39 years ago today, punk-rock legend Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols died of a heroin overdose, just months before his trial for the murder of Nancy Spungen
Sid Vicious, bass player of the Sex Pistols, was charged with the first-degree murder of his girlfriend, 20 year-old Nancy Spungen. Spungen died of a stab wound to the abdomen on the bathroom floor of the hotel room her and Vicious were sharing on October 12, 1978. Vicious initially admitted to the murder, but later denied it, claiming he was asleep during the ordeal.
