Vanillite's catch rate is 10%. You know what else has a 10% catch rate? Lucario, Gabite, Gengar, Spiritomb, Volcarona, Sirfetch'd, and Gyarados. You know what you have a HIGHER CHANCE of catching? F---ing Vanilluxe. I'm not even joking. It's easier to catch Vanilluxe than Vanillite. That's how artificial the low catch rate is.
My cynical side would say "Well, it is a free game, and as long as people are playing, they won't change anything." However, if you're upset by the new, lower catch rates designed to drain your Pokeball stash and get you spending, then do something about it. I implore you to send feedback directly to Niantic through the support function in the app. Tweet at them, repost the catch rate graph showing the numbers, and most of all - stop spending money on the game.
Finally, if they do actually adjust the catch rates to be higher, don't thank them. Freemium game companies have all recently adopted the strategy of intentionally pushing things too far to see exactly where the line is, and then they get to act like the good guy because they "listened to the fans" by adjusting it to where they originally wanted it in the first place.
I don't have any issue spending money on this game. I've dumped well over a hundred dollars over the past four years, and I know many of us here have gone far beyond that. For the first time in four years, though, I honestly get no excitement from tapping on a brand new Pokemon when it spawns, and that's how I know the game just isn't the same as it once was.
