A list of puns related to "Soil fertility"
Basically the title. Is it possible for a farm to function with competitively high levels of soil fertility, without using any products that rely on animal exploitation?
I need to make something very clear first: anything connected to what people consider "green magic" doesn't work for me, at all, I've tried many rituals and have participated in ceremonies dedicated to harvesting and planting. It's just isn't in me.
However I connect very easily to anything that involves animals, fertility and nurturing. My country is taking the pandemic really badly right now and I'm taking part in a project that will maybe help produce a bit of food that can be donated to local communities. A part of it involves plants, I decided to work with seedbeds and not potted ones, as they tend to well, die. Seeds though, I can connect as something that needs nurturing, even mothering.
Is there any symbol I can carve on my seedbed to help the fertility, a ritual or even a spell?
I'm preparing to put in wildflower turf on my garden, and as part of that I've ended up with a fairly large amount of excess low fertility soil - its replacing the ordinary garden soil to prevent the grass out competing the wildflowers.
Does anyone know what uses I can put it to? I've got some unused plant pots I'm thinking of using it in but I'm stuck for plants other than wildflowers that will grow in it.
So my story is set on a continent the size of Africa and is largely a tropical environment. The animals that live here are a hodgepodge of different fictional prehistoric ones. The continent is not volcanic and the plantlife grows at an astonishing rate.
What could I do to explain how hyper fertile this soil is?
Hey reddit im trying to learn about this problem a little bit more. Can anyone tell me how we are trying to solve and fight soil fertility?

We've just dug up all the concrete in our garden and want to grow a wildflower/grass meadow. It's currently 3 to 4 inches of probably builders sand all over. I know that low-fertility soil is good for wildflowers, and I'm not going to put down topsoil, but I wonder if I should put down/mix in a bit of low-fertility soil. This is mainly to make it feel more like a "normal" lawn underfoot and so that it's nicer for my little boy to run around on once established. I just wonder if we keep it only-sand it will look a little weird!

I'm an American looking to attend grad school next year, and currently talking to advisors and choosing a program. I'm looking at a couple Master's projects that are studying soil fertility in Sub Saharan Africa and will be collaborating with affiliate researchers. I was curious if anyone has experience with options for employment after completing a Master's like this. I know the main things that come to mind are USAID and NGOs, but I want to know what else is out there or how the employment climate is. Does anyone have any experiences or advise? My main concern is that if I want to leave academia, it would be hard to pivot off a Master's like this into a "job". Thanks!
