melbourne for seven years and it is quite a racist place when you really examine it.
My partner and I are looking to get engagement / couples photos done preferably before the end of the year.
We are located in SoCal (specifically Orange County and Inland Empire) and want to get photos taken in that general area.
I would really love to support and hire a fellow South Asian photographer.
If you know of anyone, have recommendations, or want to share your own portfolio please share any social media / websites in the thread!
Which are areas in Cleveland having a presence of south asian community ? Does Cleveland have decent number of asian stores around ?
Any pointers would be helpful.
All- what's the cheapest licensed Bay Area Indian caterers you could find? And I'm talking about having some decent amount of quality but not upscale like Jalsa or Amber.
Would want to stay under $50/person, if possible and hav at least two meat dishes incorporated.
EDIT: any food trucks that might be a good alternative?
Just something I've been curious about. As far as I know:
Just wanted to know if there's any other groups though.
Havent seen many south asain familly anscetry online
I was cleaning out my closet and found one that was still sealed. I havenโt used Stadia in a long time so maybe someone can put it to good use.
Iโm located in San Jose.

Hi guys,
Iโm a Bay Area Desi born and raised here. My wife was born in Europe but raised in Pakistan for a bit before moving to the states as a teen, and moved from her home state to the Bay around two years ago. She gets along with people of all races and religions and never discriminates, but she loves Bollywood, Desi fashion, music and cultural celebrations, be it Eid, Holi etc. For me, I had always felt like a cultural and religious outcast, almost like I didnโt belong so never made any Desi friends. We are Muslim, we are Desi, we drink, she wears what she wants, we enjoy life to the fullest but we also practice as much as we can. The only thing we practice religiously however is not judging others and being as open minded as we can. Itโs about to be Ramadan tomorrow and I can see how bummed she is that she doesnโt have that many people to invite to Ramadan parties like back in her home state. I feel either we are judged by other desis, or tried to put in a non religious box especially in the Bay, and itโs so exhausting.
Anyway, the reason Iโm asking for advice is, HOW do we find friends as a couple in their late 20โs? I really want my wife who is also a social animal to feel like she has a network of like minded Desi people she can celebrate little events with. We donโt care if theyโre Muslim or not as long as theyโre respectful, but how do we actually go about finding people ๐
Other major cities I know have areas like that, such as Jackson Heights in NYC and Devon St in Chicago. I was wondering if metro Atlanta has something similar to this.
Hi! Iโm Janani Ramachandran and Iโm running for California State Assembly in an August 31st special election. I am a social justice lawyer, activist, and artist who has devoted my life to empowering communities who have been failed by our existing systems. I am running for State Assembly in District 18 because of the unprecedented challenges of COVID-19, and worsening income inequality, environmental catastrophes, and racial injustices. These problems demand a fresh perspective from a leader who has been working directly with her communities for years. California doesnโt need just another Democrat in Sacramento โ we need a bold advocate who isnโt bought by corporate interest groups and who will deliver real progressive change for Californians.
Iโm running for State Assembly because California needs bold solutions now, starting with stronger statewide tenant protections, a $22/hour living wage and support for small businesses, ending qualified immunity for police who cause harm, investment into community alternative justice programs, a Green New Deal with a racial equity lens, and universal healthcare. I am also passionate about ensuring that we have a transparent and accountable government.
The establishment knows my election would be a huge threat to โbusiness as usualโ politics, where the rich get richer and working-class Californians suffer, which is why corporations have poured nearly $2 million into my opponentโs campaign. Iโm not taking a cent of corporate money, so the only way we can reach every voter and win this seat for the people of Californiaโs 18th Assembly District is with an army of passionate volunteers and supporters who are fed up with the status quo.
You can join our fight for justice by donating, volunteering, either virtually or at an in-person event, following me on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, and talking about our campaign with anyone who you know who could help us win this race and bring about real, progressive change for the people of California. I look forward to answering your questions about my race!
